System and I Don't Match

Chapter Two: A New Journey

"What a hassle!" Wu Yu sighed as he walked out of the palace.

He has achieved his basic goal, but there is still a dangerous journey ahead before he can truly find liberation.

According to Wu Yu's thinking, if the sky falls, there are tall people to hold it up. But based on the labels Wu Yu currently carries, he is already probably the tallest person in the world. Obviously, if there is any real danger, he can't withstand it.

While strength itself can serve as a deterrent, being too strong can also make one a prime target for others.

To put it simply, if someone wanted to cut down an entire forest, but a tiger lived in that forest, would the tiger allow the logger to destroy the entire forest? In the logger's mind, the answer is no. The tiger wouldn't be stupid enough to ask beforehand and expose itself; it would definitely hide and shoot from the shadows.

Wu Yu was willing to bet that even if he announced to the whole world that he was going to live in seclusion in the mountains, those people would definitely come and eliminate him before he could cause trouble.

In fact, Wu Yu had a guess that the reason why Phillis exposed her past and gave herself the title of Sword Saint was to put herself on the opposite side of her enemies.

According to Philliss, she did it to avoid being harmed by Duke Oliver, but it was too easy to come up with a plausible reason. Even if she said she didn't think too much about it when she made the decision, Wu Yu wouldn't blame her.

Ultimately, they were just ordinary friends. She didn't need to take responsibility for him, and he couldn't possibly risk his life to help her.

When their relationship became completely different, it was time to say goodbye. Escorting her one last time was not only for the sake of the deal, but also to give an explanation for the past experiences.

This trip to the Versailles Empire can also be considered as a scouting trip. If the local customs and culture are good, it can be considered as a potential future retreat location.

The danger level of this journey is unknown, but even without thinking, it's obvious that if someone wanted to cause trouble for an emperor, they would never send a bunch of trash who aren't even at the Saint level.

In other words, if danger arises this time, it will be absolutely impossible to resolve it on my own. It seems I need to go back and think carefully about how to nip the crisis in the bud.

While pondering, Wu Yu unknowingly returned home and plopped down on the sofa as if rooted to the spot. Wu Yu suddenly had the urge to back out, but he could only think about it in his mind. He, Wu Yu, was not the kind of person who broke his word.

"Wu Yu, have you finished your business?" Violet, who was in her room, came out after hearing the noise and asked casually.

"Hmph, there's nothing I can't accomplish when I personally take charge." You could tell he was a show-off the moment he opened his mouth. A man's greatest charm comes from his confidence. Anyway, Violet had no idea what he was up to, so he could brag however he wanted.

"Wu Yu is really amazing. Unlike me, I failed to break through to the third-tier mage level today." Violet had always admired Wu Yu, but as she spoke, she started to feel sorry for herself.

Seriously? You're almost a third-tier mage, while I don't know when I'll break through to the second tier. Weren't we on the same starting line? It seems that people's talents can't be generalized.

Even though his pride was shattered, Wu Yu still comforted him like an elder, saying, "Failure is the mother of success. This failure is just to increase your chances of success next time."

“Yes.” Violet nodded, her eyes regaining their confidence.

This girl is really easy to coax. To be precise, as long as you are willing to be patient and say a few more words, she will definitely listen to what you say. Of course, this excludes things that she is particularly interested in. Beneath that delicate body lies a heart that is willing to court death.

"Wu Yu, because of the disaster last time, the academy is organizing us to go to the Monster Forest for a survival exercise. Are you ready?" Phillis sat down opposite Wu Yu and asked.

Damn it, I completely forgot about this. How could Wu Yu, who skips classes all the time, possibly remember the college's notice?

No! There's absolutely no need for me to be nervous. I'm accompanying the emperor of this country on a diplomatic mission.

It's ridiculous to be so anxious about whether you'll do well on tomorrow's exam when the world is practically ending. It seems like you'll never be able to shake off the psychological trauma inflicted by that group over the past decade.

In response, Wu Yu could only say with deep regret, "I'm sorry, I have some things to take care of and I need to leave the Empire for a while. I probably won't be able to accompany you to the survival exercise this time."

"Be careful on the road," Violet nodded in response.

"Hmm." Seeing Violet's calm demeanor, Wu Yu couldn't help but feel a little impatient. Hey! Aren't you always so curious? Why didn't you ask me what I was going to do this time?

"When are you coming back?" Violet blinked, finally unable to resist asking.

So you still care about me after all. Wu Yu felt like he had won a fight, but he still pretended to be troubled and said, "It might take a month. After all, I have to go abroad, and things are quite complicated. But don't worry, there's nothing in this world that I can't handle."

Violet nodded and said nothing more. She just stared intently at Wu Yu, as if trying to etch his image into her mind.

Feeling a bit awkward being stared at, Wu Yu remained seated.
