Cui Yulu, known as the jinx of Cui Family Village, is about to get married. Under the guise of doing what's best for her, her aunt accepts eight taels of silver from the Han family in the neigh...
The man seemed to have not eaten for a long time. When he saw the steamed bun, he grabbed it and swallowed it along with the blood on his hands.
Seeing this, Cui Yulu felt a pang of sadness. When she noticed he was choking, she secretly took out some more spiritual spring water for him.
"Thank you, thank you."
He didn't refuse and just took it and drank it down.
Are you afraid I'll drug you?
Cui Yulu noticed that the style of the remaining clothes on him was different from theirs, and guessed that he must be from a foreign land.
The man simply handed her the water bottle and snorted, "Don't be afraid. Death is not scary. Warriors are never afraid of death."
Seeing his fearless expression, Cui Yulu could only laugh it off.
"It's good to be alive. You can do so many things while you're alive. You don't look that old, so you must want to be alive."
The man's eyes were like a tiger's; when he looked directly at you, it was very intimidating, and you could tell at a glance that he was a person of great power.
"Don't look at me like that. I'm just a small-time doctor. I think the happiest thing is to be alive and earn money."
Tuoba Xuan looked at the young woman in front of him, whose eyes lit up when she mentioned money; she was quite adorable.
"Save me, and I'll give you silver."
Cui Yulu looked up at him warily: "Did you poison Fu Xiaoyu?"
The poison Fu Xiaoyu was given was not a local poison; it was probably from their foreign land.
Who knew the man would scoff and say, "A real man never does anything underhanded. Revenge should be done honorably. I was caught because I was not skilled enough. I admit defeat, but I never do anything against my conscience."
Cui Yulu pursed her lips, looking at his pair of bright tiger eyes, his chiseled profile, and the righteous aura emanating from his entire body, and she believed that he was not the kind of person who would stab someone in the back.
"What's your name? If I save you, where will I find the money to pay you back?"
"Tuoba Xuan, take the jade pendant from my waist. You can use it to find me in the future."
Cui Yulu looked at her clothes soaked in blood, and the jade pendant at her waist was also stained with his blood.
Without any hesitation, she pulled off the jade pendant from his waist: "Consider this my payment for your treatment, but you'd better figure out how to escape yourself."
After she finished speaking, she prepared to leave the room, but before she had taken two steps, she felt the floor tiles under her feet loosen, and suddenly she heard two whooshing sounds in her ears.
"You've stepped on a trap, hurry up and squat down."
A hole appeared in the opposite wall, and many arrows shot out from it.
Tuoba Xuan knew this woman would definitely trigger the mechanism; she was truly foolish.
An arrow shot straight towards Cui Yulu's brow. Despite the excruciating pain, Tuoba Xuan broke free of the two iron chains and pounced on Cui Yulu to shield her with his body.
"What an idiot."
Cui Yulu blushed: "How was I supposed to know there would be so many traps here? I was just walking normally."
She then remembered that when he dragged her in, she had deftly dodged some of the floor tiles, so it seemed that this man was indeed not simple.
She was starting to regret saving this person.
But killing him now should be quite easy.
She saw that Tuoba Xuan still had half an iron chain hanging from his body, and the smell of blood filled the entire room.
Cui Yulu felt a little soft-hearted; after all, he had saved her once, and it wouldn't be right for her to kill him.
"Doesn't it hurt?"
What do you think?
The arrows inside the trap were finally all fired, but still no one came. It seems that Fu Xiaoyu believed his trapping skills could trap anyone.
Lin Yun arrived at the outer courtyard with an anxious expression, only to see Fu Yunying circling around Han Yu'an like a fighting rooster, her neck bulging.
There's no trace of Cui Yulu at all.
"Where is Miss Rain Dew? Young Master needs her now."
"What? That girl already went in, how come she's not inside yet? She's probably already dead."
Fu Yunying's words were like a wake-up call. Lin Yun suddenly felt a chill. Could it be that she was the one who triggered the mechanism signal just now? If so, wouldn't she be in grave danger now?
Upon hearing this, Han Yu'an, though unsure of what secrets the house held, felt compelled to investigate for Cui Yulu's safety.
"Steward Lin, take me to find my wife now, quickly."
Lin Yun didn't dare to delay for a moment and quickly led Han Yu'an to the inner courtyard.
"Hmph, it's no use. It's easy to get into that mechanism, but it's not easy to get out. Judging by the time, that girl is probably already dead."
Han Yu'an ignored her and walked past her into the inner courtyard with Lin Yun.
"Hmph, you idiot, I'm not going to tell you all this for nothing."
Tuoba Xuan's face was pale due to excessive blood loss, but his eyes were still as bright as a tiger's.
Are you thinking of taking this opportunity to kill me?
Oh no, he figured it out.
Cui Yulu smiled and took out some hemostatic medicine to apply to his wound, and then gave him some spiritual spring water to help him recover his strength.
"That's all I can do. There are traps everywhere here. You'll have to figure it out yourself."
Tuoba Xuan looked at her weakly, a mocking smile tugging at the corner of his mouth: "Do you think you can get out by yourself?"
No, Cui Yulu never doubted that.
I should have realized earlier that since there are important people being held here without any guards, there must be some kind of powerful traps, making it easy to get in but difficult to get out.
"I can take you out, but you can't betray me and let them come and get me again."
Cui Yulu looked at him and nodded: "That's the only way. If we delay any longer, Fu Xiaoyu's life will probably be in danger."
