Chapter 19 The Little Dumpling Meets Grandpa! The Mystery of Grandma?

Huo Qin hung up the phone, glanced at Chaochao who was drawing on the coffee table, and then lowered his eyes in thought.

Chaochao was engrossed in drawing, and when she finished, she saw that her father wasn't working, so she excitedly ran over and held up her drawing.

"Dad, look!"

At first glance, the painting appears to depict a family of three shopping.

On the left is Huo Qin, holding Chao Chao's hand, while Chao Chao is holding a small rabbit in her arms.

Huo Qin selectively ignored the eerie smile on his face in the drawing, and instead frowned, pointing to a green stick figure on the right and asking.

Who is this?

Chaochao: "Uncle Lin!"

The little girl looked at her with a slightly disgusted expression, as if to say, "You're so silly."

She thoughtfully pointed out, "Uncle Lin is wearing green today."

Lin Cheng, who was handing in documents in the office, never expected to appear in Chaochao's painting, and was immediately moved to tears.

In his excitement, he even ignored his boss's intimidating presence, stretching his neck like a turtle peering out to admire the masterpiece in which he was appearing.

He also selectively ignored his head-to-toe green attire, even though his carefully chosen suit was clearly dark green.

Lin Cheng squatted down, looking deeply moved, and said, "You drew so well, thank you, Chaochao!"

"No, not at all." Chaochao was a little embarrassed by the compliment, and she sweetly replied, "Uncle Lin looks great today too!"

"You flatter me."

The two began to mutually flatter each other.

Huo Qin felt that the little green figure on the right side of the drawing was particularly offensive.

The Indian branch probably needs a manager.

After Lin Cheng left, Huo Qin asked slowly, "Does Chaochao want to see... Grandpa?"

"Grandpa?" Chaochao's eyes lit up instantly. "Yes!"

Will Grandpa like Chaochao?

All the elderly folks in the courtyard adore Chaochao! I bet Chaochao's own grandfather will love her too.

It doesn't matter whether you like it or not.

Huo Qin thought.

But she says, "No one can dislike you."

...

The next morning, Mr. Huo was already waiting in the living room, frequently walking to the French windows to look out at the door.

"Why haven't they arrived yet?"

The old man muttered to himself.

Knowing that Huo Qin and the young lady were coming today, Aunt Song had already arranged for people to prepare a sumptuous feast. Yesterday, she also ordered people to clean the Huo residence inside and out, leaving it spotless.

Around 10 o'clock, a car drove in from the gate.

Upon seeing this, Old Master Huo quickly returned to the sofa and sat down.

He was agile and showed no signs of illness whatsoever.

A minute later, the doorbell rang.

Aunt Song hurriedly put down her work and ran to open the door. As soon as she saw Huo Qin standing at the door, she smiled and said, "Young Master has arrived. Master has been waiting for a long time."

Old Master Huo, who had pricked up his ears, snorted. He hadn't!

"Hello, Grandma!" Chaochao poked her head out from behind Huo Qin and greeted him in a childish voice.

The little girl wore a cream-colored knitted princess dress, and her soft tea-brown hair was tied into two small buns, each with a delicate bow tied with a red ribbon.

A pair of bright, deer-like eyes looked at her with sparkling eyes.

Oh my! This is our Huo family's little princess!

"Oh! How are you, young lady?" Aunt Song suppressed her excitement and showed a kind and friendly smile.

"Grandma can just call me Chaochao," Chaochao said.

As Chaochao called her "Grandma" repeatedly, Aunt Song's eyes welled up with tears. She had no children and had spent most of her life serving the Huo family. She never imagined that she would be called "Grandma" one day.

Huo Qin neither agreed nor disagreed with Chaochao's form of address. He first knelt down to help Chaochao take off her strappy shoes, and then changed his own shoes.

A look of surprise appeared on Aunt Song's face.

This is the first time I've seen the young master taking care of someone.

The little girl leaned affectionately against her father's shoulder as she changed into fluffy bunny slippers.

Aunt Song specially picked this out for her; the little miss seems to really like rabbits.

While the two were changing their shoes, the old man in the living room couldn't help but steal glances. Huo Qin's tall figure blocked Chaochao's view, so he couldn't see her very clearly.

What did this brat eat to grow so tall?

As she was pondering this, Huo Qin walked over, holding Chaochao's hand.

The old man quickly averted his gaze, straightened his back, and placed his hands on his knees, exuding an air of authority without anger.

Huo Qin spoke calmly, "Dad."

When Chaochao saw her grandfather's stern face, she suddenly felt uneasy. The confidence she had before coming here deflated like a punctured ball.

"Grandpa, hello..."

When Grandpa Huo heard the soft "Grandpa," his heart trembled. He controlled his facial muscles and slowly shifted his gaze to the little girl.

The delicate little bundle of milk looked at him with adorable blankness.

Old Master Huo was overjoyed, but he only gave a lukewarm "hmm" on the surface.

Chaochao secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Grandpa... doesn't seem to like talking much.

Old Master Huo wanted to go to the study with Huo Qin to discuss matters. Huo Qin was worried that the young girl would be too restrained and unhappy, so he instructed her: "You can play as you please. You can go to any room. If you need anything, just tell Aunt Song."

After Huo Qin finished giving his instructions, he watched Chaochao's little figure run away and then turned around to see Old Master Huo looking at him with a complicated expression.

Is this really his heartless son?

Huo Qin: "...Let's go."

...

The Huo family mansion is very large, much larger than Huo Qin's residence, to the point that even if Chaochao installed a small electric motor, he couldn't finish exploring it in an afternoon.

The front yard is elegant and tranquil, with craggy rockeries and babbling brooks. The backyard features a fountain garden, swimming pool, and helipad. This four-story European-style villa is grand and imposing, dignified and rustic, a testament to its profound cultural heritage.
