Xu Jiayue's lips trembled slightly, and her face became even more pale. She covered her mouth, turned around, and ran out of the ward.

In a panic, Ni Sitian ran out after her.

Xu Jiayue ran too fast, and she couldn't keep up. Soon she disappeared from sight.

As she ran into the lobby, she ran into Pei Yang, who had just finished completing the formalities. She gasped, "Hurry, go after Jia Yue!"

Pei Yang frowned and quickly ran out of the hospital.

Ni Sitian stood with her hands on her hips, panting heavily.

Inside the ward, Xu Tingchuan frowned and said in a hard voice, "Jiayue wouldn't do such a thing. You should know her. Even if she likes you, she wouldn't hurt Fu Wenuan."

Gu Chen's expression was calm, and his voice was not as cold as before: "I know."

Xu Tingchuan frowned slightly. "Are you doing this on purpose? Trying to make Jia Yue give up on you?"

Gu Chen didn't respond, but that was considered tacit agreement.

Xu Tingchuan understood Gu Chen's thoughts, relaxed his brows, let out a soft breath, and turned to leave the ward.

As soon as he stepped out of the ward, he saw Ni Sitian walking back. "Where's Jiayue?"

"I can't catch up, Pei Yang went after him." Ni Sitian was still breathing heavily as she headed towards the ward.

Xu Tingchuan grabbed her arm. Ni Sitian looked at him anxiously: "I have to explain to Gu Chen that Jia Yue didn't know Wen Nuan was allergic to plums. She didn't lie to Wen Nuan about drinking them; Wen Nuan wanted to drink them."

"I know, don't worry." Xu Tingchuan gently patted her back to help her catch her breath, and said, "Gu Chen knows that Jia Yue wouldn't do that. He just wants Jia Yue to give up on him."

Ni Sitian was surprised.

“Jiayue has liked Gu Chen for many years. No matter how Gu Chen rejected her before, she never truly gave up. Even though he already has Fu Wennuan, she still likes him. That’s why Gu Chen acted that way just now,” Xu Tingchuan explained to her.

After hearing this, Ni Sitian bit her lip lightly, "Jiayue is so pitiful."

It must be upsetting to be seen as a bad person by someone you like.

"A short pain is worse than a long one." Xu Tingchuan sighed softly. "Love can only hold two people. He did this for Fu Wennuan and also for Jia Yue's sake."

Ni Sitian was silent for a moment, then nodded. She could understand why Gu Chen did this.

"Will Wen Nuan be alright?" Ni Sitian thought for a moment and began to worry about Fu Wen Nuan again.

"It's alright," Xu Tingchuan said softly, stroking Ni Sitian's hair.

Ni Sitian took a step forward, wrapped her arms around Xu Tingchuan's waist, and whispered, "It's alright, it's alright that we like each other."

"Silly girl." Xu Tingchuan hugged her and kissed her on the head.

In the hospital room, Fu Wenuan woke up. Gu Chen sat down, took her hand, and asked with concern, "How are you feeling?"

Fu Wenwen was a little weak. She shook her head, seemingly wanting to say something but then stopped herself.

Gu Chen tucked the blanket around her and said knowingly, "You want to ask about Jia Yue?"

"Uh, you knew I woke up early?" Fu Wenwen's voice was hoarse and a little weak.

"Every time you wake up, your eyeballs roll around under your eyelids first," Gu Chen said with a faint smile.

"You saw right through me again. How am I supposed to win Best Actress now?" Fu Wenwen muttered.

Gu Chen smoothed Fu Wennuan's hair. "Only I can see through it. It won't affect your chance to win Best Actress."

Fu Wenwen's lips curved slightly, then she became serious again, and snorted twice: "You think you can get away with just praising me a few times? What's going on between you and Jiayue?"
