Wang Wei and Li Deren looked helplessly at their usually calm and rational commander, who was now unshaven, with bloodshot eyes, and had lost dozens of pounds in a short period of time. He was not eating or sleeping, and was searching for Comrade Hummingbird day and night.

They all sensed the unusual nature of the relationship between the two, but neither dared to ask a question. They simply stayed by his side, helping him search for the person and occasionally offering a word of comfort.

Wang Wei whispered, "Hey! What's the relationship between our regimental commander and Comrade Hummingbird? I never realized they knew each other before!"

Li Deren said, "I don't know! It's hard to say."

Wang Wei asked, "You tell me, nine days have passed, is the hummingbird really alive?"

Li Deren rolled his eyes at him and asked, "Didn't you say you had a feeling the hummingbird would be alright? Why are you asking me about it now?"

Wang Wei said, "That's not necessarily accurate! Wasn't that just something to comfort the commander? Look at how he's been these past few days, like he's about to die at any moment. Can I say anything else? He forces himself to drink only a small amount of water and eat only a few bites of food each day, and he's lost so much weight, it's frightening to see. It was pitch black outside, and you couldn't see anything except for the occasional dull thud, which indicated that soil was sliding down again.

An Moxue wondered what the fastest and safest way to get out was.

That day, the underground river grew wider and the current became more rapid. An Moxue took out a detector and found that there was a river more than a thousand meters away.

An Moxue took in her surroundings and realized she was actually in a river. The river wasn't wide, but it was deep and fast-flowing. She could only try to swim towards the shore, but after several failed attempts, she could only drift with the current and wait for it to slow down before trying to find a solution.

After traveling a long distance, the current slowed down, but the river widened. An Moxue put away the lifebuoy and swam with all her might towards the shore.

Suddenly, she heard someone scream excitedly: "Commander, look, isn't there a person over there? Could it be a hummingbird?"

The sound drifted on the wind, intermittent, but An Moxue vaguely recognized it as Wang Wei's voice.

"Splash!" A sound of water falling into the water rang out.

Wu Sicheng swam quickly toward An Moxue, and An Moxue also swam toward Wu Sicheng.

Both of them were rushing towards each other. Having survived the ordeal, seeing the long-lost person again, Wu Sicheng felt a sense of unreality, as if he had been through another world.

When he swam to a spot not far from An Moxue and saw her face clearly, he smiled and swam toward her at an unprecedented speed.

When he reached her, he just stared at her and smiled, then gently and quickly placed a kiss on her forehead before dragging An Moxue towards the shore.
