Gentle, rational, and inwardly strong gong (Jiang Xu) vs. genius, madman, emotionally stunted shou (Gu Li).
Jiang Xu was reborn, and coincidentally, the person he was reborn as was also named...
Jiang Chen saw a figure appear at the alleyway, and the dark figure ran towards them. "Run!" he shouted and rushed out.
The remaining six reacted quickly and followed Jiang Chen forward.
Gu Li spoke up as they ran, "A ghost is chasing us. Guess who it is?"
Lu Chao followed behind and said, "You, we might as well take you with us."
One person followed another on the already narrow path, their hurried footsteps creating a chaotic and noisy sound. The air carried a faint smell of dust, which was completely disrupted by the seven people running around.
Jiang Chen called out, "Wait a minute!" He gave them a little time to breathe, but not much.
Jiang Xu managed to stop just behind him, but Gu Li was rushing too fast and didn't have enough time to catch up.
When he tried to stop, he pressed himself against Jiang Xu's back. To avoid their heads hitting each other, he tilted his head slightly, and his cheek brushed against Jiang Xu's ear due to the momentum.
Their hair intertwined and missed each other in the darkness, touching and then separating.
After regaining his balance, Gu Li turned his head and said to Jiang Xu from a very close distance, "It's too dark. I really didn't mean to." He then turned to leave.
Jiang Xu grabbed Gu Li's hand and led her forward two steps before letting go to create some distance. "If you step back any further, it'll become a game of Jenga."
Gu Li looked behind him and saw Xu Lang behind him. The distance between him and Xu Lang was greater than that between him and Jiang Xu, so Xu Lang had also stopped. But Xie Tao bumped into him.
After that, it really turned into a game of Jenga, with the four people at the back sticking together.
Gu Li said, "It's a pity I don't have a phone and it's too dark here, otherwise I really wanted to take a picture of you guys."
The group separated and ran very fast, putting distance between themselves and their pursuers, who were probably still chasing them.
Jiang Xu looked around in the beam of Jiang Chen's flashlight. "We've run into a dead end. This place is a maze. It seems we took the wrong turn at that fork in the road."
Jiang Chen: "So what do we do now?"
Gu Li said, "Little brother, the first step is to turn off the flashlight."
Xu Lang said, "Stop thinking about ghost stories. Wake up, Li."
Gu Li: "He's fully conscious. This flashlight is like a locator light; even if that person didn't run to the side with us, we'll see him right away."
Jiang Chen quickly turned off the flashlight and lowered his voice, "But what should we do now?"
Jiang Xu, "How about we take the initiative?"
Gu Li: "That's good. Anyway, we'll make mistakes if we keep running. Let's back up a little, sneak up behind that person, and then chase after him."
Lü Chao said, "I think it's a good idea. He's definitely more familiar with the area than we are. Now we have someone to guide us. Let's go."
The six of them walked back quickly and lightly. Their vision had adjusted to the darkness, and they could see the outlines of the people around them.
They returned to the fork in the road, but didn't immediately see another dark figure. That person had most likely taken the other path; the staff member had some experience navigating the map and had chosen the correct route.
What they need now is to get on the right track and then wait for the opportunity to come to them.
They hadn't walked far when they heard footsteps approaching, and a dark figure emerged from around a corner not far away.
This time, Gu Li was the first to walk. He whispered a reminder, "Coming," and then skillfully changed his voice, "Where are you running to!" He stomped his foot, making a clear sound, and then started running.
There were many people behind him, making various noises one after another. The sounds on the path were very concentrated, all rushing towards the dark figure that appeared around the corner.
The shadowy figure was taken aback at first, then exclaimed, "Damn!" He ran straight back in the direction he had come from. The distance between them was not far to begin with, and Gu Li's unexpected appearance only shortened the distance further.
The shadowy figure was tense, a feeling of being overtaken compelled him to keep running.
After running for a while, the other shadowy figure, who had been waiting to take over, heard footsteps and looked over. When they got closer, he realized that they were with him. "Did I miss them? I didn't see anyone!"
The person who ran past him glanced at him, tugged at him, and shouted, "Run!"
Then, not understanding why, he started running too, trying to ask something as he ran, when he heard a jumble of noises behind him.
He glanced back and saw that Gu Li had come prepared; he had asked Jiang Chen for a flashlight, which came in handy.
Gu Li held the flashlight to his chin and turned it on, his face instantly becoming eerie under the light and shadow. "Stop..." he said in a drawn-out, mournful voice.
The person who looked back immediately turned back, and then the person who had called him to run together discovered that he had suddenly become faster than them.
When they were almost at the exit, they realized that the sound behind them had disappeared. They paused and looked back, only to find that there was no one there. They looked at each other in bewilderment.
"Weren't you the one chasing someone? How come you're the one being chased? Besides, we're the staff!"
"The usual procedure is to approach them from behind, tap the last person on the shoulder, and then I'll chase after them."
"Yes, what's the problem?"
"I don't know why they had flashlights this time, but more importantly, they spotted me as soon as I appeared at the alleyway!"
"Then can't you catch up with people? You're always running around, don't tell me you've lost them."
"I really did lose them."
The two looked at each other again, "So we're afraid they'll chase us? That's not right."
Don't you think they're pretty scary?
Silence. Well, he probably really thinks so, especially after that turn of his head. He's got all the material for tonight's nightmares.
