A madwoman arrives ...
Chapter 143 Night Candle Rules 21: Rescued.
The situation was too chaotic, and the target was too small. Even though this was an elite force, it was still a bit baffling to ask them to attack two units that were so precise that they were almost invisible. They could only attack on instinct. Therefore, when Nanmen Jue quietly sneaked into the base and stole an armored vehicle, no one on the field reacted at all.
The armored vehicle was like Godzilla on land. Before they could react, Nanmenjue rampaged through the enemy lines, wiping out many of them. They quickly realized there was a traitor among their own men and changed formation to begin attacking Nanmenjue. But Nanmenjue dug a hole under the vehicle and quietly abandoned it, escaping.
Nanmen Jue also had a combat uniform just like theirs. Without time to change, she hurriedly put on her coat and hat, and at first glance, they were indistinguishable. She dodged left and right on the battlefield, her eyes scanning around, shooting out a sharp light like an eagle.
She was looking for Ying Yao and Zhou Yiming.
The two had a clear division of labor: one disrupted the battlefield and attracted attention, while the other restrained Zhou Yiming. Nanmen Jue was concerned about Ying Yao's physical condition and did not want him to face another Jinming, even though he had heard that Zhou Yiming was also a fragile one among the Jinming. However, if Ying Yao was in charge of the killing, these people would really be dead.
Left with no other choice, Nanmen Jue decided to choose the lesser of two evils and went to raid the enemy's home.
The situation has completely descended into chaos, and she feels it's time to retreat.
But where did those two famous men go?
Unable to find Ying Yao, Nanmen Jue naturally did not want to leave. She searched and killed her way through, quickly attracting a lot of attention. Seeing that she was about to be surrounded again, Nanmen Jue gritted her teeth and had no choice but to find an opportunity to retreat.
Just as Ying Yao himself said, he is more experienced than her and has more ways to protect himself. She should trust him!
Thinking this, Nanmen Jue circled around a couple more times. As the dust gradually dissipated, more and more people gathered around. After her defenses on her shoulders and thighs were breached and she was hit by two bullets each, she had no choice but to grab onto an armored vehicle and climb up. Before anyone else could react, she nimbly made her way away, like a light seabird, stepping on the roof of the vehicle and the heads of the people.
Before leaving, she made a point of looking back one last time.
Without the strange protection, the entire hilltop was blasted flat, and the beautiful osmanthus tree naturally disappeared. Under such an impact, not even dust should have remained. However, Wei Chongru had cleverly taken away Xiao Ruo's body beforehand, and now, looking around, only ruins remained.
Another stray bullet struck, and Nanmen Jue turned around and quickly fled for his life.
"He's over there—"
I knew it wouldn't be that easy!
Nanmen Jue ran through the empty streets, leaving Feng Jiabao's eerie domain. The chilling feeling, as if someone was constantly breathing on the back of his neck, enveloped him again, somewhat affecting his speed. In the midst of his haste, Nanmen Jue lit a candle, and warmth permeated his body, increasing his speed again. However, the stray bullets were even faster, and he was heavily knocked away several times when he tried to create distance. Nanmen Jue was in a bit of a mess for a moment.
Which way to go?
The wound on her abdomen, which had not yet healed, was torn open again. Nanmen Jue covered it with her hand. She was still unfamiliar with this world. Unlike before, when she had a map provided by the crow, if she ran around blindly, she would probably be easily caught.
Crow was nowhere to be seen during the previous chaos, but Nanmen Jue was more worried about the safety of others than about Him.
Just as Nanmen Jue was rushing around aimlessly like a headless fly, someone suddenly called his name.
"Nanmen Jue! This way!"
Nanmen Jue looked up and saw someone peeking out from an alleyway. Surprisingly, Nanmen Jue recognized this person.
"Hurry, hurry up!"
A woman with a high ponytail and a huge sniper rifle slung over her back waved frantically at her, looking anxious. Nanmen Jue turned around and charged at her. Because of her injuries, she lost her balance and couldn't stop due to the immense kinetic energy, crashing headfirst into the woman.
