"This is a spy from Country M, take him away!"
The captain's face immediately turned extremely ugly. Thinking of his compatriots who were infected with the virus and were still suffering, he wished he could pounce on this person and tear off a few pieces of flesh.
Old Li watched as the soldiers casually tossed the medal that symbolized his honor into their backpacks. His eyes were filled with hatred as he looked at them. He was pushed and shoved forward by the soldiers, his steps faltering, but his face was full of unrestrained laughter.
"Hahahaha! What good is it to catch me! You'll all be dead soon! I have a whole base of people with me, that's enough for my life!"
The surrounding soldiers were already burning with rage, but they were all suppressing their anger. Now, his words had fueled their fury even more. One of the soldiers looked at the captain and asked, "Captain, did the commander say that as long as these people are alive, that's fine?"
The captain could tell what the man was up to just by looking into his eyes. He simply nodded and strode forward, pretending not to know anything.
Old Li stood in the middle, surrounded by a group of soldiers. His expression changed, and he involuntarily took a few steps back, his face filled with fear and hesitation. "What are you doing! I'm an important hostage. If you treat me like this, the US base won't..."
Before he could finish speaking, a fist the size of a sandbag struck his face, instantly dislocating his features and causing his withered, thin face to veer violently to the side.
"ah!"
The soldiers surrounded Old Li, punching and kicking him for several minutes, during which screams could be heard continuously. They only stopped when the screams ceased.
At this point, Old Li, lying on the ground, had no good spots on his body; it was covered in bruises, and his old face was a mess, with bloodstains all over his body.
"Alright, leave him a breath, don't kill him."
"Pah! Isn't that arrogant! So arrogant!"
Finally, they kicked him one last time before dragging the man, who looked like a dead dog, onward.
Those being escorted nearby naturally saw the commotion and all lowered their heads in fear, not daring to resist in the slightest.
...
The dimly lit cell was only illuminated by a faint light.
Old Li had just been dragged back when he was woken up by a basin of ice water. He slowly opened his eyes, feeling the intense pain all over his body as his limbs were bound to the rack. Hatred gleamed in his eyes.
He looked up at Jiang Yue, who was standing not far from him. Seeing the gloomy expression on Jiang Yue's face, Old Li grinned. This action aggravated his wound, making his movements particularly stiff.
"You are a spy from the United States. Tell us everything you know, and you can suffer less."
Old Li chuckled twice. "I've done all I can. What's the use of me saying it now? Your people are already infected with the virus. Even if I die, you'll be coming down to compensate me soon. What am I afraid of?"
Jiang Yue's eyes darkened. "So you're admitting that you released these viruses, and that this is your newly developed drug?"
"So what if I am? Go ahead and kill me if you dare." Old Li sneered. The force of his laughter had aggravated his injury, and he coughed slightly a few times.
Jiang Yue laughed, a smile that was usually gentle and warm, but now it was somewhat chilling. "You think the worst outcome is death? Do you know that there is an outcome called 'living a life worse than death'? Today I'll let you experience that."
“We’ll subject him to all of our torture methods, and once he’s recovered, I’ll question him.”
The superhuman next to him stepped forward with a leather whip soaked in seawater, saying, "Brother Yue, hold it steady."
Jiang Yue sat in the torture chamber. Old Li was being whipped until his skin was torn and bleeding. At first, he kept cursing wildly, but no one in the torture chamber reacted.
When he was beaten to the point of near death, the superhuman laughed and picked up an iron bucket from the side. "Your wounds are too plain. Let me add some seasoning. The salt in this seawater is very strong. Enjoy."
Upon hearing that it was saline solution, Old Li's eyes widened in fear. "No, no!"
No matter what he said, the entire bucket of salt water was not wasted; it was all poured over him.
"ah----!"
Old Li nearly fainted from the pain several times, but someone pinched his philtrum hard, preventing him from passing out and escaping the pain.
He was trembling uncontrollably from the pain. The pain was so intense that it felt as if his skin and flesh were being peeled away. He almost ground his teeth to powder, and it was only with great difficulty that he managed to endure it.
He saw the man bring over another iron bucket, and Old Li twisted and turned in fear, crying out, "No! No! You're being too cruel!"
The superhuman executing the punishment smirked, “This is nothing. This is the lightest punishment we have here. The previous bucket was salt water, but this one is not. This is chili water. Now that it’s the apocalypse, these chilies are specially cultivated by us. Consider this a way of treating you as a guest.”
"You are simply devils!"
As the man carrying the bucket approached him, Old Li became frightened. The memory of the pain he had just experienced was deeply etched into his body. "I was wrong, I confess! What do you want to know? I'll tell you everything! Please, just give me a quick death!"
Jiang Yue, standing in front, sneered. This is the kind of trained spy from the United States, so spineless.
The superhuman glanced at Jiang Yue, and seeing that he didn't speak, he understood. He turned back and said, "Where did your arrogance go? We Chinese people always keep our word. If we say we'll let you try everything, we'll definitely grant your wish."
