Bu Ling, a vagabond from the apocalypse, transmigrates to a fictional seventies era. She faces a hellish starting difficulty. After a month of playing nice, she eventually sends off all of the orig...
The next day, after a good night's sleep, Buling slowly got up, washed up, took out the leftover meat dumplings from yesterday from her space, made a cup of brown sugar water, and had a simple breakfast.
After breakfast, she washed the clothes she had changed out of yesterday, along with her lunchbox, and boiled a thermos of hot water before riding her bicycle to work.
The people in the compound who weren't at work all looked at Bu Ling's retreating figure with complicated expressions.
They all thought this girl looked so thin and weak that she must be a good-natured person. They never expected her to be such a tough nut to crack. Even the most troublesome old women in their compound, Granny Chen and Granny Lan, couldn't withstand more than two rounds of her attacks before they were defeated and left in disgrace.
They elevated Bling's difficulty level to the same level as Granny Shen and Granny Lan.
No! This girl is even more difficult to deal with than those two, but fortunately she is reasonable. As long as you don't provoke her, she is quite easy to talk to.
Buling had no idea what the people in the compound were thinking. She rode her bicycle leisurely through the streets of the county town, and sincerely felt that she was living a real life now, whereas before she was just existing.
When we arrived at the state-run restaurant, it was still closed.
Buling thought that she should buy a watch as soon as possible, since she goes to work every day and what if she is late without a watch?
After waiting a while, I saw Sister Ma in the distance: "Sister Ma, good morning!"
Sister Ma asked in surprise, "Xiao Bu, so early again?"
Bu Ling said apologetically, "It's not that I didn't know the time; I was afraid of being late, so I simply arrived a little earlier."
Sister Ma smiled but didn't say anything.
After opening the door, the two of them continued with their own tasks.
Manager Zhu was the third to arrive this time, and he went inside after he arrived.
Han Yu is the fourth.
Tan Xiao arrived right on time again.
After 10 o'clock, the state-run restaurant officially opened.
It was another busy noon. It's worth mentioning that today's lunch at Buling consisted of two steamed buns and a tomato and egg soup.
This lunch is absolutely top-notch for this day and age. No wonder Sister Zhang dared to charge a thousand yuan for a waiter's position; it's definitely worth it.
Unfortunately, the handsome young man from yesterday didn't come to dinner.
It's not surprising, given their family background; they eat at state-run restaurants every day.
In the evening, after reconciling the accounts with Manager Zhu and Grandpa Tan, Bu Ling handed over the money and tickets, then left work with her bag.
"Goodbye Manager Zhu, goodbye Grandpa Tan, goodbye Sister Tan Xiao, goodbye Comrade Han, goodbye Sister Ma!"
Manager Zhu nodded.
Grandpa Tan smiled and said, "Goodbye."
Tan Xiao curled her lip, looking utterly disdainful.
After finishing work, Bu Ling didn't go straight home, but instead went straight to the county hospital.
They weren't going to see a doctor; they were heading to the black market next to the county hospital.
She had just arrived in the city and hadn't had time to figure out the layout of the county town yet, so finding a black market wouldn't be easy.
She was just trying her luck this time. Based on her experience reading novels, even if there wasn't a black market near the hospital, there would be vendors selling things. She could just ask around and find out.
As for why I didn't ask acquaintances, well, how could I tell others about such a thing? One can't be too careful.
The state-run restaurant and the county hospital were located in the south and north of the county town, respectively. It took Buling twenty minutes to see the gate of the county hospital by bicycle.
She went around to the back entrance of the county hospital and wandered back and forth.
Suddenly, she saw an older woman emerge from a very narrow alley, carrying a basket covered with a blue cloth, which clearly contained something.
Buling's eyes lit up. She took out a scarf from her spatial storage, covered her head and face, and then approached the place where the old woman had come out without making a sound. Only when she got closer did she see that it was a narrow alley, the kind that could only be passed by one person at a time. No wonder she hadn't found it. If someone hadn't come out of there, she would have missed this alley.
She pushed the bicycle into the narrow alley, and with the back seat, they went into the alley together. After walking for about five minutes, they finally came out of the alley.
After coming out, she saw the two burly men staring at her warily and quickly said, "Brother, I just wanted to buy something on the black market."
One of the skinny, monkey-like men asked, "The code?"
Bling: "..."
Wow, that looks really high-class. You even need a secret code.
“Brother, this is my first time here, I don’t know the password,” Bu Ling explained.
Skinny Monkey and the other man exchanged a glance. Looking at Bu Ling's thin appearance, he didn't seem like a policeman. Skinny Monkey said, "Pay eight cents and I'll tell you the code."
Buling was truly impressed by the black market manager; he really knew how to fleece people. Under the watchful eyes of the two men, she reached into her pocket, took out eight cents from her storage space, and handed it over.
After taking it, the skinny monkey said, "This is the exit. Don't come in here again. If you run into someone who's not easy to talk to, they might beat you up." He earnestly advised.
Bling nodded honestly: "Big brother, where's the entrance? What's the password?"
Another man replied, "The intersection is the second alley to the left of the county hospital, the third house. Knock on the door and say that all roads lead to Rome, and someone will lead you in."
"I understand, thank you both. May I go in now?" These two men were still holding her bicycle hostage.
Skinny Monkey nodded and returned the bicycle to her.
Bling gave each of them two pieces of candy and pushed his bicycle toward the alley ahead.
In the alley, people came and went, some carrying baskets and others carrying bamboo baskets, buying and selling the items they needed. No one shouted loudly, and everyone did so quietly and quickly, even when bargaining.