The woman hugged her. With her strength, she should have been able to catch Nanmen Jue easily, but instead, she leaned back and hugged her.
Just as he was about to fall to the ground, Nanmen Jue moved, trying to cushion the woman's fall with himself, but the woman pressed him down forcefully. Nanmen Jue immediately realized that this must be the way to escape, so he immediately calmed down and fell down with the woman.
They were extremely close at this moment, their breathing clearly audible. Nanmen Jue saw the woman's complex eyes, those eyes fixed on her face. They were clearly not weak eyes; they were full of power, seemingly trying to see into her heart with a heavy and sharp intensity. Nanmen Jue stared at them, and when they touched the ground, the ground suddenly transformed into ripples like flowing water, rippling and enveloping them.
They didn't crash into the ground; instead, they sank in, experiencing a brief feeling of weightlessness before finally landing on the ground.
Before actually hitting the ground, Nanmen Jue adjusted himself and rolled with the woman to absorb the impact, avoiding the melodramatic scene where one of them cushioned the other's fall.
Suddenly, everything became very quiet. Before Nanmen Jue's body could react, a few seconds later, she could hear heavy breathing coming from herself.
Two people approached her, both with familiar scents. Nanmen Jue ignored them, adjusted her breathing, and slowly raised her head.
The person who appeared before her was unexpected, but she felt a strange sense of entitlement.
Whether intentionally or unintentionally, the people she knew came to this world one by one. If she still thinks that these are just simple coincidences, then she deserves to die in the cycle of reincarnation.
Deng Erhuai and Lu Yunxiao were surrounding her, their eyes filled with complex emotions, but the most obvious was their worry.
"You're injured," Deng Erhuai said. "Do you need any props? Or a bandage?"
Lu Yunxiao said, "Don't worry, this is a small barrier. No one else can see it except the user."
Deng Erhuai reached out to help Nanmen Jue up, but Nanmen Jue gently pushed her hand away. Without looking at Deng Erhuai's gloomy face, he slowly stood up on his own. "How did you all end up here?"
Her tone was somewhat peculiar; she was asking why they were there, yet she wasn't surprised at all.
“I used the props that follow Sister Terra. In this world, she is the leader of a small organization. Ji Chengying is also there; she stayed by Sister Terra’s side,” Deng Erhuai said.
Lu Yunxiao said, "I didn't use any props, but as soon as I opened my eyes, I saw the people with the iron drill, so I joined them."
"Sister Terra received news that Zhou Yiming has become a major general in the provisional coalition government, and he and Zhang Jin want to kill you, so we rushed over," Deng Erhuai added.
Her words were evasive, and Nanmen Jue glanced at her and said softly, "Terra won't let you come, is that it?"
Deng Erhuai's face changed, turning pale and filled with guilt. She lowered her eyes, and Lu Yunxiao smoothed things over, saying, "It's not that we're against it, but as you know, the three guilds are still officially cooperating. It's not good for them if the other two are fighting each other while Iron Drill openly helps you."
“You shouldn’t have come here,” Nanmen Jue said. “You shouldn’t have continued to have contact with me.”
Even without Lu Yunxiao's explanation, she knew that Deng Erhuai must have disobeyed Terra's orders to come here. She was grateful to her, but if it was for Deng Erhuai's good and for Iron Drill's good, then this behavior should be stopped.
This was mainly directed at Deng Erhuai; she didn't want to see this girl, whom she had seriously injured in the previous world and who had just helped her.
However, whether it was Nanmen Jue's deliberate avoidance or his cold words, Deng Erhuai was immediately enraged. She was petite, and the sniper rifle was taller than her head. She squeezed herself right under Nanmen Jue's nose, and the muzzle of the sniper rifle almost touched Nanmen Jue's nose.
"Of course I know we shouldn't have come, but if we hadn't, you'd be turned into dice by now! Nanmen Jue, is this what you should say to your savior?" Deng Erhuai said viciously. "Maybe I missed it, did you say thank you?"
