Gentle, rational, and inwardly strong gong (Jiang Xu) vs. genius, madman, emotionally stunted shou (Gu Li).
Jiang Xu was reborn, and coincidentally, the person he was reborn as was also named...
Gu Li sat down on the sofa. He saw Jiang Xu was about to leave, so he reached out and grabbed him, "You haven't finished watching yet?"
Jiang Xu glanced at the coffee table, fumbled for the remote in the dark, and pressed pause. "Let's see later, does it not hurt anymore?"
Gu Li still didn't let go. "Actually, it doesn't hurt that much. Why don't we finish watching it first?"
Jiang Xu: "I wasn't that hungry this year, so I'll eat next year?"
Hearing this, Gu Li let go, "Look at what you're saying, don't joke around with your health."
Jiang Xu turned on the light and glanced at Gu Li sitting on the sofa. "Sit still."
Gu Li nodded, "I understand. But don't use plaster casts as warnings anymore, or I'll have nightmares."
Jiang Xu: "Good to know."
Gu Li sat sideways on the sofa, looking towards the French windows. On this rainy day with lightning and thunder, he was surprised to find himself so calm.
It was as if the sea had been frozen in place, leaving only calm.
When Jiang Xu returned with the first-aid kit, he saw Gu Li looking out the window with a faint smile on her face, a smile that held a hint of gentleness. "What good news have you thought of?"
Gu Li looked at Jiang Xu, "Hmm?"
Jiang Xu pointed to the corner of his mouth, "You have a very nice smile."
Gu Li's fingertip paused at the corner of his mouth. He lowered his head, his bangs concealing his emotions for a moment, then he raised his head, the corner of his mouth curving upwards with the movement of his fingertip. "You look good even when you smile."
Jiang Xu sat down on the sofa. "Even if you praise me now, I won't be lenient with you later. I'll make you suffer a bit, so remember to be careful next time."
Gu Li said, his voice filled with laughter, "So ruthless." "Brother Xu." His laughter deepened.
Jiang Xu paused for a moment, then said, "I'm not falling for that trick anymore."
Gu Li, "Huh?" His tone carried a hint of disappointment. Just as Jiang Xu was wondering if he should change his tune, he called out again, "Brother Xu, Brother Xu..." Then he looked at Jiang Xu with bright eyes, "Don't be so heartless, can you call out a couple more times?"
Jiang Xu chuckled, "You think this is a promotion, buy one get two free?"
Gu Li tilted her head, "Sending three isn't out of the question either."
Jiang Xu said, "It's buy one get three free, wouldn't it be inappropriate if I didn't get tempted?"
Gu Li said, "Yes, then you'll be at a loss." He lowered his voice as if he were coaxing someone, his slightly hoarse tone perfectly controlled.
Jiang Xu: "Alright then, bring it over."
Gu Li wanted to lean closer to Jiang Xu, but Jiang Xu grabbed her shoulder and said, "Don't move, or I'll return you."
Gu Li thought for a moment, "Returning it isn't impossible, but how do we do it?" He smiled and looked at Jiang Xu.
Jiang Xu smiled and said, "I'll refund you tenfold if it's fake. Give it back to me." He knew exactly what Gu Li was thinking; returning the goods wouldn't be something he could do by calling him "brother."
“Brother Xu…” Gu Li suddenly spoke up, then blinked, “Once sold, no returns or exchanges.”
Jiang Xu feigned a sigh, "Fine, I give up." He pointed at Gu Li's trouser leg, "Pull it up so I can see."
Gu Li's fall was quite severe; the sound was loud, and her leg looks terrible now.
Jiang Xu reached out and tapped it lightly. "You're drawing on your own legs, right? They're blue now, then purple in a couple of days, then black in another couple of days. And after they're healed, you'll have to prepare to draw them again next time, right?"
Gu Li shook her head, her tone firm, "I'm not drawing anymore. It's so boring to draw the same thing over and over again."
