Chapter 175: Gu Yanting's Death Struggle

"Impersonate me?" Ah Yu hesitated. "What if they find out..."

“We will try to make it as realistic as possible,” Officer Zhang said. “This is the safest approach at the moment. You stay here and cooperate with us to provide more information about A Biao and Gu Yanting, which is crucial for the rescue.”

Looking at Officer Zhang's serious expression and then at the anxious Lin Wanqing beside her, Ah Yu finally nodded: "Okay, I'll cooperate. But Officer Zhang, you must ensure Zhong Hua's safety, you must rescue her!"

“We will.” Officer Zhang’s tone was firm.

However, Ah Yu's heart was far from at peace. What if something went wrong if someone impersonated him on this adventure? Besides, Gu Yanting was so cunning; could he really be fooled?

He walked to the window, watching the rain outside intensify. The rain blurred his vision, just like his chaotic state of mind. He took out his phone and repeatedly read the last message Zhong Hua had sent: "Whatever, everything you make is delicious."

Tears finally streamed down my face.

Zhong Hua, wait for me. I will definitely rescue you, no matter the cost.

Chapter Three: The Last Roar of a Trapped Beast

As night fell, the rain intensified, pounding against the corrugated iron roof of the abandoned chemical plant with a crackling sound. The warehouse grew even darker, with only an old light bulb flickering overhead, casting dim, dappled light.

Zhong Hua's wrists were red and swollen from being rubbed raw by the ropes, and even bled, but she didn't give up. She continued to exert force secretly, trying to break free of her restraints. The two guards seemed somewhat tired, dozing off against the wall, with only one occasionally glancing up at her.

Chance!

Zhong Hua held her breath and quickened her movements. Suddenly, she felt the rope loosen! A surge of joy filled her, and she twisted even harder. Just then, the dozing guard jerked his eyes open: "What are you doing? Behave yourself!"

Zhong Hua was startled and immediately stopped what he was doing, pretending to be tired and lowering his head.

The guard walked over and kicked her chair: "Move again, and I'll seal your mouth shut even tighter!"

Zhong Hua dared not make any further moves and could only watch helplessly as the opportunity slipped away. She felt a wave of despair; was she really destined to wait for Ah Yu to rescue her? But she didn't want Ah Yu to risk his life for her.

Just then, the warehouse door was pushed open, and Ah Biao walked in. He looked somewhat agitated, constantly rubbing his hands together.

"Brother Biao," the guard quickly stood up, "how did it go? Did the kid agree?"

"Hmph, agree?" Ah Biao sneered. "Trying to play tricks on me! I just had someone check, and the police have already started making preparations. They'll probably send someone to impersonate him tomorrow."

"What should we do then?" The guard asked nervously.

"What do we do? President Gu said we're going to take this seriously!" A ruthless glint flashed in Ah Biao's eyes. "Tomorrow at noon, no matter who comes, detain them first, then call Ah Yu and tell him that if he doesn't hand over the ledgers, he'll cripple this woman's hand!"

Upon hearing this, Zhong Hua froze, fear gripping her heart like a cold snake. He'd crippled her hand? Gu Yanting, how cruel you are!

“Brother Biao, isn’t this a bit too much…” Another guard hesitated.

"Too much what?" Ah Biao glared at him. "President Gu said this is the last gamble! If we don't get the ledgers, we're all finished! Don't forget what you did with President Gu before. If the ledgers are handed over, you won't be able to escape either!"

The two guards exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with fear, and then fell silent.

Ah Biao walked up to Zhong Hua, squatted down, and used a dagger to lift her chin, his tone icy: "Did you hear that? Beauty, if your boyfriend dares to play tricks, you won't be able to keep your pretty hands."

Zhong Hua saw the fierce glint in A Biao's eyes and knew he wasn't joking. She forced herself to calm down, her mind racing. She had to find a way to notify A Yu; she couldn't let him come—it was a trap!

But how can we notify her? She's tied up here, isolated from the world.

Just then, she saw Ah Biao's phone on the box next to her; the screen lit up, as if a message had arrived. A bold idea suddenly flashed through her mind.

Maybe……

Ah Biao said a few more threatening words, but seeing that Zhong Hua was just looking at him in fear and didn't react, he felt a little bored and went to the side to discuss tomorrow's plan with his men.

Zhong Hua took a deep breath, quietly moved her chair, and slowly approached a metal shelf next to her. The shelf was piled with some rusty parts, and a sharp piece of metal caught her attention.

With her back to the guard, she groped around with her bound hands until she finally touched the piece of metal. Gritting her teeth, she aligned the rope on her wrists with the edge of the metal piece and began to rub it vigorously.

The pain returned, but this time, her eyes were filled with determination. For Ah Yu's sake, and to prevent Gu Yanting's scheme from succeeding, she had to take the gamble.

Time ticked by, and the rain outside seemed to intensify. Zhong Hua's wrists were already raw and bleeding, staining the rope red, but she could feel it getting looser.

Finally, with a "snap," the rope on his right hand broke!

Zhong Hua's heart leaped into her throat. She didn't act immediately, but held her breath, listening to the movements of the guards beside her. They seemed to be still talking in hushed tones, unaware of anything amiss.

She carefully untied the rope from her left hand, then slowly removed the tape from her mouth. Her lips were dry, cracked, and bleeding from being stuck with tape for so long, but she didn't care.

Her eyes were fixed on the phone Ah Biao had placed on the box. This was a one-time chance; she had to succeed!
