In a twist of fate, Su Yaoyao becomes a stand-in bride. On their wedding night, her husband sits in a wheelchair, his face disfigured and his mouth twisted, looking like a vengeful spirit. Su Yaoya...
The steps leading up the mountain were very steep. Yu Chiyan held her hand the whole way and walked in front of her. Every time they took a step, Yu Chiyan would pull her up with all his might.
Looking at his sweat-drenched shoulders and back, something inside her was surging wildly.
A cool breeze swept by, carrying with it the sound of a man's heavy breathing.
“Yu Chiyan”.
Su Yaoyao suddenly stopped, withdrew her hand, and called to him.
Feeling the emptiness in his palm, Yu Chiyan turned to look at her, somewhat puzzled.
His deep gaze fell upon her face along with the sky and the setting sun.
Are you tired? Shall I carry you?
Su Yaoyao reached out and touched the hair behind her ear, her voice slightly cool.
What I meant was, I can walk by myself, you don't need to hold my hand.
"Why?"
His voice now sounds like a ray of sunshine in winter.
Su Yaoyao avoided his eyes and looked towards the highest point of the mountain.
He had already pulled her up most of the mountain, and there was still about an hour's journey left. If they continued like this, she was afraid that Yu Chiyan wouldn't be able to reach the top.
Perhaps sensing Su Yaoyao's thoughts, Yu Chiyan smiled, a smile as beautiful as music played on a cello.
"If you're worried about me getting tired, give me a massage tonight."
After saying this, he took Su Yaoyao's hand again, with such strength that she couldn't break free.
...
The Jiang family.
At the dinner table, Jiang's mother placed a piece of bok choy on Jiang Wen's plate; "Xiao Wen, eat some vegetables."
Jiang Wen smiled sweetly; "Thank you, Mother."
Looking at her face, Jiang's mother smiled kindly. "You must be exhausted from working at the company these past few days. You've even lost weight."
Jiang Wen put a mouthful of rice in his mouth; "I'm not tired, everyone has taken good care of me."
At this moment, Jiang's father suddenly sighed. He was getting old and had no heir. Jiang Wen was a girl, and the Jiang family was now facing internal and external troubles and was in turmoil. Many people had their eyes on the Jiang Group, this lucrative piece of meat.
To maintain stability, he had no choice but to let Jiang Wen join the company first. Once Jiang Wen found a suitable person to marry and entered the Jiang family, the Jiang family name would not be changed.
After drinking some soup and clearing his throat, Jiang's father asked, "Xiaowen, how are things going between you and Siye lately?"
Si Ye is the returnee who stood out among a group of elite overseas students.
27 years old, a local of Nancheng, with a clean family background and few family members. Most importantly, he is capable and honest. Jiang's parents are extremely satisfied with him, and Jiang Wen is also very satisfied, putting aside feelings.
only……
Every time she went on a date with Si Ye, there would always be some kind of accident, big or small. When she went shopping with him, someone would bump into him with a milk tea, or he would be chased and bitten by an unleashed pet.
Jiang Wen sometimes wonders if he was born with a knack for being a jinx.
"Si Ye is a nice person, but we've both been quite busy lately and haven't spent much time together, so I don't know how he feels about me..."
When Jiang's mother heard that he was a good person, she immediately smiled. "How about this, you ask Si Ye if he has time, and bring him home for dinner tomorrow night. Let your father and I test how sincere he really is to you, okay?"
Jiang's parents clearly agreed with the idea and looked at her expectantly.
Jiang Wen paused for a moment, then suddenly found it difficult to swallow the food in her mouth. She forced a smile.
"Okay, I'll ask him tomorrow."
Jiang's mother beamed with joy and placed another piece of braised pork on Jiang Wen's plate.
"Here, try this meat and see how it is."
Jiang Wen looked down at the evenly colored, marbled meat in the bowl and pursed his lips.
She didn't actually like braised pork, but Jiang Wen, who had died of a serious illness, did. So Jiang's mother probably assumed she liked it too and didn't want to upset her. So, under her mother's expectant gaze, Jiang Wen endured the discomfort and took a bite, letting the greasy taste assault her mouth.
"Thank you, Mother, it's delicious."
Jiang's mother smiled gently; "I'm glad you like it."
...
By the time Su Yaoyao and Yu Chiyan reached the top of the mountain, it was already dark.
The moonlight quietly climbed to the treetops, and insects chirped merrily all around.
Yu Chiyan pulled Su Yaoyao up the last step and climbed to the Sky Viewing Platform.
Su Yaoyao finally understood what kind of beauty the line from Li Bai's poem, "The bright moon rises over the Tianshan Mountains, amidst the vast sea of clouds," truly meant.
It rises from the mountains, travels through the vast sea of clouds, and casts layer upon layer of silver light.
"Yu Chiyan, look, how beautiful!"
Su Yaoyao, her face flushed and panting, excitedly pulled Yu Chiyan up to look at the sky.
Yu Chiyan gazed at Su Yaoyao's excited face, his eyes and brows filled with a smile.
"Yes, it's beautiful."
If Su Yaoyao were to look down at him, she would surely be captivated by his soft and affectionate gaze.
His gaze shifted from Su Yaoyao's face and he looked up at the full moon.
He held Su Yaoyao's hand in his palm. They were the only two people on the mountaintop. He stood beside Su Yaoyao, and she felt a strange sense of security.
Su Yaoyao shifted her gaze to Yu Chiyan's face. He raised his head slightly, so Su Yaoyao could only see his more beautiful and defined jawline and the faint smile on his lips.
As Su Yaoyao looked at the book, she suddenly remembered something.
"Yu Chiyan, it's getting dark. How are we going to get down the mountain?"
It's also her fault for being so silly, only remembering this now.
Yu Chiyan looked at her furrowed brows, a hint of a smile flashing in his eyes.
"There's a place to stay here, so don't worry."
Su Yaoyao was taken aback; "How come I didn't know there were places to stay here?"
