“Young Master,” Gu Nan lazily glanced at the silver fork that almost touched his cheek, lowered his head and smiled playfully, paused, then tilted his head back and deliberately turned to the side.

Just as the fork was about to touch Gu Nan's face, Wan Sizong's eyes narrowed, and he hurriedly withdrew his hand.

It was too late.

A piece of food sauce got smeared on her fair and clean profile.

"What are you doing?" Wan Sizong roared, a flicker of fear crossing his eyes.

Gu Nan saw this, crossed her arms and leaned back, trying to suppress the corners of her mouth as she said, "Of course I'm just trying to scare you."

"If I were you, I would be thinking about how to explain this to Lu Yushi."

Wan Sizong's face instantly shifted from resentment to rage, but he dared not speak out. Gu Nan found it amusing; the name Lu Yushi was simply too convenient.

"Snap." Wan Sizong threw down the fork, turned around and strode towards the door, as if afraid that if he was a step too late, he would be caught up by the evil spirit.

The fork hit the table leg, rolled around, and came back to Gu Nan's feet. Gu Nan nudged it with his toe and called out, "Young Master, you dropped your fork."

Wan Sizong, who had already reached the door, turned around angrily, gritting his teeth: "Don't be so smug. You and Lu Yushi will break up one day. We'll see."

"Tsk," Gu Nan said nonchalantly, "I'm afraid you won't be able to wait."

They were never even together, so how could they have broken up?

The smile on her lips froze for a moment, her tongue slid half a circle along the inside of her mouth, and she leisurely glanced at Shen Ming, who remained in the reception room, and at his gloomy eyes staring at her.

His brows furrowed, and after a moment he made up his mind. He stared directly at the bodyguard outside the door: "I have no choice, Young Master Shen."

Shen Ming's expression was unfriendly. He had kindly helped someone but was verbally insulted in return. He coldly questioned, "What do you mean?"

Gu Nan glanced at him, and after a few seconds of eye contact, she suddenly let out a long sigh, leaned back in her chair as if all her strength had been suddenly drained away, and even breathing became difficult.

His voice was full of exhaustion: "I'm under the eaves."

She left her words unfinished, giving Shen Ming ample room for imagination. Shen Ming, as expected, followed her downcast gaze and looked outside, where his eyes met those of the bodyguards who were occasionally glancing around the room. He instantly realized, "You're afraid..."

Gu Nan casually shifted her gaze, neither confirming nor denying.

"I see."

You know nothing.

Afraid that making eye contact would make her burst out laughing, Gu Nan lowered her head and said, "It's good that Young Master Shen understands. This isn't the place to talk. We'll have another chance..."

"You're overthinking it. Sizong isn't an outsider. If you apologize to him as I suggested, he might have let you go just now."

Gu Nan: "..."

There's something stupid I don't know whether I should say or not.

“It’s alright, I’ll go see Master Wan again,” Shen Ming paused, “You don’t need to expect Lu Yushi to come and save you. He’s on the mountain making threats to Master Wan, so Master Wan won’t give him any face this time. But don’t worry, with me here, I won’t let anything happen to you.”

After saying that, he turned around and strode towards the door, but turned back halfway there.

Gu Nan: ?

Shen Ming glanced at her, squatted down, picked up the tissue box, carefully discarded the first few soiled tissues, wiped the tissue box several times, and handed it to her with one hand, indicating that she should wipe her face.

Gu Nan stared at the tissue box for a few seconds before taking it.

"Wait for me." Shen Ming turned and left.

The figure walked to the moon gate, turned the corner and disappeared. Gu Nan stared at it for a long time, then looked at the wall covered with green plants at the end of the path. When her neck started to ache, she looked away and mouthed something.

"Idiot."

The time without a cell phone suddenly felt long. A gentle breeze swept over the wall again and again, golden osmanthus petals fell to the ground, and a faint fragrance of flowers wafted in the air, sweet and lingering in the nostrils. The moon gate under the tree was quiet, without a trace of anyone passing by.

