System and I Don't Match

Chapter Seventeen

The distance is less than 100 meters.

"Bang bang bang".

The cave reached its limit at this point, and boulders began to fall like dumplings being dropped into a pot.

Its size, almost the size of a human, meant that Wu Yu, in his normal state, could no longer knock it away.

Wu Yu has the ability to dodge, so the boulder poses no threat to him, but Violet has no such ability to help her.

After luckily dodging several boulders, a boulder finally appeared precisely above Violet's head.

The skill [Dodge] gave Wu Yu feedback that he should stop immediately and then take two meters to the right to avoid being hit by the boulder.

But Wu Yu's choice was!

Increase the limit of [Insight], accelerate thinking, and enter bullet time.

The noisy environment suddenly quieted down, and the stones drifted down slowly like highly realistic balloons.

Wu Yu even had the leisure to appreciate Violet's expression at that moment.

Her two beautiful willow-leaf eyebrows furrowed together. Wu Yu could sense her anxiety, but he couldn't see any fear in her eyes. Wasn't she afraid? Or was she really so comfortable entrusting her safety to me?

Wu Yu didn't have time to come up with an answer; he quickly focused his attention on the boulder above his head.

The [Dodge] option has already provided the best evasion plan, but Wu Yu chose to refuse it.

The price he paid for his own safety was Violet's death on the spot, struck by a boulder with a radius of about one meter, with no chance of survival for her.

Wu Yu cannot dodge while carrying Violet; this is the limitation of the skill.

Wu Yu realized once again that skills are not omnipotent.

Even so, Wu Yu is still capable of sacrificing a pawn to save the king.

Wu Yu accelerated his thinking simply to confirm one thing.

After calmly weighing the pros and cons, one should accept the consequences of every decision made, and finally stop using emotions as an excuse.

Being able to accept yourself at every stage of life—that's truly the best life.

So, the next move is [Insight] + [Full Power Sword]

This was the first time Wu Yu had used two skills at the same time. He didn't know if his body could handle it, but luckily, his opponent this time was just a rock.

The effect of "seeing through" is to see through all of the opponent's moves and then find the weakest point.

However, when faced with inanimate objects, Wu Yu skipped the first step and went even further in the second step.

Wu Yu instantly analyzed the internal structure of the boulder and quickly identified the most vulnerable point.

The mandatory effect of the skill state once again came into play. Even though Wu Yu had not yet condensed his battle qi vortex, the surrounding battle qi was forcibly summoned by the system and all of it rushed into Wu Yu's right arm.

With the boost from battle aura, then the power will be sufficient.

Wu Yu leaped up and, before the boulder could hit Violet, pointed the tip of his sword at the most vulnerable spot he had found.

The crack appeared at the spot Wu Yu pointed to, and Wu Yu then poured all the battle qi he had accumulated in his arm into it.

The exterior of the boulder began to crack, and then, like popping popcorn, marble-like fragments of rock shot out in all directions.

Wu Yu, reacting swiftly, waved his empty sleeve above Violet's head as he landed.

The pebbles that should have hit her were all deflected.

Although it was a close call, they managed to catch up, and Violet remained unharmed.

Perhaps good fortune smiled upon Wu Yun and his companions, for the rest of their journey, no more of those massive boulders that posed a threat to their lives came crashing down upon them.

Just as Wu Yu and his group caught their breath after rushing out of the cave, a thunderous sound came from behind them.

Looking back, the entrance was blocked by huge rocks.

"Wu Yu, that was really dangerous! We were only able to escape thanks to you." Violet shook Wu Yu's arm, eager to share her joy at having just escaped death.

"Hiss!" Wu Yu gasped in pain, his face contorting in agony.

"Clang." The sword fell from his hand.

"Yes, I'm sorry," Violet quickly released her hand and apologized hastily.

"It's nothing." Cold sweat dripped from Wu Yu's forehead, but he still managed to force a smile and reply.

"But, your hand, Wu Yu, your hand." Violet was almost incoherent as she spoke.

Fresh blood kept seeping from Wu Yu's palm, which had cracked from exerting too much force, and then dripping onto the ground.

This was only the minor injury Wu Yu had suffered; his entire arm was twisted into a pretzel.

A force capable of shattering rock would make shattering bones an incredibly easy task.

Due to the reaction force, Wu Yu suffered a comminuted fracture this time. In his previous life, that would have meant amputation, but in this world with magic, it's uncertain whether it can be cured.

Violet hurriedly took out a bottle of intermediate-level life potion and awkwardly sprinkled it on Wu Yu's arm.

However, for injuries of this severity, a mere intermediate-level life potion would not be of much use; it could only alleviate the pain in Wu Yu's arm.

"I'm sorry, Wu Yu, it's all my fault that you've been dragged into this." Violet's voice was already trembling with tears as she spoke with self-reproach.

"It's alright, my injury won't affect the outcome much," Wu Yu replied casually.

He wasn't trying to comfort Violet. Losing his hand might have been a big deal for Wu Yu in the past, but now it was only temporary.
