1. Pride and Prejudice

Lin Can opened his phone and looked at the calendar. He originally wanted to know how many days were left before school started, but he discovered that, including today, he had liked Li He for four years.

It was more or less an anniversary, and even though the other party definitely didn't remember it, he still wanted to ask him out.

After a summer vacation, Li He became much darker, and his wheat-colored skin was shining in the sun, just like him. In Lin Can's eyes, he was glowing.

Li He greeted him openly, and his two fangs were exposed when he smiled.

"Why did you ask me out?" he asked Lin Can, his arm naturally resting on his shoulder.

Lin Can tilted his head to look at the hand on his left shoulder. It was thin and powerful, with veins faintly visible on the back of the hand.

"I want to invite you to the library to read."

Li He's eyes suddenly became puzzled.

Now that he was out, he might as well read a book. Li He sat on a chair next to the bookshelf, leaning his head against the wall and looking at Lin Can.

He was very serious about everything he did. When he was in high school, he was a regular guest among the top ten in his grade. Finally, he was admitted to the best local university with the fifth highest score in the college entrance examination.

Lin Can has liked him for many years, and he knows it.

Li He yawned towards the sunlight, then slowly lay down on the table and closed his eyes.

He neither wanted to refuse nor accept Lin Can's frequent advances, so it was fine for him to just accept them with peace of mind.

Lin Can had no idea what to do on a date. He only knew that he wanted to spend more time with Li He. As long as this person was by his side, it was enough.

He finished reading the original English version of "Pride and Prejudice" and felt a lot of emotion. He wanted to share it with Li He but found that he had already fallen asleep due to boredom.

Lin Can thought, maybe he and Li He were not the same kind of people, just like Elizabeth and Darcy in the book.

But, they are together at the end of the book, aren't they?

Lin Can returned the book, and Li He woke up. He squinted his eyes, his voice hoarse from just waking up, and asked Lin Can in a low voice: "Do you want to go for a drink?"

That's the hint.

But Lin Can frowned slightly, looked at his watch, and said, "It's five o'clock. I should go home."

“Tsk.”

Li He stood up impatiently.

If Lin Can wasn't such a boring person, based on his face, he might be willing to have something happen with him.

He glanced at Lin Can's collar. His white shirt was meticulously buttoned up to the top. A man like him would probably be as hard as a log even in bed.

Okay, Li He thought, I'll just consider it as wasting a day going to the library to catch up on sleep.

When Li He brushed past his shoulder and left without looking back, Lin Can knew that he had messed up the date again.

Li He likes lively atmosphere, carnival and anything that can stimulate adrenaline.

He had several girlfriends in high school, and they all had one thing in common: big, wavy hair.

Lin Can scratched his short, slightly curly hair, and looked at his chest which was as flat as that of any normal man. It would probably be a very difficult and long process to make Li He fall in love with him.

While he was daydreaming, a black car stopped in front of him and the person sitting in the back seat slowly lowered the window.

"Get in the car and go home."

Since entering the car, Lin Can has been lowering his head and pouting, looking unhappy. Fu Xingzhi raised his head from the documents in his hand and asked him, "What's wrong?"

Lin Can didn't say anything, but just reached out and grabbed the cufflinks on Fu Xingzhi's suit sleeve, silently getting angry.

Fu Xingzhi understood immediately, put down the documents in his hand, and asked tentatively: "Did the date fail?"

Lin Can let out an unhappy snort from his nose.

"Okay, let go of my cufflinks."

Fu Xingzhi rescued the cufflinks from his hand and replaced them with a piece of fruit candy wrapped in cellophane.

"Guess what it tastes like? Don't be unhappy if you don't guess it right," he said.

Lin Can guessed: "Orange flavor?"

Fu Xingzhi opened the cellophane wrapping and stuffed the candy into Lin Can's mouth.

"I guessed wrong, it tastes like pineapple."

Fu Xingzhi's lips curled up into a gentle smile, which made Lin Can lose all his temper and laugh out loud with him.

"I never guess right!" he grumbled under his breath.

Fu Xingzhi is Lin Can's parent, or to be more precise, his stepmother.

Lin Can's father is fully responsible for this matter. He made a mistake when he was a teenager and unfortunately had Lin Can. Although this scumbag father was responsible for Lin Can's mother and took her to his home, he still did not change his philandering mind and was still flirting with other women everywhere, and almost gave birth to Lin Can's younger brother.

The most outrageous thing is that after raising Fu Xingzhi to adulthood, the scumbag father actually attacked him, and after Lin Can's biological mother passed away, he held a serious ceremony with Fu Xingzhi.

Lin Can was never very clear about the details of the grudges of the previous generation and the magical thing about his childhood sweetheart becoming his stepmother. He only guessed some of them from the few words his father uttered before his death.

His father and Fu Xingzhi seemed to be holding a bloody script of a captive top's forced love...

What made Lin Can doubt his life the most was that the victim was his father.
