Three-and-a-half-year-old Chao Chao runs away from home because she is afraid of getting beaten up. She accidentally bonds with a system meant to redeem villains. Her task is to persuade villains t...
Huo Qin looked up and saw this scene, "..."
A hint of coldness crept into the man's indifferent long eyes.
After her initial surprise, Aunt Song called softly, "Chaochao?"
Hearing her own name faintly, Chaochao opened her eyes, teetering on the edge of danger as she swallowed back the drool that was about to spill. She saw Huo Qin standing by the door and immediately became a little more awake.
But it's only a tiny bit.
“Daddy…you’re finally back. I didn’t see you at all…” Chaochao let go of Pei Yushen’s arms, rubbed her eyes, and muttered softly as she tried to climb off the stool.
Pei Yushen was about to reach out to help, but Huo Qin beat him to it and picked Chaochao up.
Pei Yu silently withdrew his hand, slightly adjusted his posture, and sat expressionlessly in his wheelchair, his dark eyes still devoid of emotion. But if one ignored the faint redness at the corners of his eyes, his calm indifference might be even more convincing.
As Huo Qin bent down to pick up Chaochao, he passed by him, and the coldness that rushed towards him was mixed with the scent of ice and snow.
Pei Yushen, with his eyes half-closed, did not react. However, the sudden loss of the cub's warmth on his neck caused a chill to creep up his neck. His fingers involuntarily curled up, but quietly loosened when they touched the serrated edge of the candy wrapper.
Upon hearing the conversation outside the door, Pei Yushen, for some reason, put Chaochao's hand, which he had half-pulled away, back down, his forehead resting on the little dumpling's shoulder.
I thought to myself, "That's fine."
At that moment, his gaze involuntarily followed Chaochao toward the door, where he bumped into the nanny who was standing there in a daze.
He suddenly remembered that he was still wearing a bathrobe, and because of Chaochao's movements of holding him and rocking him, the tied bathrobe had become messy and wrinkled, with half of his leg exposed.
Noticing the surprised gaze of the person outside the door, Pei Yushen's eyes instantly turned cold.
He tacitly allowed Chaochao to touch it, but he did not permit others to look at his legs without restraint.
When the nanny at the door saw Huo Qin carrying Chaochao out, she was puzzled. When did Miss Chaochao go in? Was it while she went to get some water?
The nanny glanced into the room and saw the cold-looking boy pulling a thin blanket over his legs, the tassels of the blanket piled up on the floor.
"Close the door," he said coldly.
After the nanny closed the door, a cloud of doubt lingered in her mind. She felt that something was different about Young Master Pei... But judging from his unpleasant expression, could it be that he had quarreled with Miss Chaochao?
...
Chaochao rested her little face on Huo Qin's shoulder, letting her father carry her to the sofa in the living room.
At the last second, the sleepy Chaochao swallowed her saliva, otherwise she would have had to put on another "Water Melody Dad Head" performance.
Huo Qin knelt on one knee in front of the sofa, his slightly cool fingers pinching the little dumpling's chubby cheeks. "Wake up, Chaochao."
Old Master Huo, who was a step behind in coming out of the study, had just entered the living room when he saw his beloved granddaughter looking as if she had been cursed. He tapped the ground with his cane and asked, "What happened?"
"What? What happened?"
Jiang Chi, returning home from the music room, overheard the old man's question. He had received news not long ago that Chaochao was coming home, and had immediately driven back, arriving just in time.
Jiang Chi's expression changed, and his leisurely steps became more hurried. "Could something have happened to Chaochao?"
Several familiar voices echoed in her ears. Forced to turn on, Chaochao struggled to open her eyes wide. "I...I wasn't asleep!"
Jiang Chi and Old Master Huo immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
Huo Qin frowned slightly and spoke hesitantly.
"You...have been drinking?"
Jiang Chi and Old Master Huo's hearts immediately jumped into their throats.
Chaochao blinked at Huo Qin, then suddenly broke into a cute smile. She held up a chubby finger, "I...I only took a tiny sip..."
Everyone present: "…………"
Great, the anxiety has finally been relieved.
Huo Qin's eyes darkened slightly: "Did you drink it at the Ji family's house?"
"What, what chicken frame... I didn't eat any chicken frames..." Chaochao shook her head blankly, then put her raised finger to her mouth. "I went treasure hunting with Brother Shize and the others... and it was peach flavored! Daddy, you can't tell anyone, okay? It's a secret, shh—"
"..." Huo Qin pieced together the story from the little dumpling's fragmented words, his face as cold as water.
Although Huo Qin knew that President Ji and his wife might not be aware of the situation, it didn't stop him from being angry. After all, Chaochao had drunk the wine at the Ji family's house.
Huo Qin composed himself and looked up to check if the little dumpling had any adverse reactions, when suddenly his head felt heavy.
Chaochao held his head with one hand and grabbed a tuft of his black hair with the other, bringing it to her mouth and sucking hard several times. When she finally realized there was nothing there, she burst into tears, crying, "Why can't I suck up my milk? Waaah..."
Huo Qin, whose head was being held: "…………"
Jiang Chi was stunned.
Old Master Huo, who had just asked Aunt Song to contact the family doctor, froze with a serious expression when he turned around.
Little Chaochao, who hadn't had any milk, shook the milk carton and muttered, "Did I drink it all...?"
Undeterred, she looked down and saw Huo Qin's expressionless face. Chaochao exclaimed in surprise, cupped Huo Qin's cheeks in her little hands, and gave him a sticky kiss. "It's Daddy!"
They didn't care at all why there was a poop face on the milk carton.
Why bother with all that when you're drunk!
Huo Qin, caught off guard by the little dumpling, closed his eyes, let out a long breath, and lifted his eyelids: "Do you know you're drunk?"