Gu Nan wondered how Wan Yi planned to take her away. If too much time passed and everyone noticed that Lu Yushi hadn't come, wouldn't the secret be exposed?

Is it reliable or not?

He cursed inwardly as he climbed up to the window.

The bodyguards looked tense. Gu Nan pointed to herself and said, "Do I look like an idiot to you? Jumping out of the window and running away in front of you?"

The bodyguards exchanged glances.

She saw two words in the bodyguards' eyes—"You look like me."

She rolled her eyes speechlessly, letting their gazes linger as she stared blankly at the sky.

In mid-air, osmanthus blossoms danced gracefully. She yawned listlessly, reached out to catch them, and the fragrance enveloped her as the petals landed perfectly in her palm, like butterflies finally finding a place to rest, quietly sleeping in her hand.

Long eyelashes cast shadows under her eyelids. She touched them lightly with her fingertips; the cool, soft touch soothed her boredom.

"Young Master Lu." The voices of the bodyguards came from the door.

Gu Nan was surprised and slowly turned her head. Lu Yushi came with the wind, his figure tall and straight. He stood in front of the door and fixed his gaze on her. A few golden petals fell on the shoulder of his well-tailored suit, which were then swirled away by the wind he created as he walked, taking away some of the coldness and aloofness of the person in front of him.

The courtyard was filled with the sweet fragrance of osmanthus blossoms, and there seemed to be a faint scent of woody sandalwood.

Suddenly losing her grip, Gu Nan plummeted downwards. She immediately snapped back to reality, averted her gaze, grabbed the window, and jumped back to the ground. She remained there until Lu Yushi strode into the room, unable to compose herself.

His eyes, which were fixed on the ground, were filled with panic, and his long eyelashes trembled wildly. He belatedly realized that Lu Yushi had really come, and that Wan Yi was not making things up.

Once she gets out, she'll definitely settle accounts with Wan Yi!

Why aren't they coming to save her?

"You...how did you get here?"

Lu Yushi lowered his eyes and stared at her for a moment, his voice carrying its usual coldness, but with an unusual undertone at the end: "What happened to your face?"

Gu Nan subconsciously raised her hand to rub her cheek. There was no mirror in the room, so she hastily wiped it with a tissue and didn't pay attention. It turned out she hadn't cleaned it properly: "I probably rubbed it somewhere."

He awkwardly looked away, put his hands in his pockets, and sat down on the fairly clean stool, quietly cracking open on his own.

While you're at it, manually split the two petals in your palm, knead them into a ball, and grind them into juice.

...

If she had known that Lu Yushi was in the Wan family, she would never have used Lu Yushi's name to scare Wan Sizong.

What's the difference between this and running naked in front of Lu Yushi?

His aunt chased Lu Yushi away on a rainy day, and he didn't know if she said anything nasty. He should be grateful that Lu Yushi didn't retaliate. If he heard her spouting such nonsense again, he would probably announce to the world that the two of them had no relationship at all.

The more she thought about it, the more embarrassed she felt, and the tips of her ears turned slightly red.

She exhaled a breath of hot air and muttered a curse under her breath.

No, I need to move to another planet.

"What?"

Gu Nan subconsciously looked up, then quickly lowered her head again, repeating dryly, "Why are you here?"

"Just passing by."

Gu Nan gave an awkward laugh: "What a coincidence." She then tentatively asked, "Did you just pass by?"

Hopefully, she wasn't here all morning, only coming to confront Wan Sizong after hearing his arrogant threats.

"Um."

Gu Nan breathed a sigh of relief, noticing no blame on his face, so he probably didn't know.

"Were you bullied?"

"Me? How could I..." He only managed to utter two perfunctory words when he caught a glimpse of Master Wan and Wan Sizong stepping side by side through the moon gate, both with grim expressions. He swallowed the words that were on the tip of his tongue, too embarrassed to complain to Lu Yushi. Instead, he feigned a wronged and aggrieved tone, speaking specifically to the two outside. His voice took a detour: "How could I not be bullied? I was dragged here for no reason, a table full of food was laid out for me to look at but not eat, and I was even threatened that if I didn't obey, they would disfigure me. What did I do to deserve this?"

