The force of the collision caused both of them to take a step back.

The difference was that when the wolf king retreated, he staggered and shook his head from time to time, clearly stunned by Lin Ruo's kick.

Lin Ruo's body flipped as she retreated, landing firmly on the ground. Taking advantage of the wolf king's momentary daze, she pounced forward, her knife slashing horizontally towards the wolf king's foreleg.

The black jade longsword was incredibly sharp. With a twist and a slash, it pierced the wolf king's belly, slicing it open and spilling its intestines onto the ground, where they quickly froze.

"Woo..." The wolf king let out a mournful cry and collapsed to the ground.

When the wolf pack saw that their alpha was dying, they tried to retreat quickly, but were blocked by Afu and Ashou.

Lin Ruo walked up to the wolf king, who was still breathing, but was now on his deathbed.

She raised her knife amidst the wolf king's terrified gaze and plunged it straight into the wolf king's forehead, prying out a fist-sized level 2 crystal core from its brain.

The wolf king was completely dead. A blue light flashed in Lin Ruo's eyes, and she froze the wolf king's corpse. This level 2 mutated beast was a delicacy for Afu and Ashou, so she couldn't throw it away. The blue light in her eyes flashed again, and a flat ice cart with four wheels appeared under the wolf king's corpse. She pushed it with one hand and walked towards the convoy.

The remaining pack of wolves was scattered and disorganized, with the ground littered with their corpses. Only a few were still putting up a stubborn resistance, but they were all dealt with by Afu and Ashou.

After Ah Fu and Ah Shou finished off the thirty-odd ordinary mutated wolves, there were still a few wolves at the B City base. Because they were very fast, they skillfully avoided the impact of the shells and were not injured. They even took the opportunity to rush into the crowd and bite several soldiers.

Afu and Ashou exchanged a glance and quickly ran over, killing the several incredibly fast mutated wolves.

The battle was over, and bloodstains were everywhere. The stench of blood was so strong it was pungent, and Ah Shou sneezed several times in a row.

Lin Ruo returned with the Level 2 crystal core and first examined Afu and Ashou. She found that they only had superficial wounds, and under the cover of night, she quietly treated them.

Then, she used her black jade longsword to dig out the crystal core from the brain of the wolf Afu and Ashou, who had killed it. Afu and Ashou were responsible for dragging the wolf king's corpse from the ice cart into Lin Ruo's carriage.

At this moment, Ye Lin walked over and had his men dig up all the wolf corpses they had killed. There were also a few that were level one mutated beasts. He handed the crystal cores that had been dug up to Lin Ruo.

Lin Ruo looked up, puzzled.

"You deserve it." After her battle with the Wolf King today, Ye Lin was truly impressed. He saw with his night-vision goggles that she didn't use any special abilities at all during the entire battle.

“No need, I’ll only take the ones I killed with Afu and Ashou,” Lin Ruo lowered her head and continued digging for crystal cores. “These aren’t included in our deal, I don’t want them.”

Ye Lin paused, not understanding why she was so determined to distance herself from them. "Did the people from our B City base offend you before?"

Lin Ruo turned her blade and smashed the wolf's head. To be honest, she had no grudge against the B City base; the A City base was the real grudge. But with her past life's experiences still vivid in her mind, she didn't want to get involved with anyone else again.

“No,” Lin Ruo said, prying the crystal core out of the last wolf’s brain. He stood up, covered in the smell of blood, and looked at Ye Lin calmly. “I’m averse to trouble. This is a one-time transaction, and there’s even less need for making friends.”

After she finished speaking, she turned around and walked towards her truck, where Afu and Ashou were already waiting.

Ye Lin sighed. If such an expert could join the base, it would be a great asset. Unfortunately, everyone has their own ambitions, and he couldn't force him to join.

In truth, he didn't know how he felt. Ever since he learned that his wife and children had died in F City, a crack had appeared in his firm belief. Otherwise, he wouldn't have proposed that burden reduction plan to the base commander.

Perhaps sooner or later he will become one of those people he used to be ashamed of.

He took a deep breath, the intense cold piercing his lungs. After coughing a few times, he turned and returned to the truck where he was.

Inside the driver's cab, Jiang Yue was fiddling with a military knife. Seeing him get in, he smiled and asked, "How did it go? Did you put it away?"

Ye Lin shook his head and remained silent.

Jiang Yue chuckled softly, "This person lives a real and clear-headed life, strong yet lonely, truly suited to this kind of world."

Ye Lin glanced at him, then turned to the walkie-talkie in front of him and said, "Everyone, be careful, the smell of blood here is too strong, we need to move out immediately."

Lin Ruo settled Afu and Ashou in the carriage but didn't bathe them right away. The weather was too cold now, and they would have to wait until it got light and the temperature rose before giving them a bath.

The convoy slowly set off, with Lin Ruo following at the back. Her mental energy extended backward and she discovered that after traveling only a kilometer, a large number of mutated animals appeared behind them. However, these animals were attracted by the wolf carcasses on the ground and did not chase after them.

They drove for five hours, until after eight o'clock, when it was already bright daylight, before stopping at a secluded spot to rest.

The convoy immediately became excited, and five huge bonfires were lit, around which the soldiers sat down.
