The story unfolds in the bustling urban business world. The male protagonist, an heir to a family enterprise, appears frivolous on the surface but possesses an exceptional business acumen. The fema...
At the extremely luxurious engagement banquet that was originally meticulously prepared for Zhong Hua and Gu Yanting, crystal chandeliers cast dazzling light, illuminating the exquisite faces of every guest. However, at this moment, the light seemed to become blinding and cold.
Just as everyone was immersed in the joyous atmosphere of this high-society engagement, preparing to witness the birth of another beautiful story, Ah Yu suddenly burst in like a bombshell, taking Lin Wanqing away in front of everyone. In an instant, the scene fell into dead silence, followed by an uproar like a surging sea.
The guests whispered amongst themselves, the banquet hall instantly filled with murmurs. "What's going on? Who is this man?" "Ah Yu? How dare he take Lin Wanqing away from Young Master Gu's engagement party?" Questions and speculations arose one after another. The ladies covered their mouths with their hands, their eyes filled with shock and curiosity; the men frowned, trying to make sense of the chaos.
Standing on the main stage of the banquet hall, Gu Yanting's face instantly turned ashen. His sinister eyes seemed to spit fire as he stared intently in the direction where Ah Yu had led Lin Wanqing away. His hands were clenched into fists, his knuckles turning white from the force, and his body trembled slightly. Clearly, he was nearly out of control with anger at this sudden turn of events.
"That bastard!" Gu Yanting cursed through gritted teeth, his voice low and filled with anger. "He dared to ruin my plans! I'll make him pay a terrible price! Lin Wanqing, you won't get away with this either!" His eyes revealed a crazy obsession, vowing to take back everything, whether it was Lin Wanqing or his so-called dignity and authority.
Meanwhile, Zhong Hua stood there dumbfounded. Her carefully chosen attire now made her look utterly helpless and disheveled. Tears welled in her eyes, her gaze filled with pain and disbelief. She never imagined her engagement party would turn out this way. Watching Ah Yu and Lin Wanqing resolutely leave, her heart felt as if it had been pierced by a sharp knife.
In this chaotic scene, Zhong Hua felt as if she were in a cold abyss, everything around her becoming blurry and distant. She could no longer bear the suffocating atmosphere and turned to run out of the banquet hall. The rapid clatter of her high heels on the floor seemed like the pounding of her broken heart.
The night outside was as dark as ink, and a cold wind howled against her, mercilessly tousling Zhong Hua's hair and drying the tears on her face. She ran desperately, tears streaming down her face, her heart filled with despair for love and resentment at the cruel twist of fate.
Inside the banquet hall, Gu Yanting suppressed his anger, striving to regain a sliver of reason. He knew he couldn't afford to lose his composure now. He took a deep breath and slowly scanned the guests present, his cold gaze seemingly warning everyone to keep quiet.
"I hope you will not spread what happened today," Gu Yanting said coldly. Although his voice was not loud, it carried an undeniable authority. "If anyone breaks the rules, I will not let them off easily." The guests nodded, their eyes filled with fear.
Then, Gu Yanting quickly pulled out his phone and dialed his assistant's number. "Investigate! Find out where Ah Yu and Lin Wanqing are right now! Also, find a way to control public opinion; we absolutely cannot let today's events get out!" he roared into the phone. After hanging up, he added viciously, "Ah Yu, I'll make you regret what you did today for the rest of your life!"
At this moment, Ah Yu was running wildly through the night with Lin Wanqing. He held Lin Wanqing's hand tightly, as if it were the only thing he could grasp at that moment. Lin Wanqing's heart was also pounding like a deer. She didn't know where Ah Yu was taking her, but she subconsciously followed him, feeling both fear of the unknown and a strange excitement and relief.
Finally, the two reached a secluded park. All around was quiet, save for the moonlight that bathed them in a silvery glow. Ah Yu stopped, panting heavily. He turned to look at Lin Wanqing, his eyes filled with concern.
"Are you alright?" Ah Yu asked softly, her voice a little hoarse from running.
Lin Wanqing shook her head slightly, tears glistening in her eyes. "I'm fine, it's just... I just didn't expect something like this to happen." She raised her hand and gently wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes, a bitter smile on her face.
Ah Yu looked at Lin Wanqing, his heart filled with mixed emotions. He knew that his actions today had completely messed things up, but he couldn't bear to watch Lin Wanqing remain trapped by Gu Yanting's side. "Don't worry, with me here, I won't let him hurt you again," Ah Yu said firmly, his eyes revealing an undeniable determination.
Lin Wanqing nodded slightly, a warm feeling welling up inside her. She looked at Ah Yu, the boy next door who had now grown into a reliable man. "But what should we do next? Gu Yanting won't let us off easily," Lin Wanqing said worriedly, a hint of fear in her eyes.
Ah Yu frowned slightly, pondered for a moment, and then said, "Let's find a place to hide first. I'll figure out how to deal with Gu Yanting. Although he has a lot of power, I won't just sit here and wait to die." After saying that, he took Lin Wanqing's hand and walked out of the park.
By this time, Zhong Hua had lost track of how long she had been running. She arrived at a familiar lakeside. This was where she and Ah Yu used to stroll and talk together. She slowly walked to the lakeside, sat on a bench, and gazed at the calm water, her mind filled with countless thoughts.
"Why did this happen? Why did our relationship turn out like this?" Zhong Hua murmured to herself, tears blurring her vision again. She recalled every moment she had spent with Ah Yu, those beautiful memories now feeling like sharp blades, piercing her heart.
