Chapter Ninety-Two: A Calm Escape

The remaining four agents quickly found cover nearby, and Ning Zhiheng found himself in a standoff with them.

At the same time, Wu Quanjiang and others had already run to the location where Ning Zhiheng had ambushed Zheng Mingshan and his group. They saw the ground littered with the corpses of spies, all of them with bullets in their heads, their flesh mangled and bloody. The scene was horrific and shocking!

The group didn't have time to look closely; they quickened their pace and soon disappeared around the street corner.

After Ning Zhiheng confronted the four teams for a moment, he looked back and saw that Wu Quanjiang and the others had disappeared without a trace, and only then did he feel relieved.

At this moment, he hesitated! Should he retreat now? Or should he hold out a little longer and buy Wu Quanjiang and his group enough time to evacuate?

After some consideration, he decided to hold out a little longer. To be honest, he didn't take the four Party Affairs Investigation Department agents hiding behind the bunker below seriously.

Starting early this morning, he first went to the Party Affairs Investigation Department's safe house and killed three agents of the Party Affairs Investigation Department, including Zhang Pei.

Then just now, he shot and killed a total of nine agents of the Party Investigation Department in the street. He felt that these agents of the Party Investigation Department were far less capable than he had expected in terms of combat effectiveness.

To put it bluntly, the combat skills of these agents from the Party Affairs Investigation Department were far inferior to those of his operatives.

They lacked vigilance when carrying out missions, their marksmanship was significantly worse during street shootouts, and their ability to adapt to unexpected situations was even worse.

In shooting duels, the shooting positions of both sides are unreasonable, and the tactics are rather chaotic.

Throughout the battle, the most threatening thing to him was that shot from the agent just now.

At this point, Ning Zhiheng had a general assessment of the combat effectiveness of the field operations personnel of the Party Affairs Investigation Division. That is, their combat effectiveness was significantly inferior to that of the Military Intelligence Investigation Division's operations team.

Come to think of it, the field agents of the Party Affairs Investigation Department are all trained by themselves on the training ground.

The operatives in the Military Intelligence Investigation Division are all elite personnel selected from the military, forged through life-or-death battles on the battlefield.

Based on the combat skills Ning Zhiheng learned during his two years of study at the Army Officer School, he was no match for the members of his own action team.

Ning Zhiheng relied on the magical enhancement of the Bodhi Tree to improve his physique in a cheating manner.

In addition, his unique early warning senses are like a cheat code in battle, greatly reducing the chance of him getting injured.

Therefore, he did not feel that the field agents of the Party Affairs Investigation Department posed much of a threat to him.

So he decided to hold on a little longer to buy Wu Quanjiang and the others enough time.

The four spies hiding here were also extremely anxious. Wu Quanjiang and his three companions were cornered on this main street, but so far no gunshots had been fired, and the street was quiet.

At this point, Wu Quanjiang and his four companions should have encountered Zheng Mingshan's group, but there has been no movement at all!

They already had a bad feeling, fearing that Deputy Captain Zheng and the other team members had already died for their country.

The enemy that attacked this time was so powerful that even Captain Zheng and his many men were still missing and their fates were unknown.

Looking at the corpses of his two companions beside him, now there were only four of them left. Outnumbered and outmatched, they were likely to meet a grim fate today.

My heart was pounding with anxiety and extreme tension. Thankfully, only one gunman had appeared so far, and although he was terrifyingly fierce, at least I could hold my ground. If another enemy attacked, I fear I would truly be sacrificing my life for the Party and the country today!

For a moment, the battle between the two sides was quiet as Ning Zhiheng stalled for time, buying time for Wu Quanjiang and the others to evacuate.

The four agents were also stalling for time, hoping to buy time for reinforcements. After all, this was Nanjing, and in their view, they were soldiers and the underground Communists were thieves. The sound of gunfire, regardless of which side's reinforcements arrived, would be beneficial to them.

At this point, they were no longer concerned with capturing Wu Quanjiang. Their primary concern was ensuring their own safety!

Both sides hoped to drag out the time, and time ticked by. About ten minutes later, Ning Zhiheng, with his keen hearing, heard the sound of a vehicle engine coming from afar.

Oh no! Enemy reinforcements have arrived. There's no time to waste; after all, personal safety is more important than holding off the enemy. Besides, he now believes Wu Quanjiang and the other three have already safely evacuated!

Without further hesitation, he stepped back, his movements as light as a cat's, and swiftly departed.

Hearing the scraping sound of bricks and tiles on the roof, the four agents realized that the menacing-looking gunman on the opposite roof was gone. They all breathed a sigh of relief, as if they had just returned from the gates of hell.

One of the secret agents breathed a sigh of relief and said, "Thank God, that devil is gone. I'm lucky to be alive today!"

A spy standing nearby hesitated for a long time before asking tentatively, "Should we still give chase?"

This remark drew sidelong glances from the other three agents, and seeing this, he wisely shut his mouth.

Soon, they also heard the sound of a car engine, and they were immediately invigorated; reinforcements had finally arrived.

Several military vehicles sped over and stopped at the street corner, where Duan Xingzhou arrived with a large team of personnel.

As soon as I got out of the car, I saw four secret agents blocked at the street corner, and two corpses on the ground. My heart tightened immediately. Oh no, something bad had happened! If the arrest of Wu Quanjiang had gone smoothly, it wouldn't have turned out like this.
