Three-and-a-half-year-old Chao Chao runs away from home because she is afraid of getting beaten up. She accidentally bonds with a system meant to redeem villains. Her task is to persuade villains t...
Chaochao sat on the sofa in the office, with toys she brought from home on the coffee table in front of her, including Lego bricks, children's drawings, and so on.
However, Chaochao wanted to walk around and look around indoors. Although this was her second time at the company, she had only made a brief appearance last time and hadn't had a chance to observe anything.
Huo Qin was already at his desk reviewing documents.
Chaochao didn't want to disturb her father's work, so she quietly started building with blocks.
About half an hour later, Chaochao couldn't sit still anymore. She twisted and turned on the sofa, unable to hold back any longer, and finally looked up at Huo Qin.
"Dad, Chaochao needs to go to the toilet."
Lin Chengjin followed President Huo's instructions and asked a female colleague to accompany Chaochao to the restroom.
The female colleague, Zhu Ying, readily agreed and immediately took Chaochao's hand with great excitement.
Standing at the door of a women's restroom stall, Zhu Ying, suppressing her excitement, said gently, "Just call me if you need help, Chaochao."
She originally wanted to go in with the child, but the baby said in a childish voice that he could do it on his own, so she had to give up.
“Okay~” Chaochao responded softly from inside the door.
When she came out, Zhu Ying picked up Chaochao, washed her hands and dried them, then gently put her down. Chaochao held her hand, her sweet childish voice saying, "Thank you, sister."
Zhu Ying smiled and said, "It's nothing, Chaochao is too kind."
Lin Cheng, who was standing to the side, said quietly, "Why am I the uncle and she is the older sister?"
We're all in our early twenties.
Chaochao's eyes darted between the two of them, hesitating before finally saying honestly, "Because my older sister is prettier..."
Zhu Ying was overjoyed. Seeing Lin Cheng's instantly hurt and aggrieved face, she couldn't help but burst into laughter.
Lin Cheng took a step back, clutching his broken heart—although he wasn't as handsome as President Huo, he was at least good-looking! It must be because he had been exploited by President Huo for so long that he had become haggard, sob sob.
He wants a raise!!!
The commotion immediately attracted a lot of attention. Actually, everyone had noticed Chaochao as soon as she stepped out, but they hadn't had a reason to. Now that Zhu Ying smiled, the opportunity had arrived.
They immediately surrounded Chaochao.
"Little friend, is your name Chaochao? Is Mr. Huo your father?"
"Does Chaochao want some orange candy? I have lots of it."
"This is my nap pillow. I can lean on it and sleep when I'm tired."
"Baby, you're so cute! Can I give you a kiss?"
Chaochao felt like a little rabbit who had fallen into a spider's web in a TV series, surrounded by fragrance, and the older sisters were all very enthusiastic.
After a brief moment of shyness, she quickly became one of the employees, her silver tongue, full of flattery, making the older women beam with joy.
Zhu Ying nudged Lin Cheng with her elbow, "Is Chaochao really President Huo's daughter?"
Lin Cheng didn't know either. The police results weren't out yet, and President Huo hadn't taken the child for a paternity test, but he was unexpectedly fond of her.
He only gave Zhu Ying a "unspeakable" smile.
Zhu Ying had an "Oh, I see" look on her face. "Oh—I get it."
Lin Cheng: ...What do you know?
Behind the crowd, Chen Feifei sat at her desk, glaring at Chaochao, who was surrounded by admirers, her beautifully made-up face twisted with jealousy.
How come Mr. Huo suddenly has a daughter? Isn't he unmarried? What woman is good enough for Mr. Huo? Why isn't she the one by his side?
The thought of that handsome, godlike, and aloof man bearing a child with another woman nearly made Chen Feifei grind her teeth to powder.
Chaochao was eventually rescued from her sisters by Lin Cheng. She returned to Huo Qin's office in a daze, walked to the desk, and tried to stand on tiptoe to show her head.
"Can I go outside to play, Dad?"
Huo Qin's gaze swept over the pairs of expectant eyes peeking through the gaps in the blinds, "..."
It seems like there's not enough work.
But looking into the little dumpling's bright almond-shaped eyes...
Huo Qin nodded slightly. "Be careful."
After Chaochao left happily with her toys, Lin Cheng, who appeared out of nowhere, watched her receding figure with a mixture of heartache and resentment.
He walked into the office with a document in his hand, his usually gentle face now showing a coldness as he suppressed his anger.
"Mr. Huo, the investigation you asked me to conduct has yielded results." Lin Cheng took a deep breath and tried to calmly state his position. "Chaochao was an abandoned baby that Grandma Zhou found at the gate of an abandoned orphanage. She took her in and raised her for three years. A month ago, after Grandma Zhou suddenly fell ill and passed away, her son Sun Yongqiang, whom she had not contacted for fifteen years, suddenly reappeared. He moved from the chemical plant dormitory to a house in the city with his wife and child and took over the responsibility of raising Chaochao."
Lin Cheng's Adam's apple bobbed, somewhat reluctantly, "During this period, according to what the neighbors saw and heard, the Sun family of three... has been mistreating Chaochao."
In the cold of March, the little girl had no choice but to sleep on the drafty balcony.
They don't feed them enough for three meals a day, often only giving them a single steamed bun.
The child is frequently verbally abused, and she is pinched and hit when things don't go her way; physical punishment is commonplace...
This could absolutely be called abuse!
Huo Qin looked down at the documents, his face icy cold, his brows and eyes covered with a thick layer of frost, his thin lips pressed into a straight line, and a terrifying aura emanating from his body that sent chills down one's spine.
Outside the CEO's office.
The older sisters designated a special area for Chaochao to play in; they found it a pleasure to look at such an adorable baby.
Chaochao was quietly building blocks at that moment.
The system, however, sensed something was wrong.
After Chaochao went over there to pick up a rolled log and came back, she became unusually quiet.
"Chaochao, what's wrong?"
The building blocks tumbled to the ground, and the little girl's voice was muffled: "Does Daddy not want me anymore?"
