Chapter 72 It Was Him All Along

It was nearly 7 p.m. when Chaochao finally returned home.

"Daddy, I'm home!"

The little dumpling changed her shoes and ran quickly towards the living room.

Suddenly noticing Lin Cheng standing next to the sofa, she immediately turned her footing.

"Oh dear! Uncle Lin! Chaochao misses you so much!"

Lin Cheng squatted down and hugged the little dumpling, his eyes narrowing into slits with a smile. "It's been so long since I've seen Chaochao. How have you been, Chaochao?"

Recently, the boss has been working from home frequently, and Lin Cheng, the general manager's assistant, has had to personally run errands and arrange many things at the company, so he's been quite busy.

But Lin Cheng was enjoying it.

There was nothing I could do; the boss was just giving me too much.

He's willing to be a worker for his boss for the rest of his life!

Upon hearing this, Chaochao nodded emphatically, "Yes, yes, I'm doing great!"

"Cough cough."

Chaochao turned her head at the sound and saw the old man sitting upright on the sofa opposite her. Her almond-shaped eyes widened in surprise, "Grandpa!"

Seeing the child immediately run to his side, Grandpa Huo casually lowered his hand from his mouth to cough and replied with a smile, "Grandpa missed Chaochao, so I came to see you."

As he finished speaking, his hawk-like eyes swept over Lin Cheng out of the corner of his eye, revealing his displeasure.

Hmph, he actually beat him to his lines. As expected of that kid's assistant, he has no sense of propriety either.

When his gaze fell upon the little dumpling again, it instantly softened with affection.

Chaochao was so touched that her eyes welled up with tears. Her grandfather had difficulty walking, yet he still came to see her. He was so kind!

She held Grandpa Huo's hand and rubbed it affectionately, "I'll call Grandpa every day! I'll also tell Grandpa bedtime stories! I'm really good at it!"

Yu Ci fell asleep as soon as he heard that.

Huo Qin, who was pretending to be looking at a tablet in the middle of the sofa, exuded a chilling aura as he raised an eyebrow at the grandfather and grandson.

After I finish telling you the story, you can tell my dad the story?

Grandpa Huo laughed heartily, "Great! Tonight is fine. Grandpa will stay at home for a few days."

Chaochao's mouth dropped open in surprise, "Really—"

"no."

Her voice, cold as shattered jade, immediately refused.

Old Master Huo didn't care at all and made the decision himself.

He returned to the capital.

"Of course it's true, the guest rooms have already been prepared."

"Yay!"

Chaochao happily spun around.

Today she's staying with her dad and her dad's dad, it's so lively, hehe.

Aunt Ning came out of the kitchen and reminded them with a smile, "Sir and Madam, dinner is ready."

Chaochao's eyes lit up like light bulbs: "We can eat so soon?"

Aunt Ning smiled and said, "We're just waiting for Chaochao to come back."

"Then I'll take the bowls!"

The eager little guy immediately darted into the kitchen.

Lin Cheng volunteered to help serve the dishes.

Old Master Huo stood up, looked at Huo Qin, and seemed to be showing off.

"If you're not taking Chaochao back to the old house, then I'll have no choice but to come over."

Huo Qin glanced at him indifferently, "An old man like you still makes a fuss."

Old Master Huo sighed softly, "Only Chaochao will care about my old bones."

Huo Qin's lips twitched slightly.

She's addicted to playing the victim.

Seeing Huo Qin get the short end of the stick, Old Master Huo felt quite pleased.

What's the big deal about staying for a few days?

He has already bought an island in Chaochao's name, and when the weather gets hot, he will take Chaochao there for a vacation, staying for two or three months.

Thinking of this, Old Master Huo couldn't help but beam with joy and walk with a brisk pace.

Seeing Chaochao come out carrying a plate, he immediately slowed down, even limping a little.

Huo Qin behind him: "..."

Chaochao blinked in confusion. Had she just seen her grandfather stride away?

But the next second, her soul was captivated by the enticing aroma of the food.

She must have seen wrong! She must be too hungry, so she'll eat an extra bowl of rice later. Yes, that's right, Daddy will definitely agree!

The little dumpling successfully convinced herself that she had no choice but to admit that she had worked too hard today.

All the dishes were served, and the adults were already seated. Chaochao scrambled onto a stool, tied her little apron around her neck, and squinted her eyes happily, "I'm going to eat!"

She first served food to each adult with great hospitality. After seeing that they had all taken their first bite, she felt at ease and immediately devoted herself to the task of eating, shoveling rice into her mouth and wielding her chopsticks with great skill.

She had been busy taking care of the sick Yu Ci all afternoon, and the exertion had made her stomach rumble. Unfortunately, there was nothing to eat at Yu Ci's brother's house; the refrigerator and cupboards were completely empty.

Chaochao felt so hungry she could eat a whole cow!

She was eating so fast, she practically buried her head in the bowl, her little mouth bulging non-stop, as if she were on fast-forward. Yet, the little one was quite conscious of her image, and not a single grain of rice spilled.

Lin Cheng thought to himself, "So cute! Chaochao is so cute! I really want to take a picture!"

Huo Qin was unsurprised, and simply reminded him in a low voice, "Slow down, don't choke."

"Ouch."

Chaochao, who was engrossed in eating, obediently responded, then opened her mouth and gulped down a large mouthful of water spinach.

When Grandpa Huo saw this, his heart softened, and he thought with great pride, "Old Li always complains that he has to chase after his son to feed him, but look at Chaochao, how well-behaved he is and not picky about food!"

It's a blessing that your child can eat well!

Watching Chaochao finish her third bowl of rice and still want more, wanting another bowl.

Old Master Huo: "..."

My granddaughter's appetite has increased since I last saw her for a few days.

The old man fell into deep thought.

He should buy the entire archipelago there; one island doesn't seem enough for Little Dumpling to show off.

I'm a little worried that the marine life in the surrounding waters will be depleted in just a few years.
