Summary: I was reborn, carrying the strongest swordsman account from the game "God Venerate," but the scenario of easily dominating another world did not happen. After all, what does the ga...
"How is it? Delicious, right?" Violet blinked, eagerly awaiting Wu Yu's reply.
"It's wonderful. Without exaggeration, this is the most delicious food I've ever eaten in this world." Even though he had just been frightened by Violet's prank, Wu Yu couldn't lie and didn't hold back his praise.
"You're quite the smooth talker, Wu Yu." Upon hearing Wu Yu's words, Violet felt as sweet as if she had been coated with honey, and she smiled even more happily. "Since you've eaten the food I cooked, I'd like to make a small request. You won't refuse me, will you?"
"You can actually cook?" Wu Yu's focus immediately shifted.
“Of course, I can cook any of the more famous dishes in the entire empire,” Violet said proudly.
"Tell me what's going on," Wu Yu said calmly, picking up some vegetables and putting them in his mouth.
"It's about the practical training exercise for enrollment a month from now. Wu Yu, are you aware of this?" Violet kept everyone in suspense for a moment.
"I know, what's wrong? Do you want me to train you in combat skills?" Wu Yu made the most reasonable guess.
"No, no, no, it's not that complicated." Violet shook her head in denial, then cautiously asked, "I could never be your match, Wu Yu, so if we were to meet, could you deliberately lose to me?"
"Smack."
Wu Yu slammed his hand on the table and said in a shrill voice, "You want me to throw the match! Do you think you can bribe me, Wu, with just one meal?"
"No, I, actually." Violet seemed to be frightened by Wu Yu's attitude, and her words became somewhat incoherent.
Seeing Violet's reserved demeanor, Wu Yu casually picked up another piece of meat and put it in his mouth. Savoring the indescribable deliciousness, Wu Yu said excitedly...
"It smells so good!"
"Tell me, why do you want me to deliberately lose to you? As long as the reason isn't too outrageous, I'll agree." Wu Yu then acted very agreeable again.
“My strength is the result of my brother’s hard work, so I want to prove that his efforts were not in vain, and that I am now no less capable than anyone else,” Violet said firmly.
"Alright then, I'll deliberately lose to you, but only if you can meet me." Wu Yu didn't think much of it and felt that Violet's suggestion made sense, so he didn't want to refuse.
Wu Yu didn't take this kind of trivial matter to heart. Although he seemed to have promised his teacher that he would be number one, it was only because he didn't care about the outcome of the competition. How could his teacher be as important as Violet?
However, everything has its order of arrival. He'll explain to the teacher tomorrow; even heroes have their weaknesses, and the teacher will likely understand. Besides, with so many new students in the academy, Violet might not even run into him. It's not that Wu Yu looks down on Violet; his judgments are based on reality. How could a young lady who has never fought anyone possibly win?
"Thank you, Wu Yu." Violet was finally relieved to hear Wu Yu's reply.
"Speaking of which, aren't there three third-tier mages in this year's academy? Even without me, you might not be able to defeat them, right?" Wu Yu didn't think highly of her at all, so he didn't use any tactful way of speaking.
"Hmph, I have my own brilliant plan. You'll see when the time comes. Besides, how could those people compare to you, Wu Yu? It's already a foul for you to participate in the competition. Making you lose to me on purpose is just to maintain the fairness of the competition," Violet said righteously.
"Quick-witted and sharp-tongued," Wu Yu commented. Then, he thought of something amusing and suggested, "How about you and I have a match in the courtyard later? I want to see how good you are."
“No problem, I’ll show you what I’m capable of today,” Violet said confidently, but then she added, “But Wu Yu, you can’t take this opportunity to bully me.”
"I promise," Wu Yu had no choice but to raise his hand and swear.
After a satisfying meal, Wu Yu and his companion rested for a while before heading to the courtyard.
Violet took out her staff, while Wu Yu used his sword, since he didn't know any magic and couldn't very well fight her with magic.
However, Wu Yu removed all his skills this time. He was prepared to fight Violet fairly without relying on the system. This was not only to test Violet's strength, but Wu Yu also wanted to see what level he was at now.
"You go first." Wu Yu gave up the warrior's greatest advantage of going first, intending to give Violet time to cast her incantation.
“Don’t underestimate me, Wu Yu, then I won’t hold back!” Violet shouted.
She held the staff to her chest, and the magic crystal embedded in its tip began to emit an earthy yellow light, then Violet began to chant.
"Decompose." [Pitfall Technique]
Is this some new magic she's mastered? Interesting.
Wu Yu cautiously observed his surroundings, but found that nothing had changed.
"No movement. It seems you didn't cherish this hard-won opportunity. Now it's my turn." After saying this, Wu Yu took a step forward, preparing to launch his attack.
But little did anyone know, with that one step, the solid ground lost its weight, and Wu Yu's entire foot sank into the ground.
The clod of earth turned into sand, and Wu Yu finally realized what Violet had just done. Her magic should have been to break the clod of earth into fine sand, a harmless skill, but Violet had made it work like a magic trick. He had really underestimated her.
