Chapter 394 I'll Protect Her

"Qin Mo, since you're going home, wouldn't it be right for you to stop by and visit our Hania?"

Debbie and Promi were about to leave when they heard Qin Mo say he was going home. Their eyes lit up and they extended an invitation to him, looking at him like he was watching a fish about to be caught in a net.

If Qin Mo were to travel home via the Rome-Red Sea-Indian Ocean-Taipei route, Hania would indeed be on that route. Since they are allies, it would be impolite to pass by their home without going in, especially given Qin Mo's close relationship with Hania.

In the past, Qin Mo would have visited Xi Ya even without anyone telling him, because he missed his little maid and wanted to know if she was doing well, if she was getting along happily with her clansmen, and if any ignorant brats were bothering her!

But that's clearly not the case now. Shia has grown up, has enough strength and status, and has her own ideas. She no longer needs my protection; what she needs... is my indulgence.

If it were just a minor disagreement between the couple, Qin Mo would definitely give in to her partner. When Shia was still a maid, Qin Mo had done so many times. But now that her scheming future mother-in-law was involved, Qin Mo suddenly felt a strong sense of resistance.

"Aunt Debbie, I won't go, it's not on my way!" Qin Mo chuckled and declined Debbie's invitation.

Debbie's expression changed, and she said coldly, "Qin Mo, your excuse is really not very clever! So many goods from your Great Xia to the Western Continent travel through the Eastern Mediterranean, and you actually say it's not on the way?"

Qin Mo was about to see the two of them to the door, but after hearing Debbie's words, she immediately stopped and forced a standard aristocratic fake smile: "It's really not on my way. Butler Sun... could you see my two guests off for me?"

Standing on the steps, watching Pramie drag her sullen-faced wife away, Qin Mo felt a surge of irritation. "Why do they all like to threaten me with benefits? Why do they have to use so much scheming? Can't they just be sincere?"

In fact, if Debbie had been honest with Qin Mo from the beginning and used Shia's marriage as a reason to discuss things in detail, she would have gotten much more than she has now. Just like Heatherine, who gave away the fire-resistant paper formula without hesitation, and Qin Mo didn't care at all.

Debbie first wanted Qin Mo to marry into the royal family and become the king's husband, then she went around to find Allen, and finally threatened that all of Daxia's goods would go through the Mediterranean.

Why was Vasco da Gama able to discover the Cape of Good Hope? Wasn't it because those fanatical warmongers in the Red Sea had taken over the entire Middle East, pushing European merchants and nobles to their limits, which led them to fund the discovery of a direct sea route to India?

"Do you need me to set up a chamber of commerce for you? It's true that the Eastern Mediterranean is the territory of the sea people, but if I plant my flag, I doubt they'll dare to do anything!" Heatherine's figure appeared out of nowhere next to Qin Mo, and she smiled mischievously.

She's becoming more and more down-to-earth in Qin Mo's eyes, and Qin Mo has opened up a colorful and bright life for her.

Qin Mo glanced at her, gave a bitter smile, indicating that she was feeling uneasy and desperately needed comfort.

Heather put her arm around his shoulder affectionately and said, "Actually, she's just worried about her daughter. Historically, the royal family of the sea tribe is very devoted in love. The reason why Queen Shia hasn't come to see you might not be because she's being arrogant, but because she hasn't figured out how to greet you right now!"

"call!"

Qin Mo let out a long sigh and said, "Forget it, she needs time to adapt to her new identity. We'll meet again when she's ready. After all, we've already formed an alliance with them, and we'll have to face each other sooner or later!"

"So you're really just going to pass by Hania without going to see her?"

"No, I want to forge a new path, a path no one has ever walked before!"

Qin Mo's dream used to be sailing. As the most exciting, arduous, and rewarding mode of sailing, a solo circumnavigation of the globe in a single ship was something he had only ever thought about. But now he had enough foundation.

His strength was already formidable enough, with both mental and physical abilities comparable to a robot. His perception of the various forces in the world was also at the top level in the era, making him fully capable of handling complex sea conditions and even... storms.

Besides, even if the ship does sink, he won't end up like he did in his previous life.

He touched the damp pendant on his chest, savoring the scent of a strand of golden hair. He remembered what Shia had said when she placed the pendant around his neck: "This is Shia Qin's mark. You are mine now..."

Qin Mo shook her head fiercely, dispelling the irritation in her heart.

"Shia, when we meet again... what will you be like?"

A slender dhow swiftly glided across the sea, leaving a trail of foam in its wake.

Qin Mo changed out of her Great Xia noble dress and into jeans and a white shirt, paired with non-slip canvas shoes, a typical trendy navigator outfit.

"Would you like to eat?"

Inside the cabin, Heatherine was half-exposed, dressed in the same shirt as Qin Mo, looking like a couple traveling together.

"Coming right away!"

Qin Mo deftly lowered the sail, secured the ropes, and casually tossed the small anchor into the sea before turning back to the cabin for a meal. These small boats with their super-tall masts were very fast, but the sails were difficult to maneuver; a single misstep could capsize the entire vessel. Therefore, the sails had to be lowered during mealtimes and rest periods.

After Qin Mo told Heather that he wanted to go to Madeira first and then try to take a new route home, Heather immediately said that she wanted to go to Madeira with him, because she wanted to find a quiet place... to rest during her pregnancy!
