Medical doctor Su Wan transmigrated to the Great Jin Dynasty. She initially thought she was in for a typical palace maid/harem drama, but soon she was married off as a bride to bring good luck by h...
Su Wan was extremely hungry.
My stomach rumbled all night.
The steamed buns her younger brother gave her before were so hard they were inedible, and the food the maid brought later was laced with a sleeping potion, so she didn't eat it either.
Seeing the snacks in her hand, her first thought was that she was probably starving and even dreaming about eating them.
But the things in my hands feel so real.
She suddenly opened her eyes, and just as she was about to raise her hand to rub them, she realized that there really was a bag of snacks in her hand.
It's hand-torn bread.
She couldn't believe her eyes. She squeezed the bread hard, and the plastic bag made a rustling sound in her hand. It was definitely not something that existed in this era.
She vaguely remembered that the bread was bought from the supermarket before she traveled through time, and she hadn't had a chance to eat it yet.
So bread traveled through time with her too?
Let's not think about that too much for now. If people can travel through time, what's so strange about bread?
She jumped out of bed, plopped down in a chair, quickly tore open the packaging, and smelled it first.
It smells so good, it tastes so sweet. I've never tasted bread this good before!
She took a big bite of bread. While eating, she wondered how she had brought the bread from that dimension to this one—was it through a dream?
She hurriedly swallowed the bread in a few bites, then lay back down on the bed. After groping around several times, she finally figured out the principle.
Just like using her consciousness to retrieve objects from a distance, her consciousness could connect with her apartment and pharmacy, allowing her to bring things from there to use here, and also send things from here to her apartment or pharmacy.
The only downside is that her consciousness cannot leave the apartment and pharmacy; she can only take items from inside those two places. She cannot be teleported there either.
This unexpected discovery overjoyed her. She took a bottle of mineral water and a bag of bread from the apartment refrigerator, unscrewed the caps, and gulped down several mouthfuls before she felt completely alive again.
Even the strongest body can't withstand being starved for three days.
After eating two bags of bread, she felt full and ready to get down to business.
Thinking of the original owner's dowry, she didn't want to wait a moment longer.
At first, she didn't know what to do with the dowry, but now that she had a usable space, it would be a shame not to make use of this treasure bestowed upon her by God.
She quietly opened the door and saw that only two servants remained, sitting back to back on a bench, dozing off and snoring.
The original owner was pampered and dared not go out alone on such a dark night. The servants knew this about the original owner's personality, and became particularly lax at night.
Su Wan left the house, hiding in the shadows to avoid the night watchmen, and walked through the halls and corridors to the Su family's warehouse.
The warehouse door was only on, not locked. She carefully removed the padlock, opened the warehouse door a crack, and slipped inside.
By the moonlight streaming through the window, she found her cousin Su Yue'e's dowry, or rather, most of it belonged to her.
The boxes were all wrapped in red silk, totaling eighty boxes, almost as much as the dowry of a fourth-rank official's daughter.
She opened each box one by one, and swept everything that belonged to her into her apartment.
She had taken half when she heard faint footsteps coming from outside the warehouse.
She quickly shifted her gaze, then used her mind to put the items back exactly as they were, before hiding in a corner not far away. The warehouse was filled with piles of things, so unless someone specifically searched for her with a torch, they wouldn't see her.
"That's strange, why is the storeroom door open?" A servant carrying a torch entered the storeroom and looked around suspiciously. "Has someone been here?"
"Don't be so paranoid, the boxes are all here, aren't they?" another servant complained. "Young Master Yang must have gone into the storeroom to take something again. Let's go back to sleep early, we have a lot to do tomorrow morning."
"Young Master Yang has a bad habit of secretly taking things from the storeroom to give to the top courtesan at the brothel. Not only does the Second Madam not care, she also forbids us from locking up the storeroom..."
"Don't worry about it. The Second Madam is happy, and it's not our place to interfere. As long as Young Master Yang didn't take Miss's dowry, that's fine. When the Zhao family comes to pick up the bride, if the dowry is missing, the Madam will lose face."
"That's right, let's check again."
The two opened each box and inspected it. Seeing that the calligraphy, paintings, gold, and silver jewelry were all there, they left reassured. They didn't lock the door when they left, knowing that if Yang Yaozu came back for more things, he would surely be furious if he saw it locked.
After the two left, Su Wan slipped out from the corner, patted her chest, and muttered to herself, "That was close."
She swept all her dowry items back into the apartment, including not only her own but also Su Yue'e's.
At first, she only wanted to take what belonged to her, but later she thought that Su Heng and his wife not only mistreated her and her brother, but also changed her marriage, so she felt at ease taking everything.
After sweeping everything away, she went outside the warehouse and moved the stones piled up under the nearby artificial hill into a box. She closed the box, wrapped it with red silk, and quietly left.
These dowry items belonged to the original owner of the body. Although she had transmigrated into the original owner's body, she did not intend to use them. She would hand them over to Su Yuze when he grew up.
Back in her room, she felt utterly exhausted. She kicked off her shoes, collapsed onto the bed, and fell asleep in the blink of an eye.
A crimson sun slowly climbed up the horizon and moved upwards.
The Su family began to get busy.
Granny Cui led a group of people to the door to welcome the bride.
