Gentle, rational, and inwardly strong gong (Jiang Xu) vs. genius, madman, emotionally stunted shou (Gu Li).
Jiang Xu was reborn, and coincidentally, the person he was reborn as was also named...
Gu Li lay on the bed, looked at Jiang Xu who was flipping through a storybook, thought for a moment and said, "Hmm, that works too."
When the story shifted from a sweet and lovely fairy tale to a dark one, Gu Li was filled with questions. He sat up, pressed the book down from Jiang Xu's hands, and glanced at it. "You read it quite attentively, but what you said has absolutely nothing to do with it."
Jiang Xu held the book with a calm expression. "Of course there is. I just expanded on it a bit. It's still basically the same story."
Gu Li looked down at the book and then up at Jiang Xu. "Let's not beat around the bush. What do you think the next line is?"
Jiang Xu shifted his gaze from the book to Gu Li, and asked in a gentle voice, "What is it?"
Gu Li curled his lips into a smile. "You're not lying through your teeth," he tapped the page with his fingertip. "I'm talking about you."
Jiang Xu quickly closed the book, and Gu Li quickly withdrew his hand. He looked at the person who had dodged and said with a smug expression, "You reacted pretty quickly."
Gu Li's fingertips were still in the air when she pointed directly at Jiang Xu's chest. "You've got a lot of ideas, huh?"
Jiang Xu put down the book. "I just wanted to tell you some nice stories. What did I do wrong?" He had a sad expression on his face.
Gu Li chuckled, his fingers trembling as he touched his chest. "That's right, it's all my fault." He said, pulling Jiang Xu down to lie down with him. "Come on, continue."
Jiang Xu lay down next to Gu Li. "The books are all gone, I can't lecture anymore." He spread his hands, looking like he had no choice.
Gu Li, "Are you sure you need the book?"
Jiang Xu, "You really want to hear that?"
Gu Li tilted his head and thought for a moment, "It's not just about the story, but more importantly," he said in a deeper voice, "it's about having a good beginning and a good ending."
Jiang Xu reached out and turned off the lights, plunging the room into darkness. He spoke in the darkness, "Gu Li, if you're uneasy, you can be more direct. Given our relationship, there's no need to test the waters, is there?"
His tone was unreadable, and Gu Li couldn't see Jiang Xu's expression in the darkness. He panicked for a moment, then felt his wrist being grabbed. "Hmm?"
Jiang Xu gently stroked Gu Li's wrist reassuringly, "Of course it will end well." This was an even more straightforward form of comfort.
Gu Li's panic subsided. He closed his eyes tightly, his emotions churning and then fading away. "Okay," he opened his eyes, his gaze clear and a faint smile slowly appearing. "Given our relationship, there's really no need for that."
Jiang Xu asked casually, "What's our relationship?"
Gu Li tightened his grip, raising an eyebrow slightly. "Is this a rhetorical question you already know the answer to, or are you planning to renege on your promise?" He rolled over, pinning Jiang Xu down on one side. "Tell me your answer."
Jiang Xu felt the weight on his body and instead his hands encircled the other person. "I am," he paused and then spoke again, "I want to hear you tell me more."
Gu Li paused, thinking that Jiang Xu was now showing what it meant to be straightforward, and he had learned it.
By now, he had slightly adjusted to the darkness. Gu Li lowered his head and whispered in Jiang Xu's ear, "We're bound together," he said with a smile in his voice, "You're my boyfriend, my partner, my darling, my baby," each word more seductive than the last. "What do you think, Brother Xu?"
Jiang Xu was practically numb from listening, feeling both swooning and nauseated by the sweet talk, especially the last form of address. He'd heard it quite a few times before, but he still couldn't escape the feeling of being completely overwhelmed, drowning in it and suffocating. After exhaling, he replied, "Could you repeat what I said?"
Gu Li, "Huh?" He felt like he hadn't heard clearly. Had the darkness given Jiang Xu some kind of buff?
Jiang Xu tightened his grip on the person's waist, flipping them off him so they were facing each other. "Hmm?" he asked, mimicking Gu Li's expression of confusion.
Gu Li cupped Jiang Xu's face in his hands. "Pretending to be stupid?" He thought it felt nice and pressed down on it again.
Jiang Xu: "Who do you think is pretending to be stupid?"
Gu Li tapped Jiang Xu's cheek with her index finger and then said, "This one."
Jiang Xu tapped Gu Li's waist with his hand, "Why isn't it this one?"
Gu Li withdrew her hand and closed her eyes. "Because this person is asleep, she doesn't know anything."
Jiang Xu closed his eyes as well, and the two of them, close together, embraced and fell asleep.
Time seems to fly by when someone accompanies you to school; sunrise and sunset seem to pass in the blink of an eye, yet the journey is both fast and incredibly fulfilling.
They woke up together in the morning and went out together.
Gu Li would prop his head up and watch the trees outside the classroom being blown by the wind, observing the leaves displaying a free and unrestrained appearance. Then he would turn his head to look at Jiang Xu, who was sitting and listening to the lecture, and he felt that this also represented a form of freedom.
Jiang Xu twirled a pen between his fingers. It was the same pen he had handed to Gu Li at the beginning, which seemed to tell the story of how they met. He noticed Gu Li's gaze and looked back at her, a smile naturally curving his lips.
They were already acquainted.
As the sun set, they walked home together, stepping into his house, or his home, wherever they were, they were always together.
With someone to accompany you for every meal, everything you eat becomes fresh and interesting. Their conversations can range from all over the world to revolve around the same topic.
Every day was new and exciting, something they both looked forward to, yet every day also passed by in the same brisk way, and the weekend arrived in a blur.
Jiang Xu thought that although it was still a week, this week was so different from the last week. When he woke up in the morning, he even felt that it was already Saturday.
He glanced at Gu Li, who was still sleeping soundly beside him, and lifted the blanket to get up. But the hand on his waist made him pause. He gently put Gu Li's hand down and covered him with the blanket again.
Jiang Xu looked at Gu Li, who was still sleeping soundly and had not been woken up by his movements, and got up to go to the outer room to tidy up.
When Gu Li woke up, no one was in bed. He was hugging a pure white pillow, and he gently punched it, muttering to himself, "Why did I get up so early?"
Then he buried his face in Jiang Xu's pillow, and stayed there for five seconds before lifting his head, sitting up, and rubbing his hair to wake himself up. Just then, the phone on the bedside table rang.
Gu Li reached for his phone and was about to drop it and go find Jiang Xu when he saw the name Chen Heng. He was about to think it was spam when he saw a text message from an unknown number.
He paused, quickly unlocked his phone, and looked at the text message that had been sent to him.
The text message read: "Chen Heng's last possession is in my hands. Do you want it?" - His dear younger brother.
Gu Li's expression darkened. Few people knew about the relationship between Shen Heng and Gu Li, and only that scumbag could speak in such a sarcastic tone.
His eyes grew increasingly cold. Zhao Jing!
Gu Li gripped her phone tightly, her knuckles turning slightly white.