When she caught a glimpse of Lu Yu's twitching fingertips, she hadn't quite figured out what she'd said wrong when she suddenly felt a heat on her shoulder. The heat seeped through the thick fabric and onto her skin, making her involuntarily tighten her shoulder blades.

The bodyguards outside could hear the two people inside clearly, but they both seemed to be deaf, and neither had the time to spare any attention.

Lu Yushi's voice was calm, but the tone that reached outside the house carried an undeniable sense of pressure: "Who threatened you?"

Gu Nan stood up abruptly, intending to create the illusion of a romantic relationship for the people outside, but Lu Yushi was quick to help her by supporting her waist.

?

She glanced down, very satisfied, especially when she saw the veins suddenly bulging on Wan Sizong's neck. She was even happier. Where Lu Yushi couldn't see, she winked at Wan Sizong provocatively, her voice feigning grievance: "In the Wan family, of course, he is the eldest young master of the Wan family."

Wan Sizong's expression tightened, and he strode in, saying, "Young Master Lu, it's a misunderstanding."

Gu Nan, true to form, shrank back and deliberately raised her voice: "He wants to sleep with me."

After he finished speaking, not a single bird could be heard inside or outside the house.

Gu Nan clung to Lu Yushi's arm exaggeratedly: "He even threatened me with a fork, saying he would disfigure me if I didn't agree."

The ends of her hair, swaying from side to side, occasionally brushed against the back of Lu Yushi's hand. Lu Yushi's eyes darkened, and his fingertips, which were touching her skin, moved up half an inch unnaturally, separating them by a layer of fabric.

She wasn't good at acting coquettishly; her voice trailed off with a rising tone, and her almond-shaped eyes darted around, glancing at her own face every now and then, occasionally sending a glance outwards. Even without turning around, one could guess the expression on her face as she deliberately tried to provoke Wan Sizong.

"Where's the fork?"

Gu Nan, holding his arm, paused, their eyes met, and she mouthed, "Give me your back?"

Lu Yushi neither agreed nor disagreed.

Gu Nan understood. After all, to outsiders, she was still Lu Yushi's girlfriend. If his girlfriend was bullied by someone else, a normal person would have to get revenge. So she put on an even more dramatic performance, pouting as if she was about to cry, and pointed at Wan Sizong with the back of Lu Yushi's hand, accusing him in a firm voice: "He took it."

Wan Sizong looked puzzled. How could he be so bored as to grab a fork when he clearly asked the servant to clear the table?

"Miss Gu, you should speak reasonably."

Gu Nan got up from Lu Yushi's embrace, took his hand and walked to Wan Sizong, hands on her hips: "He threatened me, are you going to do anything about it?"

The two hands, which had been clasped together, quickly separated, but the itch traveled along the meridians to the heart and lingered for a long time. Lu Yushi's Adam's apple bobbed, and he looked at Wan Sizong, his meaning self-evident.

"No," Wan Sizong stammered, unable to speak, "Young Master Lu, I..."

Master Wan glared at him subtly, stopping him from explaining, and then scolded him as if trying to smooth things over: "Hurry up and apologize to Miss Gu."

"I'm sorry." He said through gritted teeth.

Master Wan chuckled: "Yu Shi, Si Zong doesn't know she's your girlfriend. Since Miss Gu is alright, let's just consider this a case of 'no fight, no friendship'."

Gu Nan rolled her eyes. It was already unexpected that Lu Yushi would speak up for her. She didn't expect to get revenge on Lu Yushi. Master Wan offered her a way out, so she took the opportunity: "Can I leave now?"

"Of course," said Master Wan.

“No.” Lu Yushi.

Gu Nan: ?

“My girlfriend is delicate and will make a fuss if she is wronged. If you can’t give me an explanation, I’ll have to take matters into my own hands.”
