Lu Ze looked in the direction of Yu Yao's voice.

Under a starry night sky, the sea rippled gently, and the tide surged onto the beach, adding a touch of blue waves to the intertidal zone as they swayed with the tide.

Yu Yao wasn't sure if it was what she was thinking, but she grabbed Lu Ze's hand and said excitedly, "Lu Ze, let's go take a look."

Lu Ze hummed in agreement and helped Yu Yao walk towards the beach where the blue waves were rolling.

The beach wasn't far from the reef where Yu Yao had been, but it was too dark at night, and Lu Ze was worried about Yu Yao's safety, so the two walked slowly.

Upon getting closer, Yu Yao exclaimed in delight, "Oh my god! It really is blue tears!"

"Blue Tears?" Lu Ze looked at the blue waves in front of him.

Yu Yao excitedly touched the blue tears with her foot. The waves hit her foot and shattered into blue gems, shimmering with blue fluorescence.

Her gaze fell upon the sea, where a faint blue light first appeared, then grew stronger and stronger.

One blue hue after another converged, forming blue waves that vied with each other to spread up to the intertidal zone, like winding, rugged blue fluorescent streaks inlaid on the beach.

It also resembles countless blue elves chasing and playing on the waves, echoing the dazzling Milky Way in the sky.

Absolutely beautiful.

Yu Yao had only ever seen such scenes in short videos shared by travel bloggers before, and had never witnessed them in person. She never expected them to be so breathtaking.

"It's so beautiful!" Yu Yao said, holding Lu Ze's hand. "Legend has it that blue tears are the tears shed by mermaids."

"Mermaids will only fall in love with one person in their lifetime. After losing their lover, they are heartbroken. The azure sea becomes their grave. Every night, they will sit on the rocks, gaze at the bright moon, and weep endlessly."

"Their tears fall into the sea and become blue tears. Legend has it that lovers who have seen blue tears will never be separated, as this is a blessing from the mermaids."

Yu Yao turned to look at Lu Ze beside her and smiled brightly, "Lu Ze, now we've seen the Blue Tears together, we'll definitely be happy."

Lu Ze had learned about this peculiar phenomenon when he studied at the naval academy.

This beach is home to a large number of Noctiluca scintillans and sea fireflies. These two microorganisms contain luciferin and luciferase. When stimulated by external factors such as tides, the luciferin and luciferase in their bodies react chemically with oxygen in the air, thus releasing a phenomenon known as bioluminescence.

The so-called mermaid tears are nothing but nonsense and should not be taken seriously.

The blessings of the mermaids are nothing more than far-fetched assumptions by outsiders, and are feudal superstitions that should not be believed.

Seeing his lover's happy face, the always pragmatic Commander Lu did not spoil the mood. Instead, he gently replied, "With the blessing of the merfolk, we will surely be happy for a long, long time."

Since Ayao likes it, what's wrong with believing in feudal superstition once?

Yu Yao suddenly raised her hands to her mouth, making a megaphone shape, and shouted loudly towards the blue tears that were riding the waves in the distance: "Happy birthday, my dear Commander Lu!"

The blessing echoed across the dark sand, accompanied by the sound of the tide lapping against the shore.

Lu Ze's heart was filled with joy and happiness, thanks to his lover's blessing.

Yu Yao asked Lu Ze, "Are you happy that we're celebrating your birthday today?"

Lu Ze gazed at her intently and passionately, calling her name, "Ayao, I'm so happy!"

Yu Yao would also smile and say, "As long as you're happy, I'm happy too!"

Lu Ze took off his coat and draped it over Yu Yao's shoulders, then put his arm around her. "It's windy at night, be careful not to catch a cold."

Yu Yao leaned against his chest, gazing at the beautiful blue tears in the distance, feeling an unprecedented joy.

The two of them nestled together quietly, without saying a word, listening to the sound of the waves, which was quite nice.

Knowing that Wu Huaiqing and Fang Qiaoqiao's wedding was the next morning, Yu Yao and Lu Ze went back to rest after watching the Blue Tears.

When they got home, Grandpa Lu and Hu Lingyu had already turned off the lights and gone to sleep.

The weather is hot and humid now. After a long day, Yu Yao is covered in sweat. When she gets home, she goes to the bathroom to wash her hair and take a shower.

Lu Ze looked at her protruding belly and was terrified. "I'll go in and help you."

Yu Yao had no objections. When she was heavily pregnant before, Lu Ze wasn't home, and her two mothers took turns helping her.

Lu Ze tested the temperature of the soapberry water in the enamel basin with his hand. "Wash your hair first."

Yu Yao hummed in agreement and walked to a chair nearby, where Lu Ze helped her lie down.

Lu Ze used a gourd ladle to scoop up warm soapberry water and helped her wash her hair.

Her hair used to be too long, so for convenience, she went to the hair salon in the residential compound to cut it into a short bob that reached her ears. This made her look much more capable and dignified, and it was also easier to wash.

The soapberries boiled in the pot, emitting a faint soapberry fragrance.

Lu Ze's fingertips ran through her hair, kneading and massaging her scalp, and Yu Yao comfortably squinted her eyes.

After she finished showering, Lu Ze helped her take another bath.

Although the two had done everything together and even had a child, Yu Yao was still somewhat unaccustomed to being completely honest with each other.

Especially now that she's the only one naked, while Lu Ze is properly dressed in a shirt and military pants.

Lu Ze, his eyes dark, looked at his lover, who was still breathtakingly beautiful even in her late pregnancy. He swallowed hard and said in a hoarse voice, "I'm starting to wash. Tell me if the water temperature isn't right."
