Jiang Ran's soul swapped with his parallel world self, and he arrived in a strange world of rules. Amidst rules that are hard to distinguish between true and false, and a succession of ill-inte...
"【dragon】?"
Jiang Ran recalled that Laziness had mentioned "Dragon" before, but one of the newly announced rules said that there was no "Dragon".
Jiang Ran couldn't help but ask, "Do dragons really exist?"
"Why do you ask that?" Arrogance asked, somewhat puzzled. "Since it's about the Chinese zodiac, of course there will be a dragon!"
"What exactly is a dragon?" Gwen asked, joining in. "Is it some kind of person wearing a dragon mask?"
Arrogance shook his head: "I have never seen a dragon, but the person wearing the mask... that is not a dragon."
She stepped out of the room: "Let's get going, or 'it' might be here soon!"
The three walked down the quiet corridor and soon encountered a man wearing a tiger-head mask.
"I am Tiger, good morning, Miss Lust."
"Ah, Mr. Sheep, you're still so dedicated! Good evening!"
The sheep nodded to the arrogance and quickly left.
"What kind of relationship do you have with the [Major Sin] and the [Zodiac]? Are you colleagues?"
"Well... they're neighbors, but I'm not really that familiar with them."
Just as he was about to reach the entrance of the stairwell, Arrogance stopped and looked up.
"Ah—whose kitten is this? It's dangerous standing so high!"
Arrogantly stretching out his hands, Jiang Ran also cast his gaze in that direction.
It was a purple cat, its fur so ethereal it seemed like an unreal creature.
The next moment, the cat leaped down and landed on Jiang Ran's shoulder, and Jiang Ran couldn't feel any weight at all!
There was no flashing red light, which meant the cat in front of him was a strange entity? Jiang Ran tried to find its identity in his memory, but unfortunately he had no recollection of it.
"A bizarre individual that has never been discovered before?"
The cat leaned close to Jiang Ran's ear and spoke in a voice only Jiang Ran could hear: "Pollution."
"You've been corrupted; be careful not to lose yourself."
"etc!"
In the blink of an eye, the cat jumped off Jiang Ran, gave him one last deep look, and then disappeared down the corridor!
"Gwen, do you know what that cat is?"
Gwen shook her head: "I've never seen it before, but it's definitely a strange creature, and its strength is not simple."
"Come on, sir! We need to hurry!"
Jiang Ran temporarily put the cat's matter aside due to the arrogant urging; he should find the second major sin first!
The three of them arrived at the 20th basement level.
"If I remember correctly, the key was most likely lost here!" Arrogance clenched her small hands. "I came here to retrieve something last time!"
Jiang Ran first randomly entered a room, wanting to find out which zodiac animals were associated with that floor.
There are four different Chinese zodiac animals on this level!
The ox is a reliable gatekeeper!
The rabbit can't talk!
The monkey will play little jokes on you!
[Dragon] (crossed out)!
Jiang Ran pondered for a moment. This floor not only contained four types of the Chinese zodiac, but also the dragon, thus violating two rules!
For safety's sake, he should leave here no matter what!
"What's wrong, sir?"
Are you sure the key is really on this floor?
Arrogance nodded again: "It's most likely here. If you don't want to go, sir, just wait for me here. I'll go and retrieve it, but the search may take some time."
Jiang Ran felt something was off about letting Arrogance retrieve it himself.
"No need, let's go together."
The only variable will be the dragon, but Jiang Ran can't keep avoiding the dragon forever. Both Sloth and Pride mentioned the dragon. As long as he continues to strive towards the Great Sin, it's only a matter of time before he encounters the dragon!
"Yes, sir!"
Led by arrogance, Jiang Ran cautiously observed her surroundings as she approached the room she had mentioned.
A minotaur sat at the entrance, blocking everyone's way.
"Mr. [Niu]! Please let us in, I think I left something inside!"
The minotaur shook his head: "Sorry, this is not the opening time for this room. I am the gatekeeper, please understand."
"Oh? I see..."
Arrogance revealed a bitter smile.
Jiang Ran stepped forward: "May I ask what the opening hours are?"
Depending on the opening hours, it's not a bad idea to first engage with the other "Great Sins" and then come back to find Pride.
"One month later."
Jiang Ran was speechless. If the door wouldn't open for another month, what was the point of him doing it? The [Virtual Dragon] could at most wait three more days!
"Is there any way I can get in now?"
Jiang Ran couldn't see the minotaur's expression clearly through the mask, but he vaguely sensed that he smiled.
“As you can see, I am the gatekeeper, and a gatekeeper cannot abandon his duty.” The minotaur changed the subject. “But if you really want to get in, it’s not entirely impossible.”
"Would you dare to bet your life against mine?"
"If I win, you die; if you win, I die. Once I'm dead, no gatekeeper will stop you from passing." The minotaur crossed his legs and chuckled. "So, dare to come?"
What kind of bet is it?
"You have to agree to this first before I can tell you."
Jiang Ran shook his head: "I can't trust you. Isn't the bet something you made? If you make us fight one-on-one, how could I possibly beat you?"
