Sewing Corpses, Suppressing Ghost Disasters

Humans have Three Souls and Seven Spirits, ghosts have Nine Netherworld Obsessions and Five Aggregates of Fire. But from the time I was born, I was missing an Earth Soul.

From a young age, I ...

Chapter 7 The Groom Mounts His Bride to Welcome His Beloved!

The moment I saw my portrait.

I finally remembered why the female corpse's face looked so familiar.

Isn't that the little girl who came to my house in a luxury car when I was five years old, and I scared her to tears with a doll?

Unexpectedly, twenty years later, she was dismembered.

In those few short seconds, the ghost wedding procession had already stopped in front of us.

The one leading the group was an old woman who looked like a matchmaker. She was staring at us with empty eyes, her mouth stretched into a strange arc, and she was shouting in a shrill voice.

"My dear in-laws, please open the door quickly, lest we miss this auspicious time."

Oh no, this wedding procession is after the woman's corpse!

I snapped out of my daze, lowered my head, and, unable to look any longer, pulled Su Mingyang and ran towards the morgue.

"A ghost! There's a ghost!"

Su Mingyang screamed and ran away, but tripped over his own feet and fell flat on his face.

They didn't even dare to waste time standing up, crawling on the ground using both hands and feet, and they were even faster than me.

When I got to the morgue door, my first instinct was to lock it.

Seeing that the door was bare, I realized that it could only be locked from the outside with a threaded steel lock.

Just as I was looking around for something to block the wedding procession outside, I suddenly saw the brazier placed at the door.

This brazier is used for people to 'step over' the fire when leaving the morgue.

The brazier contained some incense ash and the ashes of burnt paper money.

It is said that incense ash, a substance produced by burning incense in the mortal realm, represents yang and can ward off evil spirits.

Ghosts belong to Yin, and Yin and Yang restrain each other.

In ancient times, thresholds were used to ward off evil spirits. When incense ash was sprinkled on the threshold, it was believed to increase the "yang" attribute.

With the blessing of incense ash, it's like setting up a stronger yin-yang barrier on this defensive line, making it impossible for ghosts to see people or enter the house.

At this point, regardless of whether it's effective or not, just sprinkle it on first.

After I finished doing all that, I turned around and bumped into Su Mingyang's back.

"The corpse... the corpse's eyes... its eyes are open... open."

Su Mingyang's face was extremely pale, and his body was trembling uncontrollably.

Your eyes are open?

I remember the corpse's eyes were closed before it left the house.

But then, strangely, it opened its eyes.

The incense was almost burned out, with only a flickering flame remaining, ready to go out at any moment.

"Quickly cover her ears, don't let her hear the funeral music," I shouted to Su Mingyang.

Su Mingyang quickly covered his ears with his hands.

"It's to block her!" I slapped Su Mingyang's hand away.

"I...I dare not!" Su Mingyang's body trembled even more violently.

I raised my foot and kicked him in the butt.

Su Mingyang stumbled and almost fell headfirst into the coffin.

After letting out a strange cry, he gritted his teeth and forcefully shoved two fingers into the female corpse's ears.

He yelled at me in a tearful voice, "Chen Yan, you son of a bitch! Even if I die, I'll haunt you as a ghost!"

I ignored him, picked up a handful of paper money and scattered it in a circle around the female corpse, then picked up incense and lit it with a lighter.

The moment the flames ignited, I placed incense sticks at the head and feet of the female corpse.

Finally, he picked up the incense, lit it, and bowed once in each of the four directions (east, south, west, and north), while rapidly chanting: "Traveling through the Five Sacred Mountains, known throughout the Eight Seas; Demon King bows his head, guarding my abode; Evil and filth dissipate, the Dao's Qi endures forever..."

Seeing me muttering to myself, Su Mingyang got all sweaty and anxious: "Boss, what are you muttering to yourself?"

I said this is the Mantra for Purifying Heaven and Earth, which my grandfather had recited before.

As I spoke, I waved the incense sticks, letting the smoke fill every corner of the morgue.

"Is this spell even effective?" Su Mingyang swallowed hard.

I shook my head and said I didn't know.

"I don't know what you're talking about..."

Before he could finish cursing, Su Mingyang yelled again, "Holy crap, this female corpse is alive!"

He's alive?

I ran to the coffin and looked down, and I found that the woman's chest was rising and falling rhythmically in time with the funeral music of the wedding procession outside.

The person is dead, how could they still be breathing!

"Thump!"

The woman's body suddenly bounced slightly, and slammed against the coffin with a thud, as if in a spasm.

The paper figures we had placed behind the wall, which we planned to burn later that night, suddenly burst into flames.

The flame was an eerie green.

Su Mingyang didn't dare to cover the female corpse's ears anymore and quickly took a few steps back.

At the same time, the matchmaker's shrill and piercing screams came from outside the door again.

"The bride is all dressed up, wearing a red veil, her husband comes to greet her, wishing her happiness, longevity and good health."

There's a corner between the morgue and the entrance, so I can't see outside.

But I knew that the wedding procession had already crossed the threshold and entered through the incense ash.

The words the matchmaker just shouted were only shouted when she entered the bride's house; they were meant to urge the bride to get ready to leave.

"Thump~ thump~"

As the matchmaker shouted these words, the female corpse in the coffin heaved even more violently, and her limbs twitched wildly, as if she would jump out of the coffin and onto the bridal sedan chair at any moment.

"Quickly, use the Immortal Binding Rope to tie the corpse's feet! It's about to rise from the dead!"

The "Binding Immortal Rope" I'm referring to isn't the magic weapon of Ju Liusun in "Investiture of the Gods," but rather the red silk tied around the legs of a corpse before it's pushed into the crematorium.

Su Mingyang was terrified, his body trembling uncontrollably, as if he had Parkinson's disease. I had just tied the knot when he untied it again.

I was just about to tell him to step aside and I would do it myself.

Before he could even speak, he heard rustling sounds behind him.
