Chapter 103 The Promise of Soaring to the Sky

Luna, dazed and confused, carried the surgical instruments and followed the group toward the surgical tent.

The tent where Su Wan was located was only a few hundred meters away from the operating tent.

He dared not tell Su Wan what had happened in front of the murderers. If he did, they might kill him on the spot when they realized their plot had been exposed.

If he didn't speak up, he would save his own life. But if Su Wan entered the tent, she would be falsely accused of murdering the king and would certainly face death.

Either he dies, or Su Wan dies.

He didn't want to die, nor did he want Su Wan to die. But for a moment, he didn't know how to solve the problem at hand.

He followed behind, glancing several times at the soldiers flanking Su Wan. These two soldiers were "protecting" Su Wan closely, never leaving her side.

It was impossible for him to get close to Su Wan and whisper something. He didn't even have paper or pen to pass messages.

The surgical tent is getting closer.

Before he knew it, he was drenched in sweat again, and a cold wind blew, making his back feel icy. The surgical tent in the distance seemed to have transformed into a hungry tiger, its jaws wide open, waiting for Su Wan to enter.

Lupin's men were tasked with ensuring Su Wan entered the operating tent, thus framing her as the assassin of the king.

Su Wan, however, was unaware of this and continued walking while looking at the paper covered in writing in her hand.

The moment the team stopped in front of the operating tent, Luna knew it was hopeless.

Not long ago, he overheard his brother assassinating the king, and now he is about to witness Su Wan walk into a trap. Meanwhile, the real murderer, Lu Bang, remains uninvolved and may even become the new king of Xirong.

And he had nothing.

How can the murderer get everything?

Somehow, a surge of anger suddenly filled his chest, pushing out the fear, and then he thought of a solution.

He pretended to trip over the stone and threw the tray he was holding away.

The surgical instruments on the tray spilled onto the floor with a clatter.

Su Wan was about to enter the tent when she heard a noise behind her. She turned around and saw Luna, and couldn't help but slap her forehead.

Surprisingly, the most reliable person was the one who got into trouble.

All four sets of surgical instruments had been sterilized; she hadn't prepared any extras. The set that Luna took was the one that would be used at the very beginning of the surgery, and he had specifically asked the most reliable person, Luna, to carry it.

Now look what's happened, everything's fallen on the ground and is completely unusable.

Luna knelt on the ground, hurriedly picking up the surgical instruments scattered all over the place, saying repeatedly, "Goddess, it's all my fault, I tripped over a stone."

Su Wan shook her head and said to the guards, "There's no other way. You go in and tell the King that I need to go back and prepare another set."

After saying that, she walked towards her tent on her own.

The two soldiers hadn't expected this turn of events and couldn't stop Su Wan from returning. One of them said, "Then we'll escort the goddess back."

"Okay, let's hurry." Su Wan said as she walked quickly.

Seeing the two soldiers chasing after Su Wan, Luna quickly got up, wanting to follow them as well.

Before he could even lift his foot, a cold voice rang out from the darkness of the surgical tent.

"Little brother, you were really careless."

Upon recognizing his brother Lupin's voice, Luna nearly jumped out of his chest. He involuntarily took two steps back, looked at Lupin emerging from the darkness, and laughed, "I... I couldn't see where I was going."

Lupin smiled, walked up to him, and pulled his wrist: "Come on, let's talk over here."

Although Luna was also tall and strong, he couldn't struggle at all because Lupin held his wrist, so he had no choice but to follow Lupin to a secluded place.

Lupin released his wrist and stared at him.

Luna smiled at Lupin, her gaze wandering, avoiding his eye contact.

"You tripped just now, didn't you?" Lupin asked.

"No, how could that be!" Luna laughed, but sounded weak and powerless. "I was just too nervous."

"Why did he have to break it so early or late, just as that girl was about to go in? It's such a timely and dramatic moment." Lupin rubbed his fingers against the sword at his waist, seemingly making a casual joke.

"Things always happen by chance," Luna said with a forced smile, raising her hand to wipe the sweat from her forehead.

"Those footprints behind the king's tent, were they also just a coincidence that you made them?"

Luna's body went limp, and he collapsed to the ground, looking up at Lupin: "You...you knew everything?"

“At first I didn’t suspect it was you,” Lupin said with a chilling smile, “but a soldier told me that after you came to see the King, you didn’t go straight back. I started to wonder where you went.”

When Luna realized that Lupin already knew everything, he was terrified and said, "Big brother, I'm your younger brother."

“Of course I know,” Lupin reached out and grabbed his hand, pulling him up. “Otherwise I would have killed you long ago, why would I be wasting my breath talking to you?”

Luna was then somewhat relieved.

Seeing that he was no longer as frightened as before, Lupin laughed and said, "Brother, I know you have some connection with this girl and don't want to see her die. But have you considered that if we don't frame her, the generals will definitely find out that I did it? King regicide is a serious crime. If I die, do you think you can survive?"

Luna thought about it and realized that Lupin's words made sense.

King regicide is indeed an unforgivable crime. But the deed is done, and he is Lupin's brother; if Lupin is to be beheaded, he can't escape it either.

"Big brother, then... what do you suggest we do?" he stammered.

Lu Bang chuckled and patted him on the shoulder: "It's simple. Help me get this done, and don't get in my way. Don't forget, you're not only a Western Rong person, but also my brother. You can't side with your own family. A mere woman from the Great Jin Dynasty isn't worth going against your brother, is that right?"
