Three-and-a-half-year-old Chao Chao runs away from home because she is afraid of getting beaten up. She accidentally bonds with a system meant to redeem villains. Her task is to persuade villains t...
At 6 p.m., a luxury black Maybach drove out of the World Trade Center building.
On the bus.
The driver glanced at the rearview mirror out of the corner of his eye; he was professionally trained and would generally not overstep the bounds.
Unless you really can't help it.
He had been the Huo family's driver for five years, and this was the first time he had ever seen President Huo bring people home.
The object of her affections was a tiny little girl.
Back seat.
Adults and children sat on either side of each other, the distance between them as vast as an insurmountable chasm.
Huo Qin calmly signed the documents as usual, as if the child next to him didn't exist at all.
Soon after getting on the bus, Chaochao felt drowsy and her eyelids started to droop. She fell asleep in no time.
Her little head bobbed up and down like a chick pecking at rice, while her body tilted uncontrollably to the side.
Just as Chaochao's cheek was about to touch the seat.
Huo Qin couldn't help but reach out and support her shoulder.
He frowned slightly.
The soft flesh on a child's face is very deceptive; in reality, the child is thin and small, with little flesh and grayish marks.
Huo Qin pushed her back to her original position with a hint of disdain.
Before long, Chaochao's head swayed back over.
Huo Qin pushed it back.
Come closer again.
Push it back.
After that, Chaochao made no further moves.
Huo Qin looked up and saw the child curled up like a sick kitten, his thick, curled eyelashes trembling slightly.
The man frowned.
It was early spring, and the temperature dropped quickly at night.
The child was dressed more lightly than many adults.
The driver, noticing that Mr. Huo had closed the window, immediately understood and turned on the heater.
Just as Huo Qin was about to continue working, he suddenly felt something strange in his forearm.
Chaochao somehow managed to wriggle out of the seatbelt, her little bottom slowly shifting to the left before finally settling down peacefully next to the warmth and falling asleep.
Her soft face rested in the crook of his arm, light and airy, like weightless cotton.
Huo Qin frowned, stared for a while, and then looked away.
He didn't push her away again.
The driver who had been stealing a glance opened his eyes wide.
Isn't President Huo the one who hates physical contact the most?
Huo Qin's residence is not far from the company, about a 20-minute drive.
When the car stopped in front of the Huo family's house, Chaochao was still asleep.
Her breathing was long and even, and she even blew a tiny snot bubble, which grew bigger, smaller, and then bigger again.
Huo Qin: "..."
He looked at the driver who was still in the driver's seat.
The driver jumped, quickly suppressing the smile that was creeping onto his face. He got out of the car, opened the other door, gently patted Chaochao's shoulder, and whispered:
"Little friend, it's time to get off the bus..."
Chaochao's ears twitched slightly, but she didn't wake up.
The driver had no choice but to reach out and pick up Chaochao, then take her off the bus.
There's no other way. Should we let his cold-hearted boss do it? Instead of making him imagine the image of the emotionless CEO Huo gently holding a child, it's better to let him learn how to build rockets and go to space.
The driver was so resistant and unwilling to imagine that he didn't notice the slight crack appearing on the usually calm and composed CEO Huo's face.
On the cuff of the suit jacket, where Chaochao had just rested her head, was a dark black water stain.
It was a terrible sight.
Hochin took a deep breath.
Calm down, it only took one night.
As Chaochao landed, the transparent bubble on the tip of her nose popped with a "pop".
The system notification reads: "Baby, wake up, we're home."
When you're alone with the main villain, you have to be extra careful!
Chaochao opened her eyes groggily, "Have we arrived yet?"
She was awake but not fully awake, and could not stand steadily; her little body swayed unsteadily.
Worried that she might fall, the driver quickly took Chaochao's hand and led her through the garden.
Huo Qin had already entered the villa.
After changing his shoes, he placed a pair of cotton slippers in front of Chaochao, his voice indifferent.
"Change your shoes."
As Chaochao walked into the entryway, she finally regained some of her senses. She looked at the slippers, which were three or four times the size of her small feet, with a hint of curiosity.
Chaochao has never worn shoes this big before.
"Okay." The little dumpling nodded.
Huo Qin glanced at her.
I thought the child would be unhappy, but to my surprise, she seemed quite interested.
However, Chaochao squatted down and never got up again.
Her shoelaces came undone this afternoon, but unfortunately she didn't know how to tie them; she just haphazardly twisted them a few times. Now, looking at the tangled straps, her little head is spinning.
The system mentally cheered: "Go Chaochao! You're awesome! Listen to me, do this, then that, then that..."
Chaochao buried her head in her work, huffing and puffing as she struggled with her shoelaces.
A slender hand appeared before her eyes—
Huo Qin squatted down and took the shoelaces from Chaochao's hand.
By the time the child figured it out, it was dark and then light again.
Chaochao blinked, then stood up, her height exactly matching that of Huo Qin, who was squatting down.
She naturally wrapped her arms around his neck, her voice soft and gentle—
"Thank you, Daddy~"
Huo Qin's body stiffened instantly, his mind went blank, and even his heartbeat almost stopped.
He had never been so close to anyone before.
Upon hearing the word "father," the driver gasped and stared in disbelief.
He had guessed that the child was related to President Huo, but he never thought of it as President Huo's daughter!
Oh no, what if he overheard something he shouldn't have, and gets silenced by President Huo?
The driver's lapse in composure brought Huo Qin back to his senses. He lifted his eyelids and glanced at him with a cold and dangerous look.
Aren't you leaving yet?
The driver covered his mouth and wept silently.
My life is over!
He could only suppress his shock, give an awkward smile, and trip over his own feet as he hurriedly left.
The shoelaces were now undone.
