Surviving in the Big Mountains: 1984

Wang Tianxiao is reborn thirty years ago, the day before his eldest son's birth.

In temperatures below minus twenty degrees, his heavily pregnant wife clutches their three-year-old daught...

Chapter 211 Mutual Compliments

"Sounds pretty good."

"That's pretty good. To be honest, I never thought I could make so much money in this kind of processing industry. At this rate, I can earn enough in a year to cover the cost of a hotel for three years. Then why bother running a hotel? Don't you think so?"

“This is not a concept,” Wang Tianxiao said with a smile. “It’s not that the hotel industry has no prospects, but rather that the current hotel industry has no prospects, and that the hotel industry in our small city is not easy to develop. The real hotel industry needs to find developed cities or cities with relatively frequent people coming and going.”

Zhang Wenyuan thought for a moment and nodded: "Actually, I had thought about this problem before. Because our city is small and remote, surrounded by mountains on several sides, there isn't even a decent road to get out, so there aren't many customers. If we only rely on the local people, how much profit can we make?"

“That’s right, that’s exactly the point. I’ve wanted to tell you this before: the reason you’re making money running a hotel in Qingcheng isn’t because of the hotel itself, but because of your connections. With those connections, you can make money doing anything; there’s no need to be completely tied to the hotel.”

"Well, if you had told me this before, I definitely wouldn't have believed it, but now that I've tasted the benefits of the real economy, I understand what you're saying all at once."

"Haha, you grasped it pretty quickly."

"Don't worry, I've always been a person of integrity and loyalty. You were the one who guided me to this business opportunity, so I definitely won't let you suffer any losses. Your shares will remain forever, and as long as I make money, you won't be shortchanged."

"Haha, then we'll have to rely entirely on General Manager Zhang."

"I would say we are mutually beneficial. I have money and connections, and you have experience. I really want you to work with me. I can split the shares with you 50/50, and I will bear all the capital and personnel investment. You only need to be responsible for the operation and management of the company."

Seeing that Zhang Wenyuan was speaking very seriously, Wang Tianxiao quickly shook his head.

He actually knows his own limitations.

He may have a lot of theories, but that doesn't necessarily mean he can actually do them well if you put them into practice.

Just like a student can get into Tsinghua or Peking University, but the teacher who teaches him may not be able to get in.

The prefabrication plant made money partly due to his suggestions, but more importantly, it was managed very well by Wu Ping.

Without meticulous management that is put into practice, he is just talking the talk; once he is taken out for a short trip, his true colors will immediately be revealed.

Wang Tianxiao felt that he did not yet have the ability to manage a company.

He has to personally test many of his ideas before he can truly trust them and expand them to a wider range of fields.

Otherwise, if something goes wrong with him, what will happen to the money that people have lost, since they've invested real money in this business? Who will they ask for it from?

A person should have self-awareness.

Blindly exaggerating one's abilities only makes one feel inflated and unrealistic.

The only ending was the regret of being shattered to pieces.

“I’m just offering some suggestions and ideas. The real work is done by you people below,” Wang Tianxiao said with a smile. “Take the prefabrication yard for example. No matter how well I explain it, it’s not like it can just turn into a telephone pole and float out. If there’s anything to sell, it’s because Wuping manages it well. You should thank your brother-in-law more.”

"That's for sure. Although my brother-in-law doesn't have grand ideas, he always carries out tasks assigned to him very well. So I think he's a general-type talent. He lacks a sense of the big picture and foresight, but he can do a great job in specific areas."

"That's right, Mr. Zhang. Your words make me feel ashamed."

"No way, in my heart, Lao Wang, you are a rare talent. Although, as you said, you don't have actual management experience, Wu Ping has told me about the management thinking and models you proposed, and they are used very well. How should I put it? Looking at many of your viewpoints, I can only describe them with one word: sophisticated."

Seeing Wang Tianxiao's bewildered expression, Zhang Wenyuan added, "I guess you're the only one who doesn't think you're that great. When I shared some of your views and ideas with my business friends, they were all amazed. Many of them want to get to know you, but I don't intend to introduce you to them. Why? Because I'm afraid you'll be lured away by other people's temptations."

“I’m not some virgin, why would I be afraid of running off with someone?”

"Of course I'm scared. How can I not be scared? With your abilities, if you were to end up with one of my competitors, or even one of my friends, it would be a huge loss for me. I would rather lose a million than have you snatched away by someone else."

Wang Tianxiao suddenly burst into laughter.

"What's wrong?"

"Don't you think it's kind of boring for us to keep complimenting each other like this?"

Zhang Wenyuan was stunned for a moment, then chuckled to himself.

"Yeah, it's pretty boring."

"Then how about we be more normal and direct from now on? If there's something to say, we'll just get to the point. Let's avoid flattering each other as much as possible?"

"Okay, I think so too."

Zhang Wenyuan also smiled.

Although he felt that Wang Tianxiao did deserve such praise, he saw that Wang Tianxiao didn't seem to be enjoying it, so he decided to let it go.

Since Wang Tianxiao is a straightforward and simple person, let's follow his lead.

It's good that we don't beat around the bush.

"Old Wang, to be honest, no matter what I do with others, I consider you a friend. You believe me, right?"

Wang Tianxiao laughed and said, "This is not a good sign. People always say, never do business with your friends."

“That’s for ordinary people, you’re not… Ah, how come we’re going back to the old ways again?”
