Chapter 50 I Want Mommy

Xia Ningxi had been gone for some time, dealing with that troublesome man named Huo Jinchuan the whole time. Little did she know that the hospital had already spread the news about her in the hour she was gone.

They even said things like, "What an incredibly handsome guy is pursuing Xia Ningxi."

When Huo Nanxiao arrived at the hospital, he happened to overhear people discussing this matter; it was impossible for him not to know.

"Just an ordinary patient?" Huo Nanxiao narrowed his eyes dangerously, and his aura dropped several degrees without him even realizing it.

Huo Yuan couldn't help but glance at Huo Nanxiao a few more times. Why was Daddy angry?

"You are Huo Yuan's personal doctor now. Did I give you permission to see other patients? Is he here to see you for treatment, or to have a romantic chat with you?" Huo Nanxiao's gaze was icy and his voice sharp.

Xia Ningxi sneered: "I didn't affect Huo Yuan. So what if I met other people? What's it to you?"

"If anything happens to A-Yuan because you're not here, can you bear the responsibility?" Huo Nanxiao said sternly.

Xia Ningxi said, "I left while Huo Yuan was asleep. I specifically asked Dr. Yang to stay with him before I left, so nothing will happen."

"Xia Ningxi!" Huo Nanxiao was furious.

Huo Yuan, who was standing nearby, quickly grabbed Huo Nanxiao and said, "Daddy, you're not allowed to be mean to girls."

"Daddy is going too far. I'm not a child anymore. I don't need Dr. Xia to watch over me all the time. If she has a boy she likes, then let her date. Why are you angry?" Huo Yuan asked, looking puzzled.

Huo Nanxiao said with a dark face, "Children shouldn't interfere in adult matters."

"I'm a good boy, Daddy, don't make things difficult for Dr. Xia. She's very good to me. If she wants to go out to see patients, let her go. It's no big deal. As long as she can cure my illness, that's all that matters." Huo Yuan still thought Huo Nanxiao was being unreasonable.

There was a small soccer field in the hospital, where several children were playing soccer and some patients were taking a walk. Huo Nanxiao then took Huo Yuan downstairs.

Huo Yuan walked very slowly; for every step the adults took, he had to take ten steps to keep up. He held tightly to Huo Nanxiao's hand, afraid of falling.

Huo Yuan saw a child about his age being picked up by his mother as he went down the steps, and the child quickly made it down the steps in just two steps. His eyes were filled with envy.

"Daddy, I want Mommy's hug too." The little guy looked up pitifully.

Huo Nanxiao said, "You can let your mommy hold you after she wakes up."

"No, I want it now." Huo Yuan blinked his pitiful, aggrieved eyes.

Huo Nanxiao picked up Huo Yuan and carried him down the steps.

"I don't want Daddy, I want Mommy," Huo Yuan said, his eyes red.

Huo Nanxiao frowned and said, "A Yuan, stop fooling around."

Huo Yuan was on the verge of tears: "Why doesn't Daddy love me at all? Other kids who aren't lame get to be carried by their mommies, why don't I? Daddy keeps telling me Mommy will wake up, why hasn't she woken up yet after all this time? Is Daddy lying to me?"

His voice was hoarse as he accused Huo Nanxiao, word by word.

He was so envious of other people who had mothers, but he didn't. Huo Yuan didn't know what he had done wrong. Why did he not have what others had? All he wanted was a hug from his mother. Was that too much to ask?

Huo Yuan cried very sadly.

Huo Nanxiao then realized that the entire football field was filled with families, including fathers, mothers, and children. They were all families, and even if one of them was sick, they were still happy together.

Huo Yuan was envious when he saw other children being held in their mothers' arms.

Huo Yuan pointed to the small dragonfly in the distance: "What's that? Is it an insect?"

Xia Ningxi discovered that Huo Yuan knew nothing about the outside world; he thought everything that moved was a big bug that would bite.

But that's not actually the case.

Perhaps the Xia family members just liked to scare Huo Yuan with big insects and rats, which is why he was so afraid of everything outside.