Jiang Xu, "Are you sure?"
Gu Li: "Yeah, don't imitate that either."
Jiang Xu: "I can't imitate that. This is the behavior of someone as sophisticated as you."
"Hiss," Gu Li inhaled softly, "It's protesting, don't say anything more."
Jiang Xu rubbed his palms together to warm them up. "I think it's you who's protesting."
Gu Li smiled and said, "I'll express it on its behalf."
After that, Gu Li could no longer laugh. The heat and pain from the rubbing came one after another, and the smell of medicine filled his nose. He frowned slightly.
Jiang Xu saw Gu Li's expression. He said he wouldn't be gentle, but he had already tried his best. However, pain was inevitable. "If you can't, make a sound, and I'll pretend I don't hear you."
Gu Li: "No, you can't hear me and I can't call out either, but I can still do it."
Hearing the person's stubborn words, Jiang Xu softened his movements. "You should take a picture and show it to Ji Hai, so he can slowly and carefully talk to you about it."
Gu Li hissed, his leg trembled, "No, then I'm really going to have nightmares."
Jiang Xu: "You should do something. You're just sleeping too much, always running around."
Gu Li shook her head, "No, that's all the energy of a young person."
Jiang Xu: "Alright, young man, your energy needs a rest."
Jiang Xu rubbed the ointment until it was fully dissolved and then stopped, saying, "That's enough. You've really had a lot of bad luck."
Gu Li looked at his legs. "Heroes have always had tragic fates," he said, then raised his chin. "Got it?"
Jiang Xu said, "I understand now. So even villains have their share of misfortunes." He stood up with a slight smile. "You are one of them."
Gu Li clicked her tongue softly, "You don't understand at all. If someone like me is considered a rebel, then the rebel is the protagonist."
Jiang Xu clapped his hands. "Next time you fall, fall face down on the ground. That way you won't get hurt."
Gu Li said, "Since your brother's foot is still hurting, let him have his way. That's enough."
Jiang Xu smiled softly and went to the bathroom. The medicated oil was a bit sticky, and water only rinsed off some of it from his hands. He squeezed out some hand soap and rubbed it in.
The water flowed softly. He looked at his hands, but then thought of Gu Li's leg. The injured area was particularly noticeable, a bright blue patch on the fair skin.
He felt that Gu Li's injuries were always very noticeable, whether on his hands, neck, or legs, making them easy for people to see. He thought it was best for him not to get injured.
Otherwise, he'll be uncomfortable, and neither will you be. It's not a win-win situation.
Gu Li sat alone on the sofa with her head slightly lowered, glancing every now and then in the direction Jiang Xu had left, wondering why he hadn't returned yet.
When Jiang Xu came back, he saw Gu Li hanging his head as if he was in a daze. The next moment, Gu Li turned around and said, "Jiang Xu," he paused and said, "I'm fine, but there's something wrong with my clothes."
Jiang Xu thought for a moment, "Then you can wear mine?"
Gu Li paused, "Shouldn't you be coming with me to collect it?"
Jiang Xu walked over and sat down. "Save your breath. Look at your legs. You're still putting away clothes," he said, picking up the remote control. "I'll put you away first."
Gu Li: "I'm not lame, I'll be fine tomorrow."
Jiang Xu readily agreed, "Then we'll collect it tomorrow when it's ready."
Gu Li said, "But I've already remembered, and I feel a little uncomfortable not accepting it."
Jiang Xu held the remote control, turned his head and looked directly at Gu Li. He looked at him silently and asked in a low voice, "Where do you feel uncomfortable?"
Gu Li slumped onto the sofa. "I feel great everywhere, and I don't feel uncomfortable anymore. Let's keep watching."
He pointed to the television and said, "Turn it on." His voice was flat, mimicking an electronic tone.
Jiang Xu canceled the pause, got up and turned off the lights again. "Turn it on," he replied to Gu Li.
