Gentle, rational, and inwardly strong gong (Jiang Xu) vs. genius, madman, emotionally stunted shou (Gu Li).
Jiang Xu was reborn, and coincidentally, the person he was reborn as was also named...
Jiang Xu didn't intend to hide it from anyone, and was just waiting to finish dealing with everything before telling Gu Li. Now it was almost over. "Of course he's in big trouble. That's how karma works," he summarized and then said again, "He was already under investigation for a crime, and then he deliberately dragged you into the river. One thing after another, he'll suffer enough."
Gu Li: "He deserves it."
“Yes,” Jiang Xu responded, “He has told you everything. Your father has detained him for the time being, which is probably a good pawn in dealing with the Zhao family. After that, he will be handed over to the relevant departments and sentenced according to the law. Of course, he will not be given a light sentence.”
Gu Li looked at the smile on Jiang Xu's lips, a smile full of scheming and calculation. It should have made Jiang Xu seem a bit mean, but Gu Li just found it incredibly cute. He kissed the corner of Jiang Xu's lips directly, "You're really amazing. I'm starting to admire you."
Jiang Xu felt Gu Li licking the corner of his lips; that small patch of skin was warm and moist. He tilted his head slightly, and Gu Li's lips and tongue met Jiang Xu's directly.
Gu Li paused for a moment, then chuckled softly. They separated quite quickly, and he spoke as soon as they were a little distance apart, "So you won't say there's someone there now?" he teased softly.
Their distance returned to normal, and Jiang Xu remained as gentle and refined as ever. "It doesn't matter whether he sees it or not. He can't see it, and even if he did, he wouldn't be able to see it."
Gu Li couldn't help but chuckle. "So you've learned it." He asked again, "What's with the USB drive? It couldn't have been salvaged, could it?"
Jiang Xu: "No, that guy was holding it tightly."
Gu Li, "Hmm?"
Jiang Xu thought for a moment and then said again, "Here's a video of his interrogation. Would you like to take a look?"
"Look," Gu Li replied decisively.
The video played, and Jiang Xu reached out and adjusted the progress bar to a near-perfect position, saying, "Don't be scared."
Gu Li stared at the screen. "This is nothing compared to a horror movie."
Zhao Jing sat on the iron bench, wearing an empty hospital gown. His glasses, perched on his nose, kept slipping down. His hair was messy, and he looked much more haggard.
They no longer resemble the social elites they once were.
The blinding white light shone directly on him, making the whole environment feel tense and claustrophobic.
A person dressed in white sat opposite him and spoke first, "Why did you do this?"
Zhao Jing repeated absentmindedly, "Why? Why?" He seemed completely lost. "I don't know what 'why' means? There's no 'why'?"
The person on the other end was more direct, "Why did you invite Gu Li? Why did you bring people to jump down?"
Zhao Jing touched his neck, scratching it uncontrollably. "Damn it! Why am I not dead? Is he not dead either? Why?!"
The question rang out again, "What's on the USB drive? Why are you holding onto it so tightly?"
Zhao Jing had several bright red scratch marks on his neck, but he was probably exhausted from being rescued and there was no real injury. He seemed not to have heard the question and his eyes remained vacant, as if they were not looking at anything.
It took him a while to react. He looked into the void and smiled. "Those are his things," he said, as if sighing. His expression then turned strangely infatuated, before turning gloomy in an instant. "Is the thing in his hands now? Give it back to me."
His expression cleared up, as if he were willing to talk to people.
The man in white replied, "That's none of your business. You need to talk about what you did wrong."
Zhao Jing pushed up his glasses and sat up straight. "I don't know what you're talking about. What did I do wrong? I was just chatting with a friend when we both accidentally fell into the water. Don't try to pull conspiracy theories about everything."
The man in white paused in his writing, glanced up at Zhao Jing, then lowered his head again to continue writing while asking, "There's plenty of evidence. Confessing will give you more leeway."
Zhao Jing, “Ha, room for maneuver? What room for maneuver?” His voice rose again, almost to the point of cracking.
Gu Li frowned and pressed the pause button. "Did he damage his brain? Why are his symptoms coming in waves? Or is he acting?"
Jiang Xu said, "He's really smart. The examination showed nothing wrong; it's just a psychological issue. His approach is indeed strange, but whether he acts or not doesn't matter now. Your father will bring him to his senses."
"That's true." Gu Li agreed and pressed play again.
Zhao Jing's shouting didn't stop, "It's all his fault! He's the one who caused all this! Who does he think he is?!"
The man in white pushed three photos in front of Zhao Jing, the photos upside down. The unknown aroused both anticipation and panic.
Just as Zhao Jing was about to flip the photos over, the man in white flipped to the leftmost one without hesitation, and Zhao Jing froze completely.
The photo shows him with a sinister smile, pulling Gu Li into the air; everything is clear.
Zhao Jing paused for a moment, then burst out laughing, "What is this?"
"Evidence." The two words settled the matter firmly.
Zhao Jing nonchalantly pushed it away a bit. "It's just a misaligned shot. Even if it gets approved, what does it prove? Is this what you call evidence?"
"There are various angles available, and there are also videos. Would you like to see them?"
“How could that be?” Zhao Jing’s voice trembled with laughter. “There simply couldn’t be any video footage on that spot!”
The man in white maintained a calm tone, stating the facts in a matter-of-fact manner: "The dashcam footage will tell the whole story."
Zhao Jing pushed the photo to the ground, saying, "It's nothing, nothing at all, just a damn little thing."
When the second photo was revealed, Zhao Jing snatched it away, held it close, and examined it closely, his fingertips lightly tracing the image. He then touched his neck, searching for the chain as if feeling no pain. "Where's the chain? Where's that chain?"
He was referring to the chain that held the USB drive. He had taken the chain off and was still hanging it around his neck. He didn't know why he was so determined to find that chain.
The photo showed a USB flash drive, a tiny USB flash drive in the palm of one's hand. Zhao Jing's eyes were glued to the photo, and his hands could only search haphazardly.
The person on the other side said mercilessly, "There was no chain; it was washed away by the river a long time ago."
"How could that be?" Zhao Jing's hand fell to his side. "Those are his things too! Are you lying to me? You're all trying to lie to me, you're all trying to harm me!"
The man in white said nonchalantly, "These don't belong to you; they belong to Gu Li."
These words completely enraged Zhao Jing. The photos in his hand seemed to slip from his grasp, and another one fell to the ground. "Who does he think he is? Who does he think he is!"
Zhao Jing slammed his hand on the table, and the last photo was flipped over shakily, its bright red color dazzling and blinding.
Gu Li's wrist trembled, and he almost dropped his phone. Jiang Xu grabbed his wrist, pausing the phone and covering the screen with his hand in one smooth motion.
He looked at Gu Li with concern, "Can I tell you the rest?"
Gu Li calmed down, his slight trembling subsided, and he looked at Jiang Xu, his eyes slightly reddening, but his tone was exceptionally firm, "No need."
The person in the photo is Chen Heng.
