Starting by Selling Lunch Boxes at the Construction Site

Heard the food at construction sites isn't very good?

That's convenient, because I sell lunch boxes right at the entrance of the construction site!

Eight yuan for two meat dishe...

Chapter 184 So much for a so-called "King of Scrolls"—he's nothing special after all.

Why would someone with a two-day weekend be in the office on a Saturday? There's only one possibility: Liu Zhaowen is working overtime. And he's not just working overtime on Saturday; he's been working overtime for a whole week before today.

In the vast office, only Liu Zhaowen's solitary figure remained, accompanied only by the clattering of his keyboard. After slamming down the Enter key to send the email, Liu Zhaowen stretched lazily, his fingers interlaced, and looked at the lower right corner of the computer screen. The time was 7:36 PM.

No wonder I felt so hungry; it was already past dinnertime. I glanced at the computer screen; the email had been delivered three minutes ago, and I hadn't received any new feedback yet. Maybe I should go grab some food first and come back later.

Just as I was about to leave, my phone's notification light lit up; someone had sent me a message. I picked up my phone and saw it was from Liu Tong.

Are you still working overtime at the company?

Just finished and waiting for feedback. Planning to go downstairs for a bite to eat before continuing my hard work.

'So you've completely forgotten about tonight! (Angry)'

What's going on tonight? What else is going on tonight? The main task tonight is to keep working overtime and fight to the bitter end with the client, determined to finish this project today and say goodbye to the client, right?

"Xu's Fast Food Restaurant's braised food tasting event is tonight at 9 PM, and it's almost 8 PM now. If you don't go, I'll call someone else; a whole bunch of people in the group are clamoring to go."

Upon hearing Liu Tong's words, Liu Zhaowen finally remembered the free braised food feast he had been longing for! He had heard that there would be twenty-seven different dishes, each with four different flavors, totaling one hundred and eight braised dishes. How could he miss such a feast!

"Of course I'll go! See you at Xu's Fast Food Restaurant."

After replying to Liu Tong, Liu Zhaowen looked at the computer screen again, but there were still no new messages.

Work is never-ending, and today is Saturday! A day off! Working overtime until 7 or 8 pm is already being very accommodating to the client. It's time to get back to life.

So what if I have to work overtime tomorrow, Sunday?

After calming himself down, Liu Zhaowen decisively closed all files on his computer and pressed the power button. He breathed a sigh of relief as the screen went black. Grabbing his phone, he pushed his chair back to his workstation, turned off the lights, closed the door, clocked out, and left work in one fluid motion.

Just as Liu Zhaowen was putting two yuan into the bus coin box, his usually silent phone suddenly vibrated. His hand, holding two one-yuan bills, hovered above the coin box for two seconds before decisively releasing them. The bills passed smoothly through the slot, traversing a deserted area to reunite with their brethren.

Perhaps because it was Saturday, there weren't many passengers on the bus. Liu Zhaowen was able to enjoy sitting by the window, resting his chin on his hand, watching the trees, streetlights, buildings, and pedestrians disappear quickly outside.

As the bus doors opened and closed repeatedly, more and more passengers boarded. When the doors opened again, three young men boarded and went straight to the empty seats in front of Liu Zhaowen, one of them sitting next to him.

"Are we crazy? We actually took three buses just to go to a fast food restaurant for some braised food." As soon as the three of them sat down, one of them joked.

"That's right. If this event wasn't held on Saturday night, I probably wouldn't have come. It's too far."

"Yeah, I wonder when this fast food restaurant will open in our area."

"There's an event at the store tonight, the boss should be there, we can give him some feedback."

The conversation caught Liu Zhaowen's attention. Through the reflection in the glass window, he took in their figures. The three looked to be around his age, but their faces showed no signs of hardship. Judging from their clothing and manner of travel, they weren't from wealthy families; they were most likely juniors or seniors at some university.

Sure enough, the conversation eventually turned to their summer vacation. Some went back to their hometowns to catch birds in the mountains and fish in the river, while others stayed home playing video games all summer.

They were talking animatedly, and Liu Zhaowen listened intently, reminiscing about his own youthful days in college, completely unaware that his phone, which was tucked in his pocket, was vibrating repeatedly.

"The next stop is Zijing Road Station. Passengers who need to get off, please prepare in advance."

The bus announcement sounded, and the keyword "Zijing Road" was picked up in his brain—we'd arrived. Liu Zhaowen stood up from his seat and suddenly noticed that almost everyone on the bus had stood up at the same time, as if preparing to get off. Liu Zhaowen's eyes met those of several people, and they all smiled in unison, as if to say—"Oh, so you're here for the braised food tasting event too!"

As Liu Zhaowen walked out of his seat, knowing the traffic was bad at night since he had been here before, he instinctively reached for his phone to turn on the flashlight. But when he looked up, he saw a neon sign standing by the roadside through the bus window. The sign, made of glowing strips, spelled out large characters: "Xu's Fast Food Restaurant Braised Food Tasting Event, please come this way!"

Following the arrows on the sign, the road to Xu's Fast Food Restaurant was filled with directional arrows, and the gaps between the arrows were wrapped with strings of starry lights, making the tiny lights look just like a sky full of stars.
