Rules Strange Tales: SSS Talent? I Play With Them All

Jiang Ran's soul swapped with his parallel world self, and he arrived in a strange world of rules. Amidst rules that are hard to distinguish between true and false, and a succession of ill-inte...

Chapter 274 Haunted House

"Remember, don't try anything funny." Jiang Ran glared coldly at the person in charge of the Tanuki, causing the latter to tremble. "If I find out you have any ulterior motives, I'll shoot you dead!"

Jiang Ran doesn't trust the person in charge of Tanuki.

"No, no, no! My lord! How could I possibly have any other thoughts?"

Looking at the dark muzzle of the gun, the raccoon leader could only raise his hands to prove he was harmless.

"Please follow me, this way!"

The raccoon leader didn't dare waste any time. He first ran to a special room, pushed open the unlocked door, found the entrance to the underground passage, and led the two into the pitch-black environment.

As the underground passage went deeper and deeper, perhaps sensing Jiang Ran's suspicion, he quickly explained, "The place we need to go is on an island in the center of an artificial lake. There are no boats on the lake, and there are piranhas in the lake, so we can only take this route."

No wonder it's so deep. Is this passage directly connected to the island from below the artificial lake?

There were no lights in the entire passage; the faint light from their watches was enough to barely make out the road conditions very close by.

The passage was extremely quiet. Apart from footsteps and breathing, one could even faintly hear a heartbeat. However, after walking for about a minute, Jiang Ran suddenly heard a strange movement ahead!

Bang!

"So you're hiding here? That's not a bad hiding place."

To avoid the carnage at the amusement park, a project manager hid in a dark tunnel and even concealed the light from his watch.

When he saw the numbers on Jiang Ran's watch, he was so scared that he almost lost his soul. He turned around and tried to run away, which caused a commotion. Jiang Ran naturally raised his gun and took him out!

No more, no less, the number of Jiangran Paradise Coins stopped at exactly this number!

At the end of the tunnel was a straight iron ladder extending upwards. The surface of the ladder was already somewhat rusty. The raccoon leader led the way, and the three of them climbed up. The light above gradually appeared, indicating that the three of them were about to leave the underground passage.

"We've arrived! This is the place I was talking about!"

The room was furnished somewhat like a medieval Western castle, with broken windows and numerous bloodstained items scattered on the floor.

"This is a haunted house that combines Chinese and Western styles. The first floor is in the style of a Western castle, and the second floor is in the style of a Chinese castle. There is a very important invitation hidden inside, but I can't remember which floor it is on. We'd better look for it carefully!"

"An invitation?" Seeing that the Tanuki leader was about to leave the room, Jiang Ran did not leave immediately, but instead called out to him, "If this invitation is so important, why don't you find it yourselves? The only person we met on the road was running for his life."

"Because this thing is really useless to us!" The Tanuki manager gave a wry smile. "Holding the invitation allows you to meet the amusement park's owner, but this invitation only applies to visitors. Even if we get this invitation, it won't do us any good."

"Is that so..." Jiang Ran pinched his chin and continued to ask, "I asked you to take me to the nearest place, but this place is not close at all. Why did you bring me here in the first place?"

"This..." The raccoon manager was somewhat flustered, "Of course it's because other places are even farther away! That's right, that's it!"

"You're lying," Jiang Ran whispered in his ear, enunciating each word clearly. "I'm afraid it's because this is the only place available."

The raccoon manager was so frightened that he took a step back and stammered for a long time without being able to speak. Jiang Ran suddenly smiled. He was just trying to bluff, but he didn't expect to actually get it.

Jiang Ran pointed his gun at him!

"I should have told you long ago not to try anything funny with me."

Perhaps to make himself seem more important, or perhaps to prevent Jiang Ran from killing him after obtaining the item, the person in charge of Tanuki told this lie.

"No!" The raccoon leader immediately knelt on the ground. "Everything I did was to save my own life. I had no intention of harming you whatsoever!"

"But you said you couldn't find the invitation here, right? In that case, I'll find it myself. You don't seem to be of much use anymore, do you?"

The raccoon leader's heart skipped a beat. He quickly kowtowed three times on the ground: "I'm useful, of course I'm still useful! There are still many dangers here! I know, I know all of them! I can warn you about the dangers here!"

"Then get up." Jiang Ran smiled knowingly. "Then lead the way."

"Yes, yes, yes!"

The tanuki manager shakily opened the door to the room and walked into the corridor.

"In the castle scene, there is a burly hunter who will kill any creature he sees, and because he is a corpse, even gunshots cannot kill him!"

"He's dragging a huge metal axe, so if you hear the sound of metal scraping the ground, we'd better hide!"

The hunter in the haunted house? These kinds of units are usually not very strong, most likely [Elite], at most [King of Ghosts] level. How could an S-rank dungeon send [Near God] as a mob?

Previously, the ghost story tellers had not delved into the strength of the strange creatures, because getting involved with them usually meant certain death. However, after Jiang Ran truly understood the clear strength classification of strange creatures, he was able to deal with each level of strange creature in different ways.

Even if that hunter comes, shooting won't work, and Gwen is still there, so it's not a big problem.

"Alright, let's not waste any more time."

Jiang Ran had the person in charge of the Tanuki (raccoon dog) lead the way, searching each room one by one, so that if there was any danger, he would be the first to suffer.

"There's something strange about this room!"

The raccoon manager pushed open the door. The room's floor was made of a deep red wood, and the room was filled with countless carved pumpkins, each decorated with patterns like Halloween pumpkins, and each containing a burning candle.

Jiang Ran also entered the room. When Gwen followed, the door closed automatically, the lights in the room went out, and after about three seconds, the candles were relit. An old woman dressed as a wizard sat quietly in front of the three of them.

She had an exaggerated face like something out of a fairy tale, a nose like a dog's, and an even more prominent chin; just looking at her face, she seemed like an evil old witch.

"Oh, three adorable little ones."

The witch pulled a handful of candy from the pumpkin lantern and held out her hands for the three of them to take.

"Come and try some of Grandma's special candies. After you eat them, I'll give you a little gift."
