The next morning was dawn.

Fujiwara Yu got up for morning exercise as usual, but what he didn't expect was that before he turned on the treadmill button, the phone in his pocket started ringing. He was a little surprised when he saw the caller ID. It was actually the head of the third department, Megure Jusan, who was responsible for forcible crimes.

He answered the phone while starting the treadmill, adjusted the call mode to loud speaker, and asked:

"Inspector Takashi, did you go to the Twin Towers skyscraper yesterday? The new one in Nishitama City."

"Um, Inspector Megure, did something happen?"

Councillor Ohki had ordered breakfast the previous night and had requested it be delivered to the living room outside the suite. The staff smelled a strange odor and approached the bedroom, where they saw Councillor Ohki Iwamatsu tragically dead."

Was the death in the suite? Besides the hotel staff, the only people present yesterday were the ones who knew about Oki Yansong's stay at the Twin Towers. If it was an organization, then Yuan Jiaming likely leaked the information. But if it wasn't an organization... then we need to investigate thoroughly.

After a moment's thought, Fujiwara Yuu turned off the treadmill and walked towards the bathroom, not forgetting to say:

"Inspector Megure, the investigation of the scene should be complete, right? I'll take a shower and then leave for the Metropolitan Police Department."

"Well, please come over here. After all, you had contact with the victim yesterday. Thank you for your help."

After a quick wash and a change of clean clothes, Fujiwara Yuu said hello to Miyano Akemi and headed for the elevator, a piece of toast in his mouth. He took the elevator down to the underground parking garage, started the car, and headed for the Metropolitan Police Department.

He walked easily to the large office of the Criminal Investigation Department 3, which was directly across from the Special Investigation Department 7. Led by Chiba Kazunobu, he rushed to the conference room. When he opened the door, he saw several familiar faces. Even the Junior Detective Team had been summoned.

Seeing that everyone had gathered, Megure Jusan said with a serious face:

"The reason I've called you all here is because a body was found in a suite in the Twin Towers, where someone was stabbed to death."

Chiba Kazunobu was very cooperative. He put the photo of Oki Iwamatsu on the whiteboard. As soon as it was posted, everyone present was surprised. The expressions of Mouri Kogoro and Edogawa Conan changed instantly. They all realized that this matter was not simple.

The murder of a congressman is not a trivial matter. If it is not handled properly, the entire three-department criminal system will be in trouble. Megure Jusan, who has no background, is more likely to be severely punished. He will have to stay in the position of police inspector for the rest of his life and will not be able to move forward.

Megure Jusan winked at Chiba Kazunobu, who understood and flipped open the event log in his hand, saying:

"A small wine glass broken into two?" Kogoro Mouri held his chin and thought. If this was a death message left by the victim, what would it mean? Was he trying to say that he was killed by the person he drank with?

Shiratori Renzaburo took out the broken wine glass from the evidence bag and explained:

"This small wine glass is a high-priced item. Councillor Oki enjoys drinking, so it's likely that it was brought along with sake. We analyze it as a possible intentional message left by the murderer to hint at his identity."

"So the police think the murderer is one of those five people?" Kogoro Mouri asked as he looked at the five new photos on the whiteboard.

"Well, that's the situation at the moment."

Fujiwara Yu stared at the broken wine glass in the evidence bag without saying a word. He didn't understand why the murderer deliberately left such a thing to hint at his identity. This was nothing more than a provocation to the police.

The organization would habitually disguise the scene as a suicide. It is obviously not their style to come up with these fancy messages. It seems that we can rule out the possibility that Oki Yansong was murdered by the organization's killer.

Megure Jusan thought of the pressure put on him by the top management and sighed helplessly:

"Councilor Ohki's position is also quite complex. Although he's a city council member, he seems to wield more power than the mayor. For example, the twin towers were forcibly amended to force the passage of a municipal law that originally prohibited high-rise construction."

"So that's how it is. No wonder Miss Mio couldn't refuse Mr. Oki's request." Ran Mouri said, thinking of the scene at that time.
