Chapter 283: Birds of a feather

Helian Jue was furious and instinctively wanted to chase after him.

Xia Ningxi swayed and fell towards Huo Nanxiao, blocking Helian Jue's path as well.

"You—" Helian Jue was furious.

Before he could even finish uttering a single word, Huo Nanxiao grabbed Helian Jue's clothes: "Who gave you permission to push her?"

Helian Jue was in a hurry to find An Yao and did not realize that he had pushed Xia Ningxi in his haste. Suddenly, Huo Nanxiao grabbed his clothes and Helian Jue said impatiently, "Let go of me."

Huo Nanxiao narrowed his eyes dangerously: "Apologize."

Helian Jue glanced at Xia Ningxi and hurriedly said, "I'm sorry."

Huo Nanxiao's anger finally subsided.

Helian Jue rushed to the door in a few strides and asked, "Where is An Yao?"

Upon hearing this, the others realized that one person was missing from the private room.

Song Xiaoqing said, "Oh right, why is one person missing?"

Jin Mingxi said, "They probably went to the restroom."

Helian Jue sternly ordered several bodyguards to search the restroom, but it was empty and there was no one there.

"Find it for me!" Helian Jue instantly flew into a rage.

Xia Ningxi said, "Young Master Helian, why are you in such a hurry? Isn't she your girlfriend? She'll be back in a minute. What if you scare the guests with all this fuss?"

Helian Jue looked at Xia Ningxi with a gloomy face.

Xia Ningxi immediately hid next to Huo Nanxiao, clinging to his chest with both hands and saying pitifully, "Nanxiao, your friend is so fierce. I don't want to stay here anymore. Let's go home, okay?"

Helian Jue's attitude angered Huo Nanxiao, who grabbed Xia Ningxi's hand and walked out of the private room.

At this time, Helian Jue's men had already conducted a thorough search of the entire floor, and several others were heading towards the stairs.

Huo Nanxiao said, "An Yao's escape is related to you, isn't it?"

Xia Ningxi said, "I don't know what you're talking about."

Huo Nanxiao didn't press Xia Ningxi further, saying, "You'll stay at my place tonight, don't go anywhere else."

"What about the child?" Xia Ningxi asked.

Huo Nanxiao said, "I'll take them all home."

He drove to the Drunken Courtyard and picked up Huo Yuan and Xia Xingxing together.

Xia Chuchu was very sad when she saw her two older brothers leave. She held their hands with tears in her eyes and cried very sadly.

Huo Nanxiao stared intently at the aggrieved Xia Chuchu, but in the end, he didn't take her into the car.

Huo Yuan and Xia Xingxing were very upset about this. After returning home, they were sullen and didn't know why Huo Nanxiao had gone back on his word after agreeing to let them stay in the rented house with Xia Chuchu.

She was surprised.

Huo Nanxiao knew that Helian Jue had arrived, and said to Xia Ningxi, "You go upstairs first."

She had barely left when Helian Jue got out of the car and rushed in.

"Where is she?" Helian Jue asked angrily.

Huo Nanxiao said, "Who are you looking for?"

Helian Jue said, "An Yao is missing. Your woman helped. Tell her to hand An Yao over."

Huo Nanxiao said, "She doesn't know An Yao. It's late now, so don't go crazy in my house."

Helian Jue said angrily, "I've already seen the surveillance footage. Xia Ningxi is highly suspicious. I'm certain she helped An Yao escape. Huo Nanxiao, hand her over. I'll leave once I've gotten the information I need."

Huo Nanxiao said coldly, enunciating each word clearly, "Do you want to listen to what you're saying?"

Helian Jue's anger subsided somewhat, but he was still furious. He knew this was Huo Nanxiao's territory, and he couldn't act recklessly here. Calming down a bit, he said, "An Yao's mental state has been poor lately, and she has suicidal tendencies. I must find her. Xia Ningxi knows where she is, right?"

After saying that, Helian Jue turned and left angrily.

Huo Nanxiao went upstairs and found Xia Ningxi eavesdropping. He sneered, "You heard everything?"

Xia Ningxi gave an awkward smile.

Huo Nanxiao said, "Now you can confess honestly?"

Xia Ningxi muttered to herself, "I didn't do anything."

“We’ve checked the surveillance footage. Helian Jue isn’t stupid. If I hadn’t been protecting you today, you would have been taken away by him already,” Huo Nanxiao said.

Xia Ningxi said, "I only tripped his men. He can't find any evidence. Even if he takes me away, he won't get anything out of me."

Huo Nanxiao said, "Helian Jue said that An Yao has suicidal tendencies, and it would be very dangerous if she disappeared."

Xia Ningxi said, "I think it's because he's around that An Yao is so upset."

Huo Nanxiao said, "It won't do you any good to interfere in Helian Jue's affairs."
