Chapter Three Imperial Edict

Qin Mo put down his book, picked up a cup of tea from the table beside his chair, and sipped it slowly. This leisurely life, unlike anything he had experienced in either of his lives, filled him with immense pleasure. He now spent most of his time cultivating and reading.

He had been in this world for two months and was gradually adapting to his new identity. A few days ago, the black flames flared up again, and before he could even use his "vital energy" to resist, the mark on his chest, like a glutton seeing a delicacy, sucked all the black flames away in one gulp. This finally put Qin Mo's mind at ease.

Qin Mo had been meticulously trained and guided in her cultivation by Qin Lan. She had even used countless resources to aid her cultivation, all in order to cultivate more "vital energy" to resist the burning black flames.

"Vitality" is a mysterious substance cultivated through a unique human cultivation system. It is rich in life force and can greatly enhance the human body and improve combat power.

Qin Mo used all the "vital energy" he cultivated to fight against and consume the black flames, and to repair the internal organs damaged by the black flames.

Over the years, Qin Mo has continuously cultivated his "vital energy," only to have it depleted in the process. Although the hidden dangers of his Nirvana Body have never been resolved, his mastery of the royal secret technique, the "Returning Heart Sutra," has been exceptionally solid, and his "vital energy" has been refined to an unparalleled purity. Not only has he reached the "Profound Realm" at a young age, but he also shows no signs of instability in his foundation.

The cultivators of the Great Xia Dynasty are divided into five realms based on their different stages of cultivation: Earth, Profound, Yellow, and Human.

The Human Realm is the initial stage of cultivation where one develops the Dantian, stores the "primordial energy" between heaven and earth within it, and uses this energy to temper the body and clear the meridians.

The Yellow Realm refers to the gathering of vital energy into a vortex, allowing for effortless control and circulation throughout the body. The body begins to noticeably differ from ordinary people, becoming incomparably powerful. After the vital energy is refined to perfection, one reaches the peak of the Yellow Realm, where one can even project vital energy through the body, activating miniature magic arrays on weapons and armor, resulting in a surge in combat power. Therefore, the peak of the Yellow Realm is a watershed moment for cultivators; a peak Yellow Realm cultivator equipped with specialized weapons and armor can single-handedly take on a group of Human Realm and early Yellow Realm cultivators.

The Profound Realm represents the culmination of Yuan Qi, transforming it into "liquid" and storing it in the dantian. Every part of the body, down to the smallest hair and skin, is nourished by this Yuan Qi. When circulating energy and exerting power, a faint light appears on the skin, a mysterious and indescribable phenomenon. Once the Yuan "liquid" is refined and purified, one can release Yuan Qi outwards, connecting with the surrounding earth's Yuan Qi to kill enemies invisibly. In the Great Xia Dynasty, a Profound Realm cultivator was already capable of establishing a sect or lineage.

As for Earth Realm cultivators, they can already draw upon the earth's elemental energy around them. Earth Realm cultivators have been extremely rare for thousands of years. The birth of each Earth Realm cultivator is accompanied by a redistribution of power, and the rise and fall of a family is directly related to Earth Realm cultivators.

Qin Mo's deceased father was one of the five realm cultivators of the Great Xia Dynasty, a so-called Saint-level expert. He was one of the most powerful beings in the world, hailed as the closest to a god. Qin Mo was baffled by his demise. Couldn't he have escaped if he couldn't win? Who had ever heard of a realm expert failing to escape?

Furthermore, Qin Lan was summoned by the imperial court to Xizhou to help resist the orcs. He was only there to make a cameo appearance, but he died inexplicably. This incident cast a shadow over Qin Mo's heart.

Qin Mo glanced at the book "General History of the Continent" on the table and couldn't help but feel helpless. He had read through all the books in the royal palace, but he was still completely confused and didn't understand the origins of the elves, vampires, sea creatures, dwarves, and orcs in this world.

His origins were illegitimate, and he needed to quickly learn about the world to plan for his future. However, it was inconvenient for him to ask others, so he had no choice but to search for answers in the books he had collected.

"The General History of the Continent" is an authoritative work introducing the history of the continent, but it only contains two short sentences about the origins of various races. "Eighteen hundred years ago, alien races appeared in the world, fought for eight hundred years, and finally formed the 'Millennium Covenant'." Qin Mo learned the general outline after subtly asking Allen and Lin Bo.

Eighteen hundred years ago, various races appeared on this world, and no one knew where they came from, not even Ellen, the elf. After their appearance, they fought with humans for eight hundred years for living space. During these eight hundred years, civilization regressed, people suffered, and no one knew what the future held.

A thousand years ago, the leaders of all sides finally sat down to have a proper talk with humanity. After a long period of secret negotiations, all races except the orcs agreed to a truce and signed a peace treaty.

The covenant stipulated that elves, vampires, sea creatures, and other alien races must not attack humans without cause. If any of them violated the covenant, the other races would unite to punish them. The covenant was valid for one thousand years, hence it was called the "Millennium Covenant."

The orcs, dissatisfied with the fact that most of their territory lay in the harsh northern lands, refused to sign the alliance treaty and withdrew from the talks, vowing to fight for their rightful land under the sun with their bravery and bloodshed. However... thanks to the united efforts of humanity, the orcs were consistently suppressed in the north, and even when they occasionally ventured south, they were quickly driven back.

Six hundred years ago, the orcs suddenly turned their attention to the elven territory—the northwestern region of the Western Continent. Although the elves possessed many powerful warriors, the orcs had mobilized their entire force, giving them an overwhelming numerical advantage. The elven stronghold of Stockholm fell, and the flames of war spread all the way to the elven holy city of Oslo.

During this time, the other races remained strangely inactive, and the proud and aloof Elves did not seek help from any other race. Finally... at the gates of Oslo, the Elven Emperor Achilles single-handedly defeated the Orcish High Shaman Ner'zhul amidst a vast army. The Orcish army collapsed, their corpses littering the battlefield, and they suffered a crushing defeat.
