Propelled headlong into the relentless currents of history, Ji Yu finds himself transplanted to the tumultuous prelude to WWII.
Once an ordinary civil servant in his modern existence, Ji Yu i...
Soon, the two parted ways and left. Su Yu left the club ahead of time, while Ning Zhiheng and Kang Shundong nodded to Shao Wenguang and followed him.
Ten minutes later, Takeda Kaede walked out unhurriedly, while Shao Wenguang followed at a distance. Everything was under control!
Ning Zhiheng watched as Su Yu returned to his residence, and then called Xiang Yan.
"Section Chief, everything is going smoothly. We can proceed to the next step!"
"Excellent! The intelligence department is ready. We can launch the deployment plan tomorrow, and we'll soon find out the true identity of this Director Su!" Xiang Yan said with satisfaction.
The next morning, Jin Wenkang, the director of the Second Division of the Planning Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was woken up by his alarm clock. He felt dizzy as soon as he got out of bed. He gritted his teeth, got up, and called the servants in the house to help him wash up.
"Sir, you're not feeling well today, so why don't you go to work? Why don't you take a day off?" the maid advised, seeing that he was in very poor spirits.
Jin Wenkang shook his head. He was a very diligent person and almost never rested because of his health. Moreover, he had always been in good health. What was wrong with him today?
"I'll skip breakfast; I really have no appetite. Arrange for the driver to prepare the car, and I'll leave after resting for a bit!" Jin Wenkang insisted.
Before long, Jin Wenkang's car drove out of his residence.
At that moment, in a car not far from the roadside, three intelligence officers watched as Jin Wenkang's car drove out of the hospital gate.
"Hey Lao Lin, didn't we give him sleeping pills? Why aren't they working?" an intelligence officer asked, puzzled.
"Was the dosage too low?" A member of the intelligence department standing nearby asked, equally puzzled.
"Nonsense, would I dare to take too much? Too many sleeping pills can kill people. I can't afford to get myself into trouble for killing a diplomat!" Old Lin curled his lip, "I'm not taking the blame for this."
"Never mind, luckily we had a backup plan. I tampered with his fuel tank, so he ran out of fuel after driving only a short distance!" The first intelligence officer to speak waved his hand, thankfully he had a plan.
"Start the car, let's follow. If there's any further trouble, we'll just crash into him and cause a traffic accident. In short, we can't let him go to work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today!"
In Su Yu's office at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Su Yu prepared the documents, all of which required the signature of Director Jin Wenkang. He then went to the door of Director Jin Wenkang's office across the street.
He knocked on the door, pushed it open, and saw Jin Wenkang's secretary cleaning. He couldn't help but ask, "Secretary Song, why hasn't the director arrived yet?"
"No, the director is always very punctual. He usually arrives much earlier than usual. I don't know what's wrong with him today?" Secretary Song replied.
"Alright, I'll come back in a bit!" Su Yu nodded helplessly, turned and left, returning to his office, where he poured himself some tea and picked up a newspaper to read slowly.
Another half hour passed, and then we heard voices from the other end of the line.
"Secretary Song, is Director Jin not here?" a man's voice rang out.
"Ah! It's Secretary Chen. The section chief hasn't arrived yet today. Is there something you need?" came Secretary Song's voice.
"Well, there's an important document I need to deliver to Director Jin personally, but I don't know when he'll be able to come!" Secretary Chen said hesitantly. "Alright, I'll come back later!"
"Okay, he should be here soon. The director is always punctual, but something might have kept him late today!" Secretary Song explained.
The footsteps faded into the distance; it must have been Secretary Chen walking away slowly.
Upon hearing the entire process, Su Yu's heart skipped a beat. What an important document this was! The Planning Department was the department within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with access to the most information. Every measure that needed to be implemented required the Planning Department to prepare a plan in advance. In his position, Su Yu had already stolen a lot of useful information for the Japanese!
Twenty minutes later, footsteps sounded, and Secretary Chen's voice rang out: "Secretary Song, hasn't Director Jin arrived yet?"
"I'm so sorry, the director hasn't arrived yet. Why don't you give me the documents and I'll pass them on for you?" Secretary Song said.
"Never mind, then I won't trouble myself! I'll wait a little longer!" Secretary Chen hesitated for a moment, but still did not agree!
At this moment, Su Yu opened the office door and saw Secretary Chen's back as she turned to leave.
"Secretary Chen, it's been a long time! Why didn't you come over for a visit? You seemed to be in a hurry!" Su Yu said with a smile.
Su Yu also knew this Secretary Chen; he was the confidential secretary in the Planning Department's office, and the two of them would greet each other when they met.
"It's Director Su! Oh, I've lost my mind and forgotten that your office is right here. Well then, I'll trouble you. I'll just have to rest here for a bit!" Secretary Chen said with a smile that narrowed his eyes to slits, looking quite relieved.
He was secretly pleased. If Su Yu hadn't opened the door to call him this time, he would have had to take the initiative to knock on the door and find him when he came back in twenty minutes. However, the whole process would have seemed unnatural, far less effective than Su Yu coming to him himself. It seemed that Su Yu was indeed a problem!
Secretary Chen entered Su Yu's office, and after exchanging a few pleasantries, Su Yu naturally steered the conversation to the file folder in Secretary Chen's hand.
"What brings you to visit our Second Division today?" Su Yu turned around, poured Secretary Chen a cup of tea, handed it to him, and asked with a smile.
Secretary Chen, looking flattered, quickly accepted the tea and replied with a smile, "I'm so busy all day, I don't have any free time. Just now, an important document came from the office, and I have to personally deliver it to Director Jin of the Second Division. I've already made several trips, but Director Jin isn't at work today. This is my second trip, and he's still not here. I'll have to come a third time later. It's quite a journey! Sigh!"
