Black Wind Village is a backward and impoverished place. The Ma family is spoken of by everyone in the village. After having five sons, the 40-year-old woman of the Ma family became pregnant again....
The time quietly approached nine o'clock, and an ambiguous and decadent atmosphere filled the dimly lit room.
Ah Si yawned repeatedly as he climbed off a woman's belly, his eyes glazed and empty, as if still immersed in the chaos of the moment.
Ah Si has been smoking too much marijuana lately, and he seems a bit dazed.
He shook his head, trying to clear his head, but his mind felt heavy and sluggish, as if it were stuffed with cotton.
His body was limp and powerless, his limbs feeling as if they didn't belong to him.
Ah Si squinted at the blurry scene around him, a strange sense of irritation rising in his heart.
He knew he shouldn't be addicted to marijuana, but the illusory pleasure he felt was irresistible.
He had lost count of how many times he had woken up in this chaotic state. Each time he told himself to quit, but the next time he would involuntarily fall back into it.
He slowly stood up, his steps unsteady, and he almost fell to the ground.
The woman was still lying on the bed, looking languid, with a slightly dazed look in her eyes, seemingly unconcerned about Ah Si's condition.
Ah Si looked at her, his heart unmoved. In his world, there was only endless emptiness and confusion at this moment.
He walked to the window, opened it, and a breath of fresh air rushed in.
Ah Si took a deep breath, trying to clear his head.
But the euphoric feeling from the marijuana still clung to him, making it impossible for him to shake it off.
He gazed at the night outside the window, his heart filled with confusion and unease.
"Xiangmeng, didn't your godmother ask you to entertain guests today?" A-Si asked, standing in the middle of the room, his face full of doubt.
His gaze lingered on Xiangmeng, trying to find the answer in her expression.
The woman glanced at him, a hint of a smile flashing in her ambiguous eyes, as if hiding countless secrets.
"Guess... why didn't Mom ask me to entertain guests?" Her voice was soft and mysterious, leaving Ah Si even more confused.
Ah Si had no idea why. He frowned and pondered for a moment, but still had no clue.
He shook his head helplessly, walked to the bedside, and began to put on his clothes.
He was thinking about going downstairs to take a look around, hoping to get some information from other people.
Ah Si finished dressing and was preparing to leave the room.
As soon as he opened the door, before he could even react, two burly men stuffed a sack over his head.
Darkness enveloped him instantly, and a wave of terror washed over him.
He struggled desperately to break free, but the two burly men were incredibly strong and held him tightly, making it impossible for him to move.
Ah Si shouted loudly inside the sack, but his voice was muffled by the thick sack and sounded so weak.
Mother Ye walked slowly down the stairs, her figure swaying, exuding an air of authority that came from long-held power.
She walked up to Xiangmeng, casually tossed her a silver dollar, and smiled with satisfaction. "Well done!"
Xiangmeng reached out and caught the silver dollar, a hint of surprise flashing in her eyes, before she covered her mouth and chuckled softly.
Her laughter was as clear and melodious as a silver bell, yet it carried a hint of allure. "Mother, what are you saying! If it weren't for your excellent teaching, how would I have had the chance to redeem myself!" Xiangmeng's words were full of flattery, but a hint of cunning was revealed in her eyes.
Mother Ye raised her chin slightly, a hint of smugness flashing in her eyes. "Alright, now that this last order is done, you can rest! Tomorrow, Master Wang will be marrying you in a grand procession in a sedan chair! Even though you'll be a concubine, you'll still be leaving this hellhole, won't you?" Mother Ye's words carried a touch of reminiscence, as if she were recalling her own past.
Her gaze became distant, as if her thoughts had drifted back to the past.
In this place of pleasure, she witnessed the fates of countless women, their joys and sorrows, their rises and falls.
And Xiangmeng is about to embark on a new journey in her life.
Mother Ye felt both gratified and somewhat sentimental.
Xiangmeng felt a complex mix of emotions after hearing what Ye's mother said.
She was both happy to be leaving this place and worried about the future. She knew that becoming Master Wang's concubine might not be the beginning of happiness, but at least she had a chance to get away from here.
Xiangmeng lowered her head slightly to conceal her emotions.
"Thank you, Mom. Xiangmeng will always remember your kindness." Her voice was soft yet firm, as if she were making a promise to Mother Ye.
Mother Ye looked at Xiangmeng and sighed softly. "Go, prepare well. Your future depends on your own destiny." Xiangmeng nodded, watching Mother Ye turn and leave.
Her figure gradually disappeared at the top of the stairs, leaving Xiangmeng alone on the bed, lost in thought.
Mother Ye looked down at Ah Si, her fingers gripping his chin tightly, her eyes filled with coldness and smugness.
Ah Si was in a terrible state, his hair was disheveled, and there were red marks on his face from being rubbed by the burlap sack.
Looking at Ah Si like this, Mother Ye felt a surge of satisfaction.
As she recalled Ah Si's recent behavior, her anger grew even stronger.
"I've been trying to cultivate you, and you dare to play tricks on me? Ah Si, do you really think I, Ye Laihong, am a fool who's easy to fool?" Her voice was sharp and full of anger, each word like a sharp blade piercing Ah Si.
Mother Ye's face was full of sinister intent, and her exquisite makeup looked particularly ferocious at this moment.
Her eyes were fixed on Ah Si like a venomous snake, as if she wanted to see through his soul.
Under her gaze, Ah Si was filled with fear and regret.
