An unusual experience made me realize the value of life, but by the time I looked back, I was already in my twilight years.
It seemed long, yet it passed in a flash.
Bloodthirsty new cr...
“Friend, you need to stay calm, especially in situations like this. I wasn’t idle while we were running away; I’ve already come up with an idea.”
The darkness is both an obstacle and a protection for us. If we cooperate well, we can definitely escape.
Dante's face lit up with delight upon hearing this.
"Good! As expected of you, sir. As long as we can get out, we'll follow your arrangements."
"Let's talk about this once we get out of here. I don't know how long my method can fool those Haru. We need to escape to a safe place as soon as possible; there's no point in saying anything more now."
Having said that, I began preparing the props for what I was going to do while walking at a steady pace. This time, I was going to use the same method to lure those Haru away from the mountain and trick them again.
"Dante, bring me some rope."
The ropes and other equipment are all in Dante's backpack. Now I'm going to take some ropes out to use.
Without hesitation, Dante, though unable to see it, could still easily identify the rope by touch. He then took out a small bundle of rope.
The rope was still hemp rope, which, unless exposed to sun and rain all year round, was much more durable than regular nylon rope.
I trimmed the branches off four dry tree branches, which were slightly thicker than a thumb, leaving only four sticks about 30 centimeters long.
I fumbled around the sticks, trying to align both ends as much as possible. Then I started winding them back and forth to connect the four sticks into a single unit, forming a plank.
Leave about one meter of rope out and secure both ends with a snap knot to form a swing-like structure.
In fact, what I'm making now is a simplified version of a swing.
Make two tight knots at 30-centimeter intervals at the top of the long rope that has already been tied to the two ends of the wooden stick, to serve as the two anchor points on the left and right sides above the swing.
At this point, Dante and the others couldn't see what I was doing, but they had seen many strange and unusual things I made before, so they weren't surprised.
Su Su was still a little curious and asked me,
"Master, what is this thing you made on the spot? Is it useful?"
I simply smiled faintly and responded truthfully.
"What I made was the kind of simple swing that tribal children play on."
"ah!"
At that moment, Su Su and Dante exclaimed in surprise. Even though they were used to my jumping thoughts, they still felt like they couldn't keep up with my pace.
No matter how they think about it, they can hardly imagine that at this critical moment, I'm actually playing on a child's swing. What does this have to do with our current escape? It's completely unrelated.
Noticing their confusion, I explained to them as I walked.
"Don't think that our survival has nothing to do with the swing; in fact, there is a connection."
I continued,
"Actually, I was planning to use this swing for Top to play on."
Hearing what I said, Su Su and Dante were even more confused.
What!
Did you spend all that time just to make a toy for Top to play with? Dude, do you even know what you're talking about? Everyone's running for their lives, and you're making a toy? Seriously?
At this moment, not only Su Su and Dante, but even Top, who had just heard the conversation, froze for a moment. What the hell was going on? We're running for our lives, why are you making me toys?
I may be a monkey, but I'm not the Monkey King. If you want to bribe me to do something, I need to have the ability first.
"Don't be nervous, I haven't finished speaking yet. We still have a drone here, right? This swing will act as an external vehicle for the drone. Top can sit on it and operate it to distract our enemies, understand?"
I said it in a very serious tone.
Su Su and Dante always hear me rambling on and on about strange things, like drones and vehicles.
Su Su frowned and said, "Master, we still don't quite understand. Could you explain it in simpler terms?"
I sighed. It seems I'll have to strengthen their knowledge and science education in the future. So I changed my approach...
"What I mean is to have Top sit on the swing, and then have Pat grab the rope and fly high into the air, taking Top away from our position."
At this point, I would give Top a tactical flashlight and wait until they are far enough away before landing on the ground.
Top turned on his flashlight to attract the attention of the Haru, and they would immediately run towards him.
By repeating this process several times, we can lure that large group of silly gorillas to a place far away from us, thus ensuring our safety.
The swing I built was actually to protect Top from Pat's claws. In the dark, if someone were to grab Top directly with their claws, they'd leave several bloody holes.
After hearing my detailed description, Dante and Susu's eyes lit up. The boss truly lives up to his name; only someone with such a unique mind could come up with such an ingenious solution.
"Master, what should we do next?" Su Su asked.
“Feed Pat well, and give all the remaining fresh meat to Top. We’ll stay put and wait for them to return,” I said simply.
"Sir, is Top capable of doing this job?" Dante was still a little worried, mainly because he was afraid that something might happen to Top and the others.
“Dante, we have to trust Top; it’s our friend too. Don’t worry too much. Top and Pat are very close, and Pat will take good care of it. The sky isn’t the domain of those Haru.” I said seriously.
"Okay, I believe Top and I believe Pat. They will definitely return safely."
As I instructed, Dante began to remove the muscles of the giant dragonfly hanging from his backpack and feed them to Pat.
Susu filled the leather bag that she had previously used to keep Pat powered up with meat, slung it over Top's shoulder, and handed Top a tactical flashlight.
I went over some things to be careful about with Top again, especially that we must not turn on the flashlight until we land, otherwise our whole plan will be exposed.
Having done all this, Pat, under Top's command, began flying in the opposite direction from us.
It was nighttime, which posed a significant challenge for Pat, who usually relied on his eyesight during the day.
Fortunately, Top was clever enough; although they couldn't see the road at the moment, the torches in the hands of those Haru were very conspicuous.
Using these torches as a reference point, Pat quickly led Top to a location a kilometer away from us.
Then I saw a beam of blue flashlight light appear in the dense forest, which, as I expected, immediately caught Haru's attention.
Their search party turned and ran quickly towards Top. Top even added a scream to his act, which made the pursuing Haru even more certain that we were in that area.
