Gentle, rational, and inwardly strong gong (Jiang Xu) vs. genius, madman, emotionally stunted shou (Gu Li).
Jiang Xu was reborn, and coincidentally, the person he was reborn as was also named...
The next moment, Gu Li coldly curled her lips. It was a bit ridiculous that he thought she would pay attention to him with just one sentence.
Then another text message came: He recorded a USB drive for you, full of disgusting and sarcastic remarks, do you want it?
Gu Li frowned. He could already picture Zhao Jing's smug expression. He didn't mind helping him out if he was asking for a beating.
As for the USB drive, Gu Li really had to get it back. After all, Gu Li's expression suddenly darkened, and he didn't leave anything behind.
Then another text message came: "You're not too scared to come, are you? You dare to cause so much trouble, but you don't even dare to come here to pick up your own brother's things?"
Gu Li stared blankly at the message. He had long been puzzled as to what his simple-minded brother liked about this thing. Now he wondered if it was because he liked his talkative nature.
This provocation is truly speechless. He hadn't used this tactic in ages. But then he suddenly realized something was wrong. It hadn't been that long. He had actually used this childish tactic on Jiang Xu.
However, I am myself, while he is a fool.
Gu Li tapped her phone with her fingertip and sent only two words: address.
The reply came quickly: "See you at 10 a.m. tomorrow on Long'an Avenue. If you're late, the items will be gone."
Gu Li twirled her fingertips at the last few words, not even considering replying. She was about to put the phone down and go find Jiang Xu when the phone rang again.
This time it was the phone ringing. Gu Li glanced at it irritably, and the familiar phone number made him even more annoyed. He simply pressed the hang-up button.
Unfamiliar faces are annoying, and even familiar faces are annoying to look at. One or two of them will disturb you and your partner when you're having fun. Don't they have partners?
Gu Li thought about it, and a wicked smile appeared on her lips. They really didn't.
The phone rang again immediately after he had just hung up. The person on the other end clearly didn't intend to call at another time. Gu Li didn't want to waste any more time, so he pressed the answer button as soon as the phone rang.
The phone was placed to his ear, and Gu Liping said calmly, "Get to the point."
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone before a male voice answered, "Having fun?"
If anyone else had asked this question, Gu Li would have answered with obvious delight. But since it was his father, who always wore a cold expression, who asked it, Gu Li felt that he had ulterior motives. "That's a really creepy question," he commented coldly, then suddenly burst out laughing. "I'm absolutely thrilled."
Gu Feng frowned upon hearing Gu Li's extreme change. "Didn't you take your medicine?"
Gu Li ignored his question, his laughter still unrestrained, as did his words. He jokingly said to the person on the other end of the phone, "You'd better remember to eat."
Gu Li's words were naturally not about concern, but Gu Feng heard them clearly. He replied, "Thank you for your concern. It's kind of you to remember these things."
Neither of them intended to make the other comfortable. Gu Li retorted sarcastically, "Can't even tell if someone cares or not? Do your employees know how senile you've become?"
Before Gu Feng could speak, Gu Li continued, "Of course, that's not the point. The point is, what exactly is your business?"
Gu Feng asked, "Isn't it time for you to call me Dad?" He didn't ask for an answer but instead said, "Come back tomorrow."
Gu Li replied quickly, "No."
Gu Feng continued in his unchanged voice, "Do you think it was easy to escape this time?" A blatant hint.
Gu Li tilted his head. Did this mean he was going easy on him? "You want to hear a thank you, right? Okay," he said in a pleasant tone, then smiled and added, "I'm not going to say it."
He looked down at his hands. One of his fingernails had a chip, which looked particularly out of place and unpleasant compared to the others. Gu Li rubbed it with his fingertip, and it was still unsettling to look at.
The voice on the other end of the phone rang out again, "We just need you to come back, and then we can talk about some things."
Gu Li pondered, "Well, I think I have some things to take care of."
Gu Feng knew he needed to offer some benefits when he heard the word "seems," otherwise he wouldn't bring this person back. "Just say it."
Gu Li thought for a moment and then said, "Don't meddle in my private life."
These words were meant to tell Gu Feng to stop interfering in his and Jiang Xu's affairs. Gu Feng tapped the armrest with his fingertips, slowly, one tap after another, "Do you think this is equivalent? How did I teach you, Gu Li?"
Gu Li spoke calmly, "Someone always has to suffer a loss. Suffering a loss is a blessing, and I've given you that blessing. Isn't that wonderful?"
Just then, Jiang Xu opened the door, paused when he saw Gu Li sitting on the bed making a phone call, then raised his hand to signal to close the door and leave, while Gu Li waved to Jiang Xu to have someone come over.
Seeing Jiang Xu standing at the door without moving, Gu Li became even more eager, her desire for Jiang Xu to come over was almost overflowing.
Gu Feng sighed in dismay at the sight of this action.
After Gu Feng finished speaking, he noticed there was no response for a long time on the other end of the phone. He took the phone off the phone and glanced at it, almost wondering if Gu Li had hung up, but they were still on the call. He put the phone back to his ear, "Gu Li," still no response, "Gu Li, are you listening?"
Gu Li only turned her attention back to the person on the other end of the phone when she saw Jiang Xu walking over. "It's because you were speaking too slowly."
Gu Feng, “…” Is she blaming him now? But he decided not to argue with Gu Li over such a small matter, and he said again, “You can make a request, but not that one. Change it.”
"This is really a dilemma," Gu Li said, her tone troubled and hesitant before speaking. "Get rid of the people monitoring me. They keep showing up in front of me every day. I'm about to lose my temper and take action." Despite what should have been annoying, Gu Li's tone was full of laughter.
Gu Feng sensed that Gu Li was acting strangely, but he didn't realize that Gu Li's laughter was for something else; he was playing a finger-counting game with Jiang Xu.
He considered Gu Li's request. It wasn't actually a big deal; during the time he'd been monitoring Gu Li's movements, her behavior hadn't been excessive. But if he ignored it...
Gu Feng's words of refusal lingered on his lips; he was still pondering them.
Gu Li knew what Gu Feng was struggling with. His first demand was an exorbitant price, and it would be a miracle if Gu Feng agreed to it. But the second demand was right on the line, so it was naturally easier to accept compared to the first.
He didn't care about Gu Feng's dilemma. He turned on the speakerphone and tossed the phone aside. He then hooked Jiang Xu's fingertip and asked, "What did you go to do?" He lowered his voice slightly.
Jiang Xu replied in a low voice, "I did some exercise, but why did you sleep for so long again?"
Gu Li said, “It’s all your fault,” she seemed to be complaining, but there was no real resentment in her voice. It was more like she was joking. “I was too tired to get up.”
