Chapter 157 The Imposter

Wips and Dejove have successfully become crew members in white coats, but they have not yet been granted positions or VIP status.

"The first mission?" Wips began to speculate. "Could it be that we can obtain a key during the mission and get a position after the mission is completed? Otherwise, the time cost would be much greater than searching directly, and we don't have time to wait in the white coat position."

"Regardless, let's go find this so-called Dirick first."

Following Planck's directions, the two quickly arrived at Dirick's room.

"Oh? You're the new crew members?" Dirick smiled as the two entered. "Very good, let's welcome 'Immortal' together!"

"Immortality? What does that mean?"

“You’ll find out sooner or later.” Dirick stood up, straightened his clothes, and said to the two men, “Come on, your first task is to help me clean up some of the little bugs on this ship.”

Vips sensed something unusual about the mission and asked, "Will it require combat?"

“Low probability.” Dirick smiled. “I know you’re not good at fighting, so if you do run into each other, just trust me.”

"Alright, let's go."

Before leaving, Wips placed his hand on Derick's wooden table one last time.

The two followed Dirick deeper into the ship's hold, the pervasive dust causing them to cough slightly, until they reached a spiral staircase.

There are no safety measures at the edges of the stairs; one slip and you'll fall into the large hole in the center.

Where is the little bug you mentioned?

“Since they’re insects, they’ll naturally hide in the dark.” Dirick craned his neck to look down and waved to the two of them. “Look.”

The two men stepped forward, but Dirik suddenly sneered and shoved them both down!

"Go forth, my dear subordinates."

Dirick stood at the edge of the stairs, silently watching the two people plummeting down!

The spiral staircase wasn't particularly high. Two loud crashes were heard as the two men slammed to the ground. Wips felt pain all over his body and slowly stood up, while Dejov struggled for a couple of moments but couldn't get up.

"Ouch—that hurts!"

Wips quickly helped him up, while looking around.

What exactly did Dirik want to do, and why did he push them down?

A crew member dressed in black uniform pointed a crossbow at them!

"Wait! Perhaps we can talk!"

"I have nothing to talk about with Planck's lackeys."

Sylvie raised the crossbow slightly, ready to fire at any moment!

Wips ripped off his hood: "Look closely! We're guests on the ship! This outfit is just for role-playing!"

He quickly came up with a reason!

"Role-playing?!" Sylvie's lips twitched. She'd be a fool to believe such a reason!

"No matter who you are, die!"

"Silver Flame!"

Dejov used his talent first!

A ball of silver flame locked onto Sylvie and then instantly devoured her!

Dejov's SS-rank talent [Silver Flame] grants him the ability to kill four strange creatures in a single supernatural world. Once a strange creature is locked onto, it will be unable to react for a period of time!

Since Sylvie is going to kill them, Dejov won't hold back either!

"Is this considered mission accomplished?"

That's not right. In this situation, it's impossible to break the deadlock without using your talent. How could there be a situation in the world of supernatural tales where you're doomed without a certain talent?

“How pitiful, Sylvie. Oh well, such is fate. Perhaps this is a relief for you.”

An aged voice came from deeper within.

"who?!"

Sirius slowly walked out, and Dejov, without hesitation, threw another ball of silver flame at him!

Silver flames burned on Sirius's body. Before Dejov could even breathe a sigh of relief, he discovered that Sirius showed no signs of being consumed!

The ability to kill other strange creatures was used on Sirius, but it only burned his clothes and left him with shallow burn marks. Dejov immediately realized that the old man in front of him was a key character in the plot and could not be killed directly with his talent!

Sirius was shirtless, and surprisingly, there were two gill-like things on the sides of his abdomen that were opening and closing!

"Walk!"

While Sirius was unable to move due to the influence of his talent, Wips carried Dejouf on his back and rushed up the stairs!

Dirick shook his head in disappointment: "So he even has the talent to kill weirdos? As expected, it's not so easy to kill two SS-ranks by trickery."

A moment later, Wips carried Dejove and rushed to Dirick, his eyes filled with vigilance!

"Why were we assigned this mission? Was this Planck's idea?"

“A good subordinate never asks his boss ‘why’.” Dirick blocked their path. “Now, go down and kill him!”

Dejov's eyes turned cold: "What if I refuse?"

Killing Sirius was an impossible task; if he had to choose, he would rather kill Dirik in front of him!

"Haha, just kidding, don't get worked up."

Dirik probably sensed the murderous intent in Dejov's eyes, his expression changed instantly, and he laughed and patted Dejov on the shoulder.

"Your mission is complete, you can go now."

From beginning to end, Wips found Dirick in front of him utterly inexplicable.

"This person is really strange. Is his goal to kill us? What is his motive?"

Becoming a crew member is a death sentence? No, something's not right...

"Dejov! Use your ability on him!"

Wips turned his head to remind Dejov, who was slightly taken aback: "Is it necessary? We're not working for him anymore, and my time is running out."

"Use it when I tell you to!"

“Alright.” Trusting Wips, Dejove extended his palm toward Dirik!

"Silver Flame!"

There was no reaction at all.

"What's going on? Why can't I use my abilities on him? Wips, have you figured it out?"

“Your ability only works on bizarre creatures!” Wips stared at Dirick. “But this man isn’t a bizarre creature! He’s a human!”

"A ghost story enthusiast just like us!"

Some of them used some kind of talent to take Dirik's place. If Dejov hadn't also used a talent to deal with it, they would never have been able to survive against Sirius!

"Who is it..." Several names flashed through Wips's mind. Anyone with unknown talent was a suspect, but among them, he was probably the most likely suspect—

Black Sheep Kingdom, Sheep Mountain!
