Chapter 78 Ah Wan, are you trying to murder your husband?

The stars twinkle and the bright moon hangs high.

After washing up, Su Wan, her long, black hair still damp with water, took a towel from the apartment to wipe her face and walked out of the bathroom in slippers.

In an attempt to get Wei Jingzhuo to sleep, she deliberately lingered in the bathroom for half a day, but in the end, it seemed she still couldn't outlast Wei Jingzhuo's patience.

Wei Jingzhuo did not fall asleep, but leaned against the bedside reading a book. Hearing her movement, he looked up.

Having regained her female identity, Su Wan possessed an exquisite beauty, with exquisitely beautiful features. Bathed in candlelight, she looked like a fairy emerging from the clouds.

Immaculate—this was the first word that came to Wei Jingzhuo's mind.

He suddenly felt uneasy.

It felt as if the woman in front of me was from a dream, and that she would disappear as soon as I woke up.

He instinctively tried to get up and grab the person, but as soon as his hands braced against the edge of the table, a sharp pain shot through his chest.

Upon seeing this, Su Wan quickly went to the bedside and supported him: "Your wound has just been bandaged, and it hasn't fully healed yet. If you move around, the wound will reopen. Tell me if anything is wrong..."

Before she could finish speaking, Wei Jingzhuo pulled her into his arms.

Su Wan was startled and was about to get up when he hugged her tightly. A deep voice whispered in her ear, "A-Wan, will you leave me?"

She didn't know why Wei Jingzhuo asked that, but she was afraid that moving around would hurt his wound, so she obediently stayed in his arms without moving.

She could clearly sense the change in Wei Jingzhuo's emotions.

He seemed afraid, afraid of leaving him?

But she quickly dismissed her own thought. He was still a patient, and patients are usually extremely vulnerable.

She reached out and gently wrapped her arms around his lean waist, comforting him in as gentle a voice as possible: "How could I leave you? Don't forget, I am your wife."

After she finished speaking, Wei Jingzhuo helped her up from his arms, placing his hands on her shoulders and gazing at her. His usually cold and handsome face seemed to melt away like ice and snow, his eyes like shattered stars, so deep that Su Wan couldn't look away.

Su Wan was momentarily mesmerized by what she saw.

At such close range, she could hear his breathing, smell his scent, and touch his skin…

In Wei Jingzhuo's eyes, her absent-minded look was both dazed and adorable, making it impossible for him to remain calm.

He reached out and tucked a few stray hairs behind her ear, his voice tender: "A-Wan is my wife, and she will always be my wife."

His words were spoken softly and gently, drifting into her ears and sending a shiver down her spine.

Seeing Ruyu's handsome face right in front of her, Su Wan's breath caught in her throat, and a flutter rose in her heart.

That was the fluttering feeling of wanting to kiss him passionately.

The room was silent. Neither of them spoke; only their breathing rose and fell.

Su Wan suddenly coughed, awkwardly raised her hand to smooth her hair, pushed Wei Jingzhuo away, got up and walked to the table, picked up the kettle and poured herself a cup of tea: "I'm a little thirsty."

It was already September, and the weather should have been getting cooler at night, but she only felt that the room was very hot.

Wei Jingzhuo glanced at the teacup in her hand but remained silent.

That was something he used himself. He didn't like others touching his things. But when Su Wan used it, a slight smile appeared on his lips.

Su Wan downed her tea in one gulp, inwardly marveling that it was only here in Wei Jingzhuo's vast general's mansion that tea was served. Everyone else was just drinking lukewarm water.

This was the first time she had ever seen such a poor general.

I remember watching period dramas before, and the wealthy families in those shows, even if they weren't incredibly rich, wouldn't have been poor like that, right?

They wouldn't even drink a cup of tea.

Wei Jingzhuo's gaze fell on her moist cherry lips, his eyes darkening slightly: "Awan, I'm a little thirsty too."

Su Wan was already at the table, so she picked up the kettle and poured him a cup of tea from her own cup.

When she handed him the tea, she suddenly realized that she had just used the teacup.

Just as she was about to say that she had already used it and offer him a fresh cup of tea, Wei Jingzhuo was faster and deftly took the teacup from her hand.

Su Wan looked at her empty hands, then glanced at Wei Jingzhuo.

There's no need to rush when drinking water, is there?

Wei Jingzhuo, with his clear and bright eyes, took a sip of tea from the spot where Su Wan had just drunk from.

Su Wan: "..."

She felt a sudden heat on her face, and for some reason, she felt like Wei Jingzhuo was flirting with her.

Just as she was about to run out, Wei Jingzhuo handed her a teacup and said softly, "Awan, please put this teacup on the table for me."

Su Wan had no choice but to turn around, take a deep breath, walk to the bedside, and take the teacup from his hand.

Just as she finished setting down the teacup and turned to ask Wei Jingzhuo if there was anything else he needed, Wei Jingzhuo suddenly grabbed her hands and pulled her onto the bed with a forceful pull.

Su Wan's vision blurred, and she fell onto the bed, landing right between Wei Jingzhuo's legs.

She frantically reached down to brace herself, but the sensation was strange—a mixture of hardness and softness. Just then, she heard a muffled gasp from above.

She tried to climb off his lap, but he rolled over and pulled her onto the bed. With a wave of his hand, the curtains hanging on either side of the bed slowly fell down.

The candlelight in the room shone on the curtains, revealing the shadows of a man and a woman lying intimately, their necks intertwined, exuding an indescribable ambiguity.

Then, the woman's soft moans, like drifting silk threads, slowly emerged from behind the curtains.

Su Wan's head was spinning from the kisses, and she didn't want to move at all. When she felt a chill on her upper body, she was startled and immediately pushed the person on top of her away. She sat up and covered her open clothes with her hands.
