Protagonist Lin Fan was adopted by the Lin couple since childhood. With his exceptional business acumen, he transformed the heavily indebted Lin Group into a commercial empire.
However, at th...
Lin Yaozu was so excited that he didn't sleep all night.
"Hmph, Lin Fan, just you wait and see, this time I will definitely ruin your reputation!" Lin Yaozu said viciously to his reflection in the mirror, as if Lin Fan were right in front of him.
He tried to calm himself down and then left the room. He didn't go to the company, but went directly to the headquarters building of the Lin Group.
The Lin Group headquarters building is a symbol of the business empire built by Lin Fan.
He skillfully bypassed the receptionist and headed straight for the elevator.
The Lin Group's archives are located on the top floor of the building, where the company's most critical confidential documents are stored, including detailed information on ocean-going projects.
As the elevator slowly ascended, Lin Yaozu's heart pounded. He knew this operation was extremely risky, and the consequences of being discovered would be unimaginable. However, to meet Brother Li's demands and to obtain that enormous reward, he couldn't care less about anything else.
With a "ding," the elevator reached the top floor. Lin Yaozu stepped out of the elevator, looked around to make sure no one was paying attention to him, and then strode towards the archives room.
He walked to the door of the records room and entered the password. This was a password he knew from his previous position at the company, and he hoped Lin Fan hadn't changed it.
"Beep beep beep..." Incorrect password.
Lin Yaozu's heart sank. He knew that Lin Fan had changed the password.
"Damn it, Lin Fan, you really are ruthless!" Lin Yaozu cursed under his breath.
He didn't give up. He knew that although Lin Fan had changed the password, some vulnerabilities in the security system hadn't been completely fixed. He had participated in the design of the security system and was very familiar with some of its flaws.
He went around to the side of the archives and found a hidden ventilation opening. He carefully removed the grille from the opening and then crawled inside.
The ventilation duct was narrow and dark, filled with the smell of dust. Lin Yaozu hunched over, crawling laboriously through the duct. He felt like a rat, barely surviving in a dark corner.
"Bah! Once I get the money, I'm going to enjoy myself to the fullest and never have to live like this again!" Lin Yaozu vowed silently as he crawled.
After a difficult crawl, he finally reached the ventilation shaft of the archives. Through the grille, he saw the interior of the archives: rows of neat filing cabinets, state-of-the-art computers, and all sorts of electronic devices.
"I'm rich! I'm rich!" Lin Yaozu was so excited he almost shouted it out.
He carefully removed the grille from the ventilation vent and jumped into the archives. He didn't turn on the lights, but instead began searching for information on the ocean-going projects by the dim light from the window.
He opened a filing cabinet and quickly flipped through the documents inside. He knew time was of the essence; he had to find his target as soon as possible.
"Found it!" Lin Yaozu's eyes lit up as he saw a folder labeled "Ocean Project".
He eagerly opened the folder and began flipping through its contents. As he looked, he took photos with his phone. He wanted to photograph all the information and then sell it to Brother Li.
"Click, click..." The sound of a mobile phone taking pictures was particularly jarring in the quiet archives room.
Lin Yaozu was completely absorbed in his own world and did not notice that a red indicator light suddenly lit up in the corner of the archives.
"Woo-woo-woo-woo" The piercing alarm suddenly rang out, breaking the tranquility of the archives room.
Lin Yaozu was so frightened that he almost dropped his phone.
"Damn it, how did the alarm go off?" Lin Yaozu cursed in terror.
He knew the alarm had alerted the security guards, and they would be there soon. He had to get out of there as quickly as possible.
He didn't have time to continue taking pictures; he hurriedly stuffed the folder into his arms and then turned and ran.
He ran to the ventilation shaft and tried to climb back up. However, due to tension and panic, he couldn't climb up no matter what he did.
"Hurry up, hurry up!" Lin Yaozu was sweating profusely with anxiety.
"Who goes there?!" Just then, a security guard's voice rang out at the door of the records room.
Lin Yaozu was terrified, knowing he had no way out.
He gritted his teeth and jumped down from the vent. Ignoring the pain, he scrambled towards the door.
"Stop! Don't run!" the security guard shouted as he chased after them.
Lin Yaozu ran as fast as he could, feeling like his heart was about to jump out of his chest.
He ran out of the archives and sprinted down the corridor. He didn't know how long he ran or where he was. All he knew was that he had to escape or he would be caught by the security guards.
"Huff...huff..." He was panting heavily from running.
He saw a stairwell ahead and rushed in without hesitation. He ran down the stairs, hoping to shake off the security guard.
"Bang!" He suddenly bumped into something, lost his balance, and fell to the ground.
"Ouch!" Lin Yaozu cried out in pain.
He struggled to his feet and realized he had bumped into a cleaning vehicle.
Ignoring the pain, he continued running. He ran out of the stairwell and reached the back door of the building.
He saw a narrow alleyway outside the back door and rushed out without hesitation. He ran wildly along the alley until he was sure no one was chasing him, then he stopped.
He leaned against the wall, panting heavily. His legs felt as heavy as lead, and every step was excruciatingly painful.
"Damn it, I almost lost my life!" Lin Yaozu said with lingering fear.
He looked down at himself and found that his suit had several holes in it and he was covered in dust, looking utterly disheveled.
He pulled the folder out of his pocket and found that it was crumpled and torn in some places.
"Thankfully, the data is still there." Lin Yaozu breathed a sigh of relief.
He carefully put the folder away, then limped away from the alley. He knew he was safe for now, but he had to deliver the information to Brother Li as soon as possible, or he would be in even bigger trouble.
However, although Lin Yaozu escaped by sheer luck, his risky actions aroused the vigilance of the Lin Group's senior management.
"What? The archives room was robbed?" The security manager of the Lin Group was shocked when he heard the news.
"Yes, manager, we've reviewed the security footage and found that someone broke into the archives and stole a document," the security captain reported.
"Have you found out who did it?" the security manager asked.
"The investigation is still ongoing, but we have found some clues. This person is very familiar with the company's security system, so he should be an insider," the security captain said.
