Chapter Seventy-Seven: Burden
Danfengyan and King Bernoulli's fighting styles were clearly different from Qin Mo's, even though Qin Mo, like them, increasingly preferred to overwhelm opponents with sheer power. Qin Mo focused on speed and footwork in combat, to the point that he could be almost invisible. However, these two's offensive and defensive techniques were clearly visible to Qin Mo.
Bernoulli's hammer blows felt incredibly heavy, slowly pressing down on Danfengyan, whose greatsword was slightly faster, striking Bernoulli's hammer hilt each time, causing his heavy body to sway slightly. Occasionally, Danfengyan's greatsword would inexplicably strike out of thin air, followed by a muffled thunderous clash, and flashes of light on the greatsword. Qin Mo knew this was Bernoulli's energy sword attacking Danfengyan, but Danfengyan had detected and countered it beforehand.
Qin Mo was currently feigning that he was trapped by the earth elemental energy controlled by Bernoulli. He dared not release his own energy, nor dared to attempt to communicate with the earth elemental energy around him, and naturally could not detect Bernoulli's energy sword. Only when the sword pierced through the snow mist stirred up by the phoenix eyes could he gain some understanding of the battle in the arena. This level of combat was beyond his ability to intervene at will; the invisible contest between the two had transcended Qin Mo's comprehension.
Suddenly, Danfengyan's figure flashed and he appeared in front of Qin Mo in an instant. He swung his heavy sword horizontally, making a "hum" sound. He cleaved a sword of Yuan Qi, and the Yuan Qi dissipated, ruffling the hair of the two people.
Danfengyan snorted, his eyes filled with intense hatred. Light began to emanate from his heavy sword, and he launched a fierce attack. King Bernullis was actually caught off guard and appeared flustered.
Qin Mo's face flushed slightly. In this duel between powerful individuals, Danfengyan had to spare attention to protect him and guard against the chaotic earth energy threatening him, which made him feel ashamed. He wondered... if he should escape first and not hold Danfengyan back.
The moment this thought crossed his mind, he saw the Phoenix Eyes appear beside him again, slashing out with his sword and shattering another wisp of energy. He suddenly realized that this wasn't scattered energy; Bernoulli was deliberately attacking him to disrupt the Phoenix Eyes' rhythm.
"Don't you think it's despicable?" Qin Mo shouted. He thought he was a moderate and a peace lover, but he was actually so despicable and shameless.
King Bernoulli smiled silently, his wide grin seeming to mock Qin Mo's naiveté. He quickened his pace, locked in a fierce battle with Danfengyan, but Danfengyan found himself near Qin Mo more and more frequently.
Danfengyan stood directly beside Qin Mo, quietly watching Bernullis. Bernullis also stopped attacking, and the two faced off. With the beastmen reinforcements arriving at any moment around Ulan-Ude City, it was obvious who would suffer more in this standoff.
"I... this is the first time I've ever seen such a shameless orc powerhouse like you. It's truly an eye-opener." The cold, aloof voice, devoid of any emotion, spoke as if Bernullis hadn't just toyed with her. Only Qin Mo, standing close to her, could sense her anger; the hairs on the back of her beautiful neck stood on end, trembling.
Suddenly, Qin Mo felt a sudden lightness followed by a tightness, and then that familiar fragrance wafted into his nose and mouth. He was suddenly held tightly under the armpits by Danfengyan, who held him with one hand and wielded a heavy sword with the other, and the two of them charged towards Bernoullius as one.
This time, Phoenix Eyes held back, increasing the speed of her greatsword by several orders of magnitude. The clanging of hammer and sword suddenly rang out, carrying far and wide. Bernoullius also unleashed even more swords, which Phoenix Eyes countered with all her might. Her energy splattered, clearing away the surrounding snow and revealing solid ground.
Qin Mo was extremely anxious. If things continued like this, the powerful figures in Ulan-Ude City would definitely come to reinforce them. Although there would no longer be a powerful figure of King Bernullis's caliber, there would certainly be quite a few warlords. He did not believe that Danfengyan could escape with him under the siege of a group of warlords and generals.
He had no choice but to take a risk. Qin Moxin subtly moved her fingers and secretly tapped the waist of the phoenix-eyed man. The phoenix-eyed man's movements suddenly paused, and then he continued his attack on Bernoullius as if nothing had happened.
Qin Mo wrote words behind Danfengyan's back with his finger. As he wrote, Danfengyan trembled slightly. Qin Mo thought, "Could it be that her funny bone is on her waist?" He stopped when Danfengyan suddenly clamped her hand on his waist, knowing that Danfengyan was telling him, "I understand what you mean. Take your claws off me."
With effortless effort, the phoenix-eyed man held someone in his arms, his attacks still fierce, while Qin Mo was tossed around like a rag doll, looking quite comical.
Danfengyan's attacks grew increasingly fierce, the light emanating from the greatsword intensified, and the magic array within the sword was activated. The sword's momentum surged towards King Bernullis like a tidal wave, forcing Bernullis to defend without attacking. His two spiked warhammers protected his entire body, and he was struggling to cope.
Even so, it would be very difficult for Danfengyan to defeat Bernoulli in a short time. At their level, their physical strength and vital energy are profound and enduring, and it is common for them to fight for several hours.
Finally, the phoenix-eyed man lost his temper and casually tossed Qin Mo to the ground, like discarding useless trash. He clearly hadn't controlled his strength, and Qin Mo's stiff body plowed a deep furrow into the solid earth.
Danhuangyan gripped the heavy sword with both hands and let out a soft shout. The sword shone brightly, illuminating the surrounding plains as if it were daytime. The heavy sword pierced through the earth's elemental energy controlled by Bernoulli as if it were nothing, and struck Bernoulli's warhammer heavily. The orc's massive body swayed and staggered backward.
Bernoulliz was now very hesitant. Should he continue fighting and wait for Ulan-Ude's men to realize something was wrong and come to his aid, or should he call his henchmen to help now, or simply disregard his reputation and run away?
