Black Wind Village is a backward and impoverished place. The Ma family is spoken of by everyone in the village. After having five sons, the 40-year-old woman of the Ma family became pregnant again....
"You've had quite a few abortions, haven't you?"
Inside the banquet hall, Ma Lihua's questioning was like a bombshell, instantly freezing the noisy atmosphere.
The voice echoed in the magnificent hall, each word like a cold arrow piercing straight at Xiao Peipei.
Xiao Peipei's originally smug face twisted in anger, a blush spreading from her cheeks to her ears, and a barely perceptible fear flashed in her eyes.
Moreover, her family was about to form a marriage alliance with the Wang family, so she couldn't afford to have any scandals at this time.
She tried to retort, but her voice trembled with panic: "Don't make false accusations. It's clearly you who's slandering me."
The surrounding guests whispered among themselves, their eyes darting between the two, as if they were watching a fascinating yet cruel drama unfold.
Ma Lihua remained calm and composed, standing quietly with her deep eyes like a bottomless lake and the upward curve of her lips carrying a hint of mystery.
"Hmph, you think you can get away with this? Soon, the truth will overwhelm you like a flood."
Her words were like a judgment, carrying an unquestionable authority.
Xiao Peipei panicked even more and shouted, "Xiao Xin, get this crazy woman away from here, don't let her talk nonsense."
Tian Xin hesitated for a moment, but still walked towards Ma Lihua.
At this moment, Ma Lihua turned around and said softly to Li Xin behind her, "Xiao Xin, let's go! It's all smoky and messy here, I'm tired."
Li Xin's tall and strong body immediately bent down, and he steadily carried Ma Lihua on his back.
Ma Lihua leaned against Li Xin's back, her face full of arrogance, as if she were the true master of this banquet.
They slowly left amidst the varied gazes of the crowd, leaving behind a hall filled with astonishment and speculation.
Xiao Peipei's face grew paler, and unease surged in her eyes, as if she sensed the impending storm.
Li Xin was filled with resentment, muttering as he left with Ma Lihua: "Auntie, why are we leaving? I haven't even hit that woman yet!"
His clenched fists revealed his inner turmoil; his hands were itching as if ants were crawling on them.
“We have no choice but to leave, listen to me.” Ma Lihua’s tone was grave.
"boom!"
Just as I stepped downstairs, a deafening bang, like thunder, exploded, making my eardrums ache.
Li Xin, carrying Ma Lihua on his back, stared wide-eyed like copper bells, his face full of curiosity and astonishment: "My goodness! It...it exploded, what happened?"
Ma Lihua replied calmly and honestly, "I don't know."
However, an even more terrifying scene followed.
"bump!"
A figure plummeted straight down from the third-floor window like a rag doll. Li Xin's heart skipped a beat in fright, and he instinctively turned his head away. Fortunately, there was no blood splattering, otherwise even his thick-skinned nerves would have been traumatized.
After a while, he dared to look down, and upon seeing her, he exclaimed in surprise, "Hey! Isn't that the arrogant woman from before?"
Xiao Peipei was lying on the ground, looking disheveled and her fate unknown.
Ma Lihua merely glanced at it coldly, a cold and ruthless smile curling at the corner of her lips, a smile as cold as frost in winter, devoid of any warmth.
"Those who reap what they sow will not live."
She is a supreme god, and once she takes offense, those who offend her will be shrouded in misfortune.
At this moment, her eyes gleamed with a mysterious and majestic light, as if all of this was within her expectations, and she simply looked quietly at Xiao Peipei lying on the ground like a dead dog.
"Aren't you leaving yet? What are you waiting for?" Ma Lihua frowned, her tone tinged with impatience.
"Yes, Aunt, we're leaving now." Li Xin responded, took a long stride, and walked right past Xiao Peipei, carrying Ma Lihua on his back as he left with a carefree air, his back view exuding a touch of unruliness.
Back home, Li Xin carried Ma Lihua to the door, and Ma Lihua saw the paper figures she had made before, and her expression became serious.
"Holy crap! Brother Ma... Brother Ma, she... she didn't find us, did she?" Minotaur's voice trembled with nervousness, and his body seemed to be shaking slightly.
"No way! She can't see ghosts! Don't be afraid." Horse-face remained calm and patted Ox-head on the shoulder to comfort him.
"Why do I see these two as monsters?" Ma Lihua muttered to herself, a hint of doubt flashing in her eyes.
"Miss Lihua, why are you back so early?" Uncle Fu came out of the toilet and immediately saw Ma Lihua standing at the gate of the courtyard.
"Hey! Uncle Fu, you have no idea how those people look down on me. They said my aunt is unsophisticated and look down on her. It made me so angry," Li Xin said indignantly.
"Oh! Xiao Xin is here too!" Uncle Fu glanced at Li Xin casually.
Li Xin's lips twitched, and he thought to himself: I've been here for half a day, okay?
"Miss Pear Blossom, please come inside and rest! The old lady and the others have gone fishing," Uncle Fu said warmly.
Ma Lihua was taken aback, her gaze shifting from the paper ox-head and horse-face figures: "My grandma... went fishing?"
"Miss Pear Blossom, you don't know this, do you? The old lady is a fishing expert, and it was the old lady who taught Master Li." Uncle Fu explained with a smile.
Li Xin followed Ma Lihua into the living room of the courtyard house like a little tail, his curiosity as fresh as that of Grandma Liu entering the Grand View Garden for the first time.
His eyes were wide open, darting around constantly, looking here and there. Every carving amazed him, and every door and window caught his eye. He looked like a child who had never seen the world before.
"Tsk! I wish my dad would buy me a courtyard house too." Li Xin clicked his tongue, his face full of envy.
Ma Lihua glanced at him, picked up the ginseng water and took an elegant sip, saying in a nonchalant tone, "Big brother doesn't have any money."