"Thank you," Nanmen Jue said.
"You... um?"
Unexpectedly, Nanmen Jue spoke so bluntly, and Deng Erhuai, who was about to explode, was suddenly rendered speechless, like a gun suddenly exploding.
Lu Yunxiao hadn't expected this turn of events, and coughed lightly.
"Thank you." Nanmen Jue looked up at them. "But you really shouldn't have come. Go back quickly when it's quiet outside. Don't let those two groups find you, or you won't be able to explain yourselves."
Deng Erhuai stared at her, his chest heaving rapidly, his eyes slowly reddening.
Lu Yunxiao tried to speak, but Deng Erhuai pulled him back.
"At this point, you're all alone and helpless. Shouldn't you be holding me hostage, or luring me to get Iron Drill to protect you or something? Why are you trying to persuade us to go back? Whether I help you or not is none of your business. Whether Iron Drill betrays you or not is none of your business. For you, isn't the more chaotic this situation, the better?" Her voice was slightly damp, but still firm and powerful. "If you're going to be a bad guy, go all the way, Nanmen Jue! What are you doing? Doing good deeds when people think you're a bad guy, and then doing all sorts of bad things when people think you're a good guy. What do you really want? Is it fun to play tricks on people? Look at me!"
Deng Erhuai was not weak-willed; on the contrary, she was extremely opinionated and incredibly stubborn. Even if Nanmen Jue was truly the number one hypocrite and villain in the world, she would still grab her by the collar and force her to give a definite answer in front of her.
So she actually grabbed Nanmen Jue by the collar and pulled hard, causing blood to flow from the gun muzzle on Nanmen Jue's shoulder, but no one cared. She stared intently into Nanmen Jue's long, beautiful eyes, her gaze fierce.
“Look me in the eyes,” she said. “What are you hiding? Which side of you is your disguise?”
Nanmen Jue said, "Deng Erhuai..."
Answer me!
Nanmen Jue remained silent. She met Deng Erhuai's gaze. Although the candle had been extinguished, she felt a burning heat enveloping her, making her eloquent tongue dry.
The two stared at each other in silence. Lu Yunxiao felt himself suddenly become very bright, but the place was only so big and he had nowhere to hide, so he had no choice but to look away and listen attentively to Nanmen Jue's answer.
Under Deng Erhuai's intense gaze, Nanmen Jue's lips moved slightly, immediately attracting Deng Erhuai's attention. Her eyes also flickered, as if she almost wanted to forcefully kiss those lips that were always smiling sarcastically. But Nanmen Jue didn't notice. She quickly pursed her lips, and the taut lines of her jaw revealed a cold and hard feeling.
Deng Erhuai felt a sense of unease, and then Nanmen Jue raised his hand and gently but firmly pried her hand off.
"I'm sorry," she said.
Deng Erhuai looked at her with even redder eyes, "What are you apologizing for?"
Nanmenjue didn't explain, but said, "When you get back, listen to Terra and don't leave her side again. This world is more dangerous than you think."
"In your eyes, we are all a burden, parasites, and can only survive by relying on the strong, is that right?" Deng Erhuai said.
Nanmen Jue thought she didn't say that, but she said, "You're an old man who's been to the Reincarnation Space. You should know that there's no point in being stubborn in a place like this. How will the other reincarnators survive in a world where all five Golden Names are gathered? Deng Erhuai, don't be so willful. Even if you don't want to live anymore, send Lu Yunxiao back first."
"Um," Lu Yunxiao weakly raised his right hand, using his left hand as a cushion, like a primary school student answering a question in class, "I don't really want to answer either..."
"Shut up!"
The two shouted at him in unison, and Lu Yunxiao choked, silently shrinking back and hugging himself tightly.
Nanmen Jue took a deep breath and didn't continue the topic. Instead, he asked, "Do you know anything about a strange figure called the Judge?"
