Chapter 30 Conspiracy

"So, you guys order takeout, right?"

"???"

Upon hearing Yin Zhu's words, the receptionist's smile faltered slightly: "We don't order takeout, our diet is very healthy, and the origin of all our ingredients is crystal clear."

How could the source of the food from people who eat living people be unclear?

Yin Zhu muttered to herself, further solidifying her plan: "Is it because everyone else has survived in this city for more than three days and therefore doesn't qualify for the free accommodation benefit for new citizens?"

"right."

"If outsiders move into the apartment, do they have to pay too?" Yin Zhu's eyes lit up.

"Yes, but if the person is just loitering in the corridor, we will drive him away after more than half an hour."

The receptionist, with his mechanical smile, immediately saw through Yin Zhu's thoughts. "We have a strong sense of professional ethics. We only eat food from tenants who violate regulations, and we don't eat food of unknown origin."

Yin Zhu nodded thoughtfully, then suddenly said, "So it's just free meat, and you guys won't even eat it when it's right in front of you?"

This time, he didn't answer. He just looked at Yin Zhu with a half-smile, but his overall demeanor gave off an air of nonchalance: "I don't eat, I don't buy on credit, buy if you want, don't buy if you don't want to, get lost." He was trying to prevent any schemes by the chosen one from taking advantage of the situation. He would either die himself or kill the others.

In a vice city, you can forget about having clean hands.

...

"Isn't this...forcing the chosen ones to harm others?"

One comment couldn't help but voice the question that everyone was wondering about, and similar questions weren't limited to China; people from other countries had also boldly asked the front desk for maps and received the same response.

Except for one chosen one from a certain country who was seduced by the handsome receptionist, took the map, paid for it, and was then killed by a monster that suddenly appeared, all the other chosen ones chose to give up buying anything from the temporary apartment, except for the free food and lodging, for fear that their souls might be plundered here at any time.

However, not all comments are orderly and kind.

"So what if you harm people? Look at the name of this instance. Apart from the Chosen One, no one here is innocent."

"That's right, the Chosen Ones killed them, that's doing justice for God."

"If they don't die, do you want our chosen ones to die? Do you want the Dragon Kingdom to perish?"

"A bunch of self-righteous bastards in the bullet comments!"

Where there is conflict, there will be arguments.

"How can you guarantee that the Chosen Ones will continue to live in this city and abide by the law after returning to reality? Have you forgotten about the Mizushima Chosen Ones' attacks on the public?"

"The mental stability of the chosen ones is a matter for the country, what does it have to do with me!"

What if the chosen one develops a warped mentality?

"We strongly urge the state to control the Chosen Ones!"

"The last Chosen One imprisoned by the nation committed suicide in the game, wasting the nation's chance and directly causing Mizushima to almost clear the dungeon, ultimately leading to the country becoming a forbidden zone on Earth. Do you all want to die that badly?"

"If the nation allows the Chosen Ones to return to Earth and harm my family, then I would rather the entire Dragon Kingdom perish with them!"

"System Announcement: User 'Stars Don't Light Up 906' has been banned by the administrator. Reason: Anti-Blue Star comments."

This kind of national anxiety is not uncommon. If such statements were only made by a minority when the game first entered the Grand Theft Auto dungeon, then as the story unfolds, the number of people who are panicked about the Chosen Ones is increasing.

Can someone with special abilities who can thrive in a city full of criminals really return to be a law-abiding ordinary person?

In response, the participating countries held a second online meeting during the dungeon's opening period.

"Gentlemen, this is an open conspiracy."

Anzhi said at the United Nations meeting.

Faced with an unspeakable enemy, many countries tend to elevate the status of the chosen ones and elevate them to national heroes in order to boost public morale—most of whom do indeed sacrifice themselves for their country and protect its countless lives.

Now that the time is ripe, they have openly created such a city, directly undermining the resources of all nations on Earth.

Driven by fear of the future and the facts they have witnessed, once the chosen ones fall into the bizarre trap, they will become increasingly indifferent to human life in order to integrate into this twisted city of sin, and will show the scene that viewers are most worried about during the live broadcast.

What could be more despairing than watching a good person, striving to live, gradually descend into a blood-stained abyss of sin?

Either the people of Sin City die, or the Chosen Ones die.

Those who choose the former, the chosen ones who struggle and fight to survive for the sake of their people, will face a major crisis of trust upon returning to Earth—they have sacrificed so much for the masses, yet those they protect only see them as criminals.

After each mission, the Chosen Ones return to Earth and stay for at least seven days. Unless they completely cut off all social interaction with the outside world and do not know how others treat them, it is hard to say how the Chosen Ones will behave when they enter the next instance if they learn about those negative emotions.

"Damn it, we can't let the unspeakable get away with it!"

The head of the United States was seething with hatred.

“Our chosen one from the Sakura Kingdom would never fall for a trap. She is always the most gentle and considerate, practically a saint walking in the world, no, an angel.”

The person in charge of Sakura Country was quite confident, which was given by Hirano San's consistently conservative and gentle approach to dungeon strategy.

"Our nation's chosen ones are criminals, and the people have become accustomed to it."
