Bu Ling, a vagabond from the apocalypse, transmigrates to a fictional seventies era. She faces a hellish starting difficulty. After a month of playing nice, she eventually sends off all of the orig...
Sang Zi hadn't finished get off work yet. When Bu Ling and Sang Shen arrived, he was engrossed in reading documents. Hearing the knock on the door, he didn't even look up and said, "Come in!"
Sangzhen pushed open the door and entered: "Brother!"
Bu Ling followed closely: "Big Brother!"
Sang Zi looked up at the sound, saw it was the two of them, and a gentle smile appeared on her lips: "You're back?"
Sangshen pulled Buling down to sit, then poured her a cup of hot water and handed it to her: "Here, warm your hands."
Bling took it, holding it in both hands.
Sangshen then sat down. "Brother, I have something to ask you."
Sang Zi closed the file, put down her pen, took off her glasses, looked at Sang Shen with a relaxed expression, and chuckled: "Ask away."
"Did you conspire with your older brother to send me and Lingling away?" Sangshen asked bluntly.
Sang Zi leaned back in her chair, a half-smile on her face: "Why would you think that?"
Sangshen rolled her eyes: "Brother, come on, I know you too well. If it weren't for your instructions, why would our eldest brother send us a telegram at such a convenient time?"
Sang Zi's smile deepened. "Yes!"
Seeing that he admitted it, Sangshen frowned and asked, "Is it Wang Yuelong who wants to do something to us?"
Sang Zi wasn't surprised that her younger brother had thought of this: "Yes!" Otherwise, he wouldn't have acted so quickly.
Sangshen was speechless for a moment because of his brother's frankness, and remained silent for a long time.
Seeing her younger brother's conflicted expression, Sangzi chuckled and asked, "Is there anything else you want to ask?"
Mulberry shook her head: "That's all."
“I have something to say, brother. I want to ask about the two people from our compound who were taken away.” Bu Ling suddenly asked.
Sang Zi seemed quite surprised that Bu Ling would ask this question, but she didn't hide it: "That female comrade had been reported before and had a criminal record. Wang Yuelong found it when he was checking the case files, so he ordered someone to go to your hospital."
"That widow in your courtyard was initially defiant, but after Wang Yuelong used his methods, she confessed to everything and was sent down to a farm."
After hearing this, Bu Ling remained unmoved, simply asking, "What about that old lady?"
Sang Zi thought of the old woman, and her expression became somewhat sorrowful: "That old woman committed suicide."
"Suicide?" Bu Ling and Sang Shen exchanged a glance, then looked at Sang Zi together.
Sang Zi didn't hide anything: "Zheng...you're surnamed Zheng, right?"
Bu Ling nodded: "Grandma Zheng."
"Old Mrs. Zheng had been a concubine of a landlord, which wasn't a big deal in itself, since she was the victim. But after she was taken to the Revolutionary Committee, she found an opportunity to bang her head against a wall, which puzzled us a lot."
"Later, I investigated and found out that when this old lady was a concubine, she was not with an ordinary person, but with a big figure in the Kuomintang before the founding of the People's Republic of China. She was said to be very favored. Later, after the founding of the People's Republic of China, she was transferred to Gu County."
"And her two daughters are also that important person's. I guess she did this for her two daughters. If this matter is found out, her two daughters will also be implicated." Sang Zi succinctly explained Old Mrs. Zheng's life story.
After hearing this, Bu Ling felt a pang of sadness and bitterness in her heart. She didn't know how to describe it, so she simply said that one's birth is not a crime, nor is suffering a crime, but in this turbulent time, these have become unforgivable sins.
In fact, to protect what she wanted to protect, she had no choice but to give up her own life. For a moment, Bu Ling's heart was gripped with a dull pain, and her face involuntarily turned ugly.
Sangshen noticed her cover song and quickly put her arm around her shoulder: "It's okay, it's all over now, I'm here for you!"
Bling rested her head on his shoulder, a tear quickly sliding down her cheek and landing on Sangshen's clothes, leaving a dark stain. It seemed that no matter how much she had seen, she still couldn't get used to corpses.
Sangzi watched the two of them leaning on each other without making a sound to disturb them. Sangzi's smiling eyes were slightly dazed, and when she looked at them, it was as if she was looking at someone else through them.
After a while, Bu Ling composed herself, wiped her face, straightened up, and then remembered something: "Big brother, what about Uncle Yu? Is he alright?"
Sang Zi's eyes flickered slightly, and she came back to her senses, then put on a gentle smile again: "He's fine, he just suffered a bit, but his class status has already been determined, so there's nothing I can do. I just sent him to Xiao Ci's village, where the people are quite nice."
In fact, Wang Yuelong knew perfectly well why Old Man Yu hadn't been demoted, so he didn't go too far with him. His goal was to get information from Old Man Yu that was detrimental to Sangzi, or to get Old Man Yu to admit that he was safe because of Sangzi's protection.
But before they could do anything, Sangzi seized the opportunity and successfully framed them.
"That's good, that's good, it's good that everyone's alright!" Bu Ling breathed a sigh of relief.
Sang Zi smiled and nodded, "Don't worry, there are few doctors in the countryside. Uncle Yu's medical skills can play a great role in Nanshan Village. The villagers will definitely protect him."
Upon hearing this, Sangshen said, "I'll go see him another day; it's been a long time since I've seen that bookworm."
Sang Zi's eyes flickered: "Whatever you say."
It was getting late, and it was time for Sang Zi to get off work. He stood up, put on his glasses, and said to the two of them, "Let's go have dinner at my place."
Sang and Shen didn't refuse and followed him out of the office. As they went downstairs, Sang asked, "Brother, what do you have there?"
Sangzi thought for a moment and said, "Dongzi gave me a piece of beef before he left. I haven't eaten it yet. Let's have that tonight?"
"Okay!" Sangshen readily agreed, then turned to Buling and asked, "Lingling, how do you want to eat it?"
Sangzi: ...
Bu Ling didn't stand on ceremony: "Beef noodles, please!"
