Apocalypse降临 + Live Broadcast + National Destiny + Rule Tales怪谈 + Parallel Worlds
Eerie creatures descend upon Earth, rules become humanity's final showdown against the unspeakabl...
Kijima Suzuka was unaware that she had been targeted by the White Powder Princess, but even if she had known, she had nothing to worry about.
Compared to the Rain Woman and Flying Princess who directly murder people, White Powder Princess is the most "harmless" ghost. She only cares about her own face. When the Chosen One returns to Earth, his body will revert to the Earth state before entering the dungeon. In game terms, this is called a rollback.
As long as you can pass the level, a little "embarrassment" is not a big deal.
Suzuka Kijima herself also felt that most of the ghosts in the "Hyakki Yagyō" dungeon were female ghosts. This was not even influenced by the "anime moe culture" of later generations, but simply came from ghost legends.
Most female ghosts in Japan tend to fight men to the death, while only a small number of female ghosts harm women.
From this perspective, Suzuka Kijima is somewhat relieved that all the chosen ones automatically turn into little girls; otherwise, it would be truly fraught with danger, and she might run into five female ghosts on the street, four of whom would want to eat men alive.
In this ghost realm, because everyone is a ghost, whether male, female, or neither, everyone is wary of other ghosts.
It cannot be denied that there are indeed ghosts and monsters that do not harm people.
But ghosts that don't harm people... won't be sealed away!
Just like the many points of knowledge that the strange head taught in class, one of them was: "There are no Zashiki-warashi in the demon world, because Zashiki-warashi are friendly yokai. Once they are discovered by humans, they will only be imprisoned by them."
They are probably among the very few ghosts that can exist in the human world.
Strictly speaking, Zashiki-warashi are actually classified as fairies or spirits, and in some remote and impoverished areas, they can even be elevated to the level of "gods," which is different from the ghosts and monsters that ordinary people talk about.
The reason it is called "Dōji" is because it only appears in the home in the form of a child. "Zashiki" is a room in the land of cherry blossoms for people to rest or for family gatherings. It is generally used to entertain guests. The floor is covered with tatami mats, and the entire room is decorated in the traditional style of cherry blossoms.
Legend has it that wherever a Zashiki-warashi (a type of Japanese house spirit) is, the family will prosper. Therefore, some unscrupulous people will use the power of a sorcerer to imprison the Zashiki-warashi with a barrier in order to ensure the happiness of their family.
The ghosts sealed in the ghost realm are essentially those that pose a threat to humans, while spirits or gods that are beneficial to humans are revered and worshipped.
The two rivers are clearly distinct.
Suzuka Kijima felt no sympathy for the imprisoned Zashiki-warashi, only that it was guilty of possessing a treasure.
In the land of cherry blossoms, she had certainly heard the story of the Zashiki-warashi, but it was when she was a child. Her father was busy with work and her mother was sick, so her grandmother was asked to take care of her and her mother. It was a story that her grandmother told her.
Legend has it that there was a poor child whose dying wish was that no one else would suffer the same misfortune. This strong desire moved the true gods, who transformed him into a spirit after his death, giving him the ability to bring happiness to others and specifically help those poor families.
At the time, there were some cousins and siblings in the family who were all very moved after hearing the story, but Suzuka Kijima was dismissive of it.
She wouldn't believe those stories meant to fool a stupid child.
She was already ten years old at the time, no longer at the age where she would believe whatever adults said.
This memory was rekindled upon entering the instance world. Kijima Suzuka lay on the bed with her eyes closed, still feeling no pity.
She felt that those who imprisoned the Zashiki-warashi were not wrong.
Most ghosts are born from suffering, and very few are born with kindness. It is clear that it is its own fault for not recognizing people, and it has the special ability to bring happiness and good luck to humans, so of course it will be captured and exploited.
Suzuka Kijima believed that she was different from Zashiki-warashi.
She will only use her status as the chosen one to become a leader, accumulate more benefits, and then, once the United Nations figures out how to get rid of the unspeakable and the strange rules, she can use this status to participate in the election for prime minister.
Lost in her beautiful fantasy, Suzuka Kijima quickly drifted off to sleep.
In her dream, she saw a girl wearing a red kimono. The girl was smaller than her current physical form; if her body was that of an upper elementary or middle school student, then this little girl in the red kimono was probably no older than elementary school.
The world in her dream was pitch black, except for her and the girl who were shining.
Kijima Suzuka took a few steps forward, as if she were walking on water. Ripples appeared around her, spreading outwards in concentric circles.
The girl was bouncing the ball with her head down, seemingly completely unaware of Suzuka Kijima's movements.
However, Suzuka Kijima had a feeling of familiarity.
"So you dreamed about Zashiki-warashi?"
The girl muttered to herself, but because her voice was too soft, Kijima Suzuka couldn't hear her clearly: "Wh...what?"
"I'm trapped, can you come and save me?"
The girl's voice got a little louder.
Kijima Suzuka took only a few steps before stopping and looking at the girl in the red kimono: "I can save you, but what can you offer me?"
"I don't know, but I hope someone can save me."
The girl continued arranging her ball, one stroke after another. The ball hit the water's surface with a "splash," "splash," "splash" sound, each time splashing up a spray of water, but those little waves would unusually evaporate into the air.
Reason told Suzuka Kijima that something was strange about this place.
She should have said "I will help you" to soothe the other person's emotions, but for some reason, she subconsciously said what was really on her mind: "You are useless to me, I will not help you, you can't escape because you are useless."
